I had a very interesting day today. I got completely lost coming home from the airport this morning after dropping my mom and grandma off. Completely. Like, I was circling through downtown San Jose. It was not as enjoyable as one might think. Blech. Here's the kicker. I have a GPS that I carry in my purse but I was too frazzled to pull over and fire it up. Dumb. So, a drive home that should have taken me 25 minutes ended up taking me almost an hour. Awesome.

That was not the best start to my day, but it did get better. Hailey and I decorated the inside and outside of the house for Halloween! We didn't quite have what I wanted for the outside, so we went up to Target, Walmart and the Dollar Store. I KILLED at the Dollar Store. I bought so much and I didn't spend a buttload of money. It was fab!

Our house looks great, btw. We have cobwebs and tombstones and skulls and spiders ALL OVER THE PLACE! I should really take a picture of it.

Now Hailey and I are having a girls night. It's just the two of us and Bailey. We watched an episode of Supernatural and now we're watching Deep Blue Sea. That last one was Hailey's choice. She totally wanted the movie "where the sharks swim around and eat people". How awesome is that?

I'm going to watch the movie with the munchkin now.
Later.

Supernatural update: I'm up to episode 11 of season 4. I'm really, really enjoying season 4. It's incredibly neat going back and watching these episodes that I've only seen when they were first shown. It's even neater when you watch them in context with the previous seasons. So much stuff is thrown out in the earlier seasons that seems to relate to what's going on in season 4. And season 5, now that I think about it.

The point of all this is that I'm loving this marathon. I'm even getting a little sad that it's nearing it's end. I'm not ready to give up the boys yet. Boo. On the other hand, I could always just restart the marathon from the beginning once I finish season 4. Does that make me sound all fangirl-crazy? Shut up.

It also turns out that I have an outline going for the Supernatural fic that's brewing in my head. Notes and everything. I know where it's going to end, I'm just not sure about all the in-between stuff. Let me just say that I've known how this particular story is going to end for a long time. It's always been the in-between stuff that has pickled my brain. So raise your collective glasses and tell my muse to get off her ass and inspire the crap out of me. *raises glass*

In the world of non-fandom (aka: real life), Cole is on his way to Pennsylvania. And? Tomorrow I could potentially sleep in. That really depends on the dog. However, I don't have to get up early to take anyone to school or get them breakfast or anything like that. I kinda feel like I'm going to be playing hooky. It's an interesting feeling.

I'm going to go work on my outline now. The boys need some plot to get them where they need to go. Or something.
Later.

I bought a new comforter cover today. For two reasons ... no, three reasons. 1. It was on sale. 2. Bailey chewed off a corner of my old one and it's ugly to look at. 3. The new one is BROWN. That means that it matches my walls. Not exactly, mind you. The walls are a warm, light brown (the color's called "Brown Teepee" or something similar) and the comforter cover is a dark chocolate brown. AWESOME!

I'm happy that I finally have a matching room again. I'm happy with the price I paid. Happiness abounds!

Cole leaves for his vacation to Pennsylvania early, early tomorrow morning. :( They're leaving early enough for the airport that he has to spend the night at his dad's tonight. I'm going to miss the little booger. *sigh* I still have to pack for him. I'm not sure whether to go with jeans or shorts. Maybe I'll do a combo. Cole tells me that it's raining there. You know, I wish it would rain here. More than just sprinkles. Dark, cloudy, substantial rain. Yes, I am absolutely ready for summer to be over. Sun, begone! Rain, come on in!

In the world of fandom, I'm up to episode 3 of season 4 of Supernatural. Since I hadn't watched season 4 since it originally aired, all these episodes feel like something new. Plus? PLUS? Dean is hot! He's by far my favorite character. Sam's a close second, but he's still second. Dean, FTW! Also, this is the first season of a show I've bought on Blu-Ray and I'm very impressed with it. The packaging is so much smaller (both in height and thickness) than a regular DVD. I can squeeze so many discs in such a small place. Ha! That sounds so dirty.

Alright. I left my coffee downstairs somewhere and I think I have to switch the wash into the dryer. I have things to do, people. Things to do. Plus, this SPN story that's running through my head might need to get written down. No promises on that, but it's yelling at me quite insistently. *blink, blink* The good thing is that it's yelling in Dean's voice. That never gets old. But it's still yelling and poking the back of my brain and letting me know in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that it wants to be out. Sometimes you just jump on and go where the muse takes you.

Later, kiddies!

Journal #1800. Whew! That's a lot of babbling. A.Lot.

I swear to you that it's almost 20 degrees cooler today than it was yesterday. It's foggy and cold and beautifully crisp out. I love this weather. Hopefully it will continue and we'll be done with the hot. Blech.

I have 4 more episodes of Supernatural season 3. Season 4 should be delivered today so this is working out perfectly. As an awesome plus, Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost was just playing on Cartoon Network. Perfect! Witches and Demons and Ghoulies. Oh, my!

Randomly. Last week I washed all the bedding on Cole's bed. Today it's my turn. I've even pulled the dust ruffle off the bottom of the bed for a good wash. Everything just looked a little on the grimy side. I was also getting a little tired of the way all the bedding was beginning to list off one side of the bed. Not the bedding, really. More like the pillow top I have under the mattress pad. And the top mattress. Everything was just migrating to one side. Bizarre. And annoying. Washing everything gives me the chance to realign all the goodies and flip the mattress. You know, all the fun stuff that I never seem to actually do.

There you have it. I have no plans today other than finding out what type of clothes I have to pack Cole for his trip. And enjoying the fall weather. Of course.
Lazy Monday! Awesome!
I'm out!

My lovely friends [livejournal.com profile] kimbrchick and [livejournal.com profile] jenahville stopped by today. And being the awesome peeps that they are, we watched episodes of Supernatural. Not part of my marathon, mind you, just random episdoes that caught our fancy. For those that are wondering ... No Exit (JO!), The Usual Suspects, Tall Tales, Ghostfacers, and Bad Day at Black Rock. We were kinda going for humorous eps. Yeah, No Exit doesn't have so much of the funny but it does have Jo and we like Jo.

So, we watched the Winchester boys today and I'll continue my marathon in a bit (once Cole finishes some of his shows on the DVR). Seriously, despite the heat (yuck!) this was a GREAT weekend. Supernatural to the left and Supernatural to the right! Woot!

I also finished my 100th book.
Book #100 - The Haunted Bridge by Carolyn Keene - A decent book (much better than #100 form last year, if memory serves) that was standard Nancy Drew fare. Nancy and her friends solve the mystery of the haunted bridge while vacationing. Nancy also wins a golf tournament. And helps her father with one of his cases. And helps a young woman prove that she isn't a thief. Yep, Nancy still has it!

Have I mentioned at any point that Cole's going to be in Pennsylvania for a week? Well, he is. There's a wedding on his dad's side of the family that he's going to. I'll be kid-less for an entire week. Boo. I mean, it's nice the first day or so and then it's ... not. It's kinda boring. Who will I get to help with their homework? Who will I make dinner for in the evening? Me. That's who. Yep, I'm going to miss the boy.

I think I'm done now.

I am home alone. My mom and grandma went out to the Taste of Morgan Hill street fair. Cole's heading to Carmel with his dad to visit his other grandparents. Hailey is *gasp* with her mom today. It's just me. And Bailey. But Bailey's somewhere under my bed sleeping. So, it's just me. I could totally dance around the house singing at the top of my lungs and no one except the neighbors would know. Awesome!

Yeah. I'm probably not going to do that. The point is that I could.

Anyway. Last night I caught up on this week's Supernatural and Fringe. I have a few more things I want to watch before Monday, but I'm feeling pretty good about myself right now. As a plus? I'm up to episode 4 of season 3 of Supernatural. I had to break down and buy season 4 last night so I could keep right on marathoning it. :) Yay! Winchester boys!

Oh, oh, oh! Hailey's team won their soccer game! I think this is the first game they've won. Hailey was a little bummed that she didn't get to play in goal at all, but that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. So! A win for Team Hailey!

I have a book to finish and more episodes of Supernatural to watch. I had to break down and re-upload some of my favorite SPN icons because I was tired of not having any appropriate Winchester icons to express my SPN glee!

I'm done! Also, I'm hungry. I didn't eat breakfast this morning. Whoops.

I woke up this morning with the theme song to the old Popeye cartoon stuck in my head. O_o Complete with the Popeye voice singing it. Why? Why? Honestly, I have no answer since I didn't really like that cartoon back in the day and haven't seen an episode in years and years and years.

It's foggy enough outside that I'm considering popping in the original The Fog JUST BECAUSE! Seriously, I can't see across the street. I told the kids as I was taking them to school that I was going to have to turn around because I could barely see the road. Unfortunately for them, we made it there with no problems and I did not have to turn back. *evil laugh*

I finally started Book #100.

Now comes the completely scary fangirl stuff ... I'm up to episode 19 of Supernatural season 2. You can try to do the math on this and figure out that I've been watching a buttload of eps every day. I think I started this marathon over the last weekend. Meaning? I watched almost two complete seasons in a week. That may not be impressive to some people, but I'm impressed with myself. Or scared of myself. Whatever.

My dog has burrowed herself under my pillows. I know she's there because I watched her do it, but I can't see her at all. She's like a phantom dog. Sometimes I think it would be interesting to have the life of a dag. Eat. Sniff. Sleep. Sniff. Eat. Pee. Sniff. Walk. Sleep. Sleep. Eat. Whew! Tough day! I better take a nap to recharge my batteries! So I can go sniff some more later. And then eat. And then sleep again. And then play ball and run around the house like a possessed wolverine. The animal, not the guy.

Why, yes, I do think of stuff like this all the time. Why do you ask?

I'm done now. I have to decide if I'm going to throw myself back into Supernatural and finish off the season or go with the possessed fog. Decisions, decisions.
Later.

Dudes. I really need to get myself some Winchester boys icons. Really!

In a shocking twist, it hasn't been nearly as hot the last few days as the weather forecasters would have led us to believe. It's also incredibly foggy this morning. Not the crazy fog that we had the other day where I couldn't see across the street, but still enough that my mountain is buried behind it. Please let this mean that Fall is coming in with a vengeance! Pleeeaaaaase!

Completely randomly ... [livejournal.com profile] oddmonster, I had a dream the other day that you were going to be visiting us here in the West. Yes? Wishful thinking? Seriously, it was a very vivid dream. And I choose to believe that I can see the future. *nods*

I still haven't read book #100.

My goal for the day is to vacuum. That's it. Just vacuum. And watch some more Supernatural. Which reminds me. What was with all the Jo hate in season 2? I liked her. I still like her. I watched No Exit last night (the one where the guys and Jo investigate the first serial killer and Jo and Dean pretend to be boyfriend/girlfriend) and I think it's one of the creepiest eps in the first part of the season. Plus? I kept hoping that Jo and Dean would hook up in a dirty, dirty way. Like, when they were in the walls of the building and pressed up against one another. Word! But, no. It didn't happen. So, I'm left with fanfic. *sigh*

Alright. I'm done now.

Cole woke up this morning with bug bites on his ankles and legs. I decided to strip everything off his bed and wash it. Everything. Down to the mattress. I'm not sure if they're flea bites (we give both the dog and cat flea treatments, so it shouldn't be that ...) but I figured it wouldn't hurt to wash everything. So. I've been doing laundry this morning. Just three loads but it feels like a lot. Maybe that's because I usually only do one load at a time. Except when I have to do whites. Then I do a regular load and a whites load. Is this too much info? Like, more than you'd ever want to know about my laundering habits? Ha! Laundering habits.

Yeah. So, this recent spate of flistees who have been watching old eps of Supernatural made me all nostalgic. I'm on the final episode of season 1 now. Season 1 was really good. There were a few episodes that didn't quite have that bang, but for the most part it's a solid season. Next up? Season 2, of course.

Bailey has her nose pressed against my screen as she watches all the people doing their people-y things down below. And the birds doing their birdy things. And the bugs doing their buggy things. It's possible she's getting ready to take a nap. Sometimes it's hard to tell.

In book related news, I have two books sitting here waiting to be read and I haven't picked up either of them yet. This will be book #100, I just need to knock that one out of the park. Word!

Time to finish Devil's Trap.

Holy smokes! I was sitting here at the computer being all intent and focused and stuff when all of a sudden I realized that my focus had completely failed me and I was floating in la-la land. When I stopped and thought about it, it hit me that I hadn't eaten yet today. Two cups of coffee aren't quite the same as really eating. Seriously, I was out of it. It came on in the blink of an eye. I was with it and doing my thing and then I totally wasn't. Crazy.

So, now I've eaten. I feel much more human and not at all like I'm about to fall over. Yay! Food!

So, the thing that totally captured my attention (until it didn't) was the monumental task of keeping my Squidoo pages up to date. No, it's not monumental, it's just something I really have to sit down and focus on. However, I've now updated nearly all of them. Super! I hope I'm not going to be annoying when I ask (very nicely) that any feedback on these would be much appreciated. Any. Whether it's telling me that the categories I chose for the movies are completely whack or to give me ideas on new things I can add. You can even tell em that I suck. I would prefer that you didn't, honestly, but I'll go with it if that's what you have to say.

Anyway. Anybody who cares to can either leave a comment here or on the page in particular. There's a comment option hidden away at the bottom of each page. I'm just kidding. It's not actually hidden. :)

Okay. I finished yesterday's book.
Book #93 - The Clue of the Dancing Puppet by Carolyn Keene - I was kind of stuck on how they were going to explain away the dancing puppet in this one. It worked out well, don't get me wrong, I just wasn't expecting it. So, Nancy helps an amateur acting group with the pesky problem of a puppet that dances without strings. She also steals the show as the lead in their play and makes an enemy of the girl who was previously the lead. Overall, an interesting book.

I'm exhausted right now. I feel like I've crammed a day's worth of stuff into a few hours. *sigh* I haven't watched Supernatural yet, but I hope to get to that today. Or at least before the weekend's over. That reminds me! I recorded a bunch of Warehouse 13 episodes a while back and just finished them off. I like that show. It started off so-so, but it's really picked up lately. It's just fun. I wasn't sure about it when I watched the pilot, but I like the bantering between Pete and Myka. They're just fun to watch. And the plot lines have really picked up, I think. They're fun and engaging.

Okay. I know it's early, but I might have to take a nap. Heck, my dog's already napping. Why can't I?

Okay. I'm caught up on Supernatural. Well, except for the one that's on right now. But I'll watch that soon. I only have one episode of Dollhouse left to watch. This is down from the 4 I needed to watch yesterday. Yes, I watched a lot of TV today. I was really tired and didn't want to do anything. In fact, the only things I currently have on my DVR is 1 ep of Dollhouse, this week's Fringe and the shows that are on today. Considering what I had on there at the beginning of the week, that's freaking phenomenal!

By the by, Cole and I have been watching the Life After People series on the History channel and it's really, really good. It's kinda neat watching all our big cities fall and be swallowed up by nature. Anyway. If you have the chance, give it a try.

I posted a new wallpaper at [profile] bay12. Yay! I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do about my obsessive picture taking. *thinking, thinking* Yeah, I got nothing.

Well, pretty much I watched TV all day and cooked. Did I cook? No, I guess I didn't. Cutting a watermelon isn't cooking, is it?

Cole's spending the night with his dad and yet I still have a kid hanging out in my room. Hailey decided that she wants to sleep with me tonight. Umm. Okay. Old episodes of Scooby Doo (have I mentioned that I've seen these about a million times because I have them on DVD?) are playing behind me and she's conked out on my bed. Good times, people. Good times.

As of today I have a total of 21 reviews up at [livejournal.com profile] blabapalooza this month. That's a ridiculous amount. I'm going to aim for 30 in 30 days next month. Do you think I can do it? I do. I just have to make an effort to watch a reviewable movie a day. This is on top of getting my new freelance writing career going strong. Totally do-able.

Supernatural was good. Probably one of the best of the season thus far. I can't figure out what I know Anna from, but I'm cool with that. I think.

Joshua Jackson is pretty damn hot. Yum.

Hmm. Now I'm catching up with Fringe. I'm still completely unimpressed with Anna Torv's acting. She's just this expressionless piece of plastic. Sometimes I think she might look good with JJ, but most of the time I think she's just far too bland for him.

Here are the icons that [livejournal.com profile] townbros chose for me when I was breaking out of my shell and commenting on his icon post. :) I'd go the whole nine yards and tell you to comment and I'll choose 6 of your icons to tell me about, but I know that I'll never follow through with that and everyone will be waiting for their icons and then we'll all be sad. So. Here are my icons.

1.
My default icon. I found it while browsing through icons made by [livejournal.com profile] windsong_icons and fell in love with that little smudge of red in the center. Somehow this icon works with any layout I pick.

2.
Ha! Ten saying "barbeque". Does this really need an explanation? Yes? Well, I use it whenever there's something so random that only the word "barbeque" can help explain it. Ten's my secret TV boyfriend and he's incredibly random himself so this somehow makes perfect sense. Made by [livejournal.com profile] itwontbecalm.

3.
Another one by [livejournal.com profile] windsong_icons, this one features Gwen from Torchwood. All I can say is that some days are so bad that you just have to whimper your way through them. You know what I mean. Gwen reminds me of Zooey Deschanel with her coloring and haircut. That doesn't have much to do with why I chose this icon, but it's information you can file away for later.

4.
Ooh! An icon by [livejournal.com profile] neversince! Sarah from The Sarah Connor Chronicles is tough, dedicated and beautiful. She holds the future of the human race in her hands. How can you not respect that? I love the coloring in this one.

5.
Another one by [livejournal.com profile] neversince! This one features the Metallicar and it totally captures the fandom obsession that can grab hold of me when I get involved with those Winchester boys. Supernatural! Woot!

6.
This icon was made by [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis and it is just so fun! Feet! In the grass!

Word! Cole and I are watching National Treasure. Fun.
[livejournal.com profile] jenahville stopped by for a few hours today. We sat and talked and walked around the complex. I got to show off my pretty, pretty house which I still haven't taken pictures of.

You know what? I'm getting tired. How sad is that. It's not even 8 yet.

Oops. I didn't post yesterday. I was going to. I was. But [livejournal.com profile] malkovich03 is back from her honeymoon and I stupidly forgot that we had planned to go to dinner yesterday and instead she came over and we sat around talking and visiting. We watched most of Juno (a movie that I enjoy but don't go crazy over) and then it was 11:30 or so and I realized that the most I'd be saying was that Mal had come over and we hadn't done much. Thus, I didn't journal.

Was that an incredibly roundabout way of saying next to nothing?

Anyway. I really didn't do much yesterday. I had a lot of stuff planned, but everything fell by the wayside of a lazy day. I did manage to squeeze in a 3-ish hour nap. Don't ask me how that happened. All of a sudden I was sleeping and then it was three hours later. Maybe it was only 2 1/2. Whatever.

That means that all the stuff I was going to do yesterday but didn't get around to got done today. I did some Christmas shopping (those of you who know me will be amazed to hear that this is the first gift I've bought. I KNOW! Usually I'm nearly done at this point!) and did some clothes shopping (for myself). I caught up on Supernatural. I started my next book (which won't count since I've already read it this year). I finished my laundry. I did some food shopping. I took a nap.

I totally rocked today.

I think I need to kick back and relax now.

Book #117 - Definitely Dead by Charlaine Harris - Book six in the Sookie Stackhouse series has Sookie traveling to New Orleans to clean out her dead cousin's house. Of course she runs into some trouble with the local vampires. And Werewolves. And various other shifters. She gets beaten up. More than once. And Quinn's still hanging around. When's he going to leave again?

I have four days off. I think I might be catching up on those shows I've missed (SPN, True Blood, and some random other ones) and some movies that I've been wanting to watch. FYI, the SPN episode Yellow Fever is making me laugh. Dean's being such a fraidy-cat. Ha! Good times.

Speaking of good times ... guess who's back from her honeymoon? [livejournal.com profile] malkovich03!! We're planning on going to dinner tomorrow night. Yay! Yayyayyay! Yay!

I still have no idea what Cole are going to do this weekend besides be lazy and sit around watching TV. Maybe I should get on that.

And now I'm going to finish this ep of SPN.

I got back not too long ago from [livejournal.com profile] malkovich03's bridal shower. I won the contest for knowing Mal the best! Awesome! I also got to announce my fear of clowns loudly to the room when I looked over and realized that I was standing next to a curio cabinet full of ceramic clowns. Yikes! What would make someone collect something like that? I think severed hands would be a more appropriate thing to collect, don't you? I can already hear [livejournal.com profile] oddmonster nodding vigorously. :)

I caught up on the shows I'd bypassed earlier this week (mostly for being utterly exhausted, thank you) - Supernatural was good and for some reason this season's main story arc makes me want to finish off the story I wrote last year dealing with Dean's deal into Hell. The Office was pretty damn good. That said, I don't feel quite as invested in the characters as I was back when I marathoned the first 3 seasons like someone on crack. SGA is still good. I'm still in love with Ronon. Naturally.

And now my DVR is empty. How sad.

I'm going to go finish my book.
Later.

ETA - Book #96 - Sorceress of Darshiva: Book Four of the Mallorean by David Eddings - Now this series is really moving. The heroes are on the brink of learning where the final battle will take place to defeat the Child of Dark and raise a new God is Mallorea. Awesome.

Holy crap! I hadn't finished a single book thus far this month. That's terrible. Terrible! However ...
Book #30 - Morgawr (The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara Book 3) by Terry Brooks - As a general rule I've enjoyed all the books in the Shannara series. This one was no different. I probably should have gone back and read the first 2 in this particular series before jumping in with both feet (especially considering I read them more than a year ago ... more like 2 years ago), but I liked it. Even though it took me a bit before I remembered who was who. Shannara! Woot!

I spent a whole lot of quality time today with my mom and grandma. We went shopping at Costco and Trader Joe's and had a nice lunch at Eric's Deli. Nice. Speaking of Costco. I scored Supernatural season 2 for a mere $18.99. Sweet. I also picked up Veronica Mars season 3 (also for $18.99), I Am Legend (2 disc collector edition!) and The Abyss (love that movie!). All in all, a pretty good shopping day.

Of course, all that movie buying means that I had to rearrange my dvds. Honestly, I look for any excuse to do that. I also had 3 books that were hanging out without a permanent home and I did some minor rearranging of the new bookcase to get them where they needed to be. I'm obsessed with that bookcase.

I'm done now. I'm going to read my 31st book tonight. Just kidding. It'll take me a day or two. :)
