Nothing else matters ...

I'm going to lunch with one of my old work friends later today, so I thought I'd better get on the ball this morning and do my thing. Plus, oddmonster is getting ready to use her big voice on me if I don't do the promised icon meme. :)

First off:
Book #109 - The High King (The Chronicles of Prydain - Book 5) by Lloyd Alexander - This was a very satisfying ending to the series. There was much action and sword fighting and epic battles. The main character, Taran, had a lot of growth from the first book to the last. Of course it ended how I thought it would end. But I was okay with that. Definitely worth a read if you can get past the tongue twisting Welsh names.

I have one more book that I'd like to get read before the end of the year, but nothing else is pressing on me insistently.

Secondly:

This morning I was taking a shower and Hailey and Ruby were sitting in the bathroom talking to me (which is why I usually shower when no one's home ... PRIVACY!) and we had a long discussion about what color our snot currently is. We've both progressed to clear if anyone really needs to know. But we're both still pretty stuffed up. Yes, Hailey caught my cold. She informed me (quite snootily, might I add) that I "gave her a stuffy nose!" Nice.

I think I've written a long enough post for the day. I've covered all the topics I was planning on covering and now I can move on to my next thing.

I made this delicious ham and havarti sandwich for dinner tonight and it was a perfect blend of flavors. I grilled it without buttering the bread and it turned out toasty and slightly warm. I wasn't sure how it was going to work, but it was delish. Definitely a keeper recipe.

Anyway.

I also read another book today.

Book #28 - Pretties (Uglies Book 2) by Scott Westerfeld - During the first half of the book, I kept thinking that I liked the first book more and then all of a sudden the book exploded on me and I couldn't stop reading it. Tally gave herself up to become a Pretty to test the cure, only now she doesn't remember any of the plan. Figuring it out through the haze of Pretty-headedness isn't easy, but she does it and figures out some things along the way. I'm definitely interested in seeing where the next book goes. At some point I'm going to have to break down and buy it. Woot!

Cole was in a grumpy mood when he came home from school (he lost another football and I told him I wasn't buying him any more) and he announced that he wanted to watch Twilight. So we did. He seemed to enjoy it although I'm sure he'll deny with every breath.

On top of all this, I spent the morning updated all my web pages ...

Here are the icons that townbros chose for me when I was breaking out of my shell and commenting on his icon post. :) I'd go the whole nine yards and tell you to comment and I'll choose 6 of your icons to tell me about, but I know that I'll never follow through with that and everyone will be waiting for their icons and then we'll all be sad. So. Here are my icons.

My default icon. I found it while browsing through icons made by windsong_icons and fell in love with that little smudge of red in the center. Somehow this icon works with any layout I pick.

2.
Ha! Ten saying "barbeque". Does this really need an explanation? Yes? Well, I use it whenever there's something so random that only the word "barbeque" can help explain it. Ten's my secret TV boyfriend and he's incredibly random himself so this somehow makes perfect sense. Made by itwontbecalm.

3.
Another one by windsong_icons, this one features Gwen from Torchwood. All I can say is that some days are so bad that you just have to whimper your way through them. You know what I mean. Gwen reminds me of Zooey Deschanel with her coloring and haircut. That doesn't have much to do with why I chose this icon, but it's information you can file away for later.

4.
Ooh! An icon by neversince! Sarah from The Sarah Connor Chronicles is tough, dedicated and beautiful. She holds the future of the human race in her hands. How can you not respect that? I love the coloring in this one.

5.
Another one by neversince! This one features the Metallicar and it totally captures the fandom obsession that can grab hold of me when I get involved with those Winchester boys. Supernatural! Woot!

6.
This icon was made by oxoniensis and it is just so fun! Feet! In the grass!

Word! Cole and I are watching National Treasure. Fun.
jenahville stopped by for a few hours today. We sat and talked and walked around the complex. I got to show off my pretty, pretty house which I still haven't taken pictures of.

You know what? I'm getting tired. How sad is that. It's not even 8 yet.

I almost don't believe this myself, but I've been making icons. I KNOW! Crazy stuff.

Today was a very ... interesting day. There was my foray into San Francisco. I guess I'm just a country (or little city) girl at heart because all those people just walking around kinda freaked me out. Plus, parking sucks. I had to valet park my car because I couldn't handle driving around the damn block again to see if the entrance to the other parking garage was unblocked on the 2nd go-around.

The video shoot was kinda fun. I KNOW I said something about how if we don't change we become stagnant and then we're just water that's not moving and which probably smells a little. *face palm* It did make the people in the room laugh, but I didn't mean to say it until it came out of my mouth. Anyway.

Also, I had a make-up artist. Hee! Of course, I had to wash my face as soon as I got home because I felt like I was wearing a MASK of make-up but it was kinda cool to have someone whose job it was to make sure I wasn't all shiny.

Did I mention that I've been making icons? neversince is running a gigantic icon project over at virtuosities which I didn't sign up for, but I've been having fun using random caps from the icon project to make things. Caps I wouldn't normally use. Fandoms I wouldn't normally icon. Wait. I rarely icon at all, so any fandom is a fandom I don't normally icon.

Anyway.

I might try to make a few more before I post them. Out!

I made icccoooonnnnnsssss today. Just 4. Just 8. Because 8 is a pretty number. It's not quite as nice as 3. Or 7. Or 17. But it's still acceptable. Plus, it's all I made.

I haven't done much today. It's been one of those lazy, let's-play-X-box days. Not to mention that it's been raining on and off (my mom tells me that we got around 1/4 inch!) and I don't want to DO anything. You know?

On top of the sluggishness that has infected me, my sister has been angsting all day about throwing her boyfriend out yesterday. Now that he's out of the house, she's learning a lot of things about him that make all of us go ... huh? Like, he complains about his mother all the time and says she's crazy, blah, blah, blah, yet when Heather spoke with the mother today she told H that she's been giving him money for who knows how long to help out with bills and such ... money which he never told H he was getting even though he rarely paid rent here and knew that both my mom and sister were struggling every month to make ends meet. That's seriously fucked up. Therefore, I don't feel sorry for him at all.

So, there!

In other news (or perhaps not if you've read any of the recent comments), I'm totally obsessed over the newest X-Men movie. Totally.Obsessed. Yeah, that never happens to me. No, sirree! So, icons, icons, headers, more icons and another header have been made. All in the name of X. (kimbrchick, you will be seeing those movies at some point. I decree it. And whatever Kelly wants Kelly gets. Mostly.) Despite jenahville's kind offer to help me figure out how to post things without Frontpage, I've decided to muddle along for a bit longer. Therefore, I still can't post anything. Yeah, sometimes I'm a dork.
