Ahh. Another month. Another day of lovely fall-like weather. Just chilly enough that I should be wearing socks. I'm not, but I should be.

This morning I wrote out a couple of things I want to get done today. I've already crossed the [livejournal.com profile] blabapalooza September recap off my list. Yay! Speaking of which, I'm going to try to post a few horror movie reviews this month. For anyone who didn't read all the way through the recap, you're welcome to join me. The more horror the better! And there's always room for more reviewers, if anyone's interested.

I'm heading out in a bit with [livejournal.com profile] iron_knife to try to sell some of my old DVDs at Streetlight. Hopefully, I'll be able to get a bit of money for them. Hopefully.

Since today is my hooky day (Eric put it as "playing hooky from playing hooky" ... hmmph!) with no kids and few responsibilities, I slept in. Of course, sleeping in for me means sleeping until 6:30. Seriously, it was awesome. I would have lounged around in bed longer but my pup wanted to get up and go for her morning walk. Ahh, the life of a dog owner. You know, the grass where I take her to do her business was very, very wet this morning. It got the bottoms of my AWESOME orange and yellow plaid sleeping pants rather damp. I must have made a lovely sight walking around in those things.

Okay. I'm done. Streetlight and Best Buy, here I come!

I watched a movie today. It was not good. I reviewed it at [livejournal.com profile] blabapalooza. You can thank me later for watching this one for you.

In other news, I totally went window shopping at Best Buy with [livejournal.com profile] iron_knife. He didn't window shop. Just me. I just looked. Because it's been a while since I wandered a well laid out Best Buy.

I really didn't get the things done today that I had planned to get done. I'll move those over to tomorrow's list. And maybe add getting my registration onto my car. Maybe. That might be too much for me, though.

I'm done.
Later.

One of the things I've been planning to get done this "vacation" (or whatever you want to call it) is getting the oil changed on my car and getting the smog certificate so that I can pay my registration. Well, I finally got that done. [livejournal.com profile] iron_knife was kind enough to go with me to drop off my car so that I wouldn't be stranded there waiting. Yay! We wandered down to Gilroy to go to the Barnes & Noble and Best Buy (what? Sometimes they have different things at different locations.) and ate at Sonic. I've never eaten at Sonic. It was very exciting with the ordering and all that. The food was good, but not outstanding. I totally got tater tots with my burger. That was cool.

Anyway. After picking up my car from the service station and Cole from school, I came home and took the longest nap. It was one of those naps that you can't wake up from. I kept trying. It just wasn't happening. So two and a half hours later I finally dragged myself out of bed and forced myself to get moving. I really hope this isn't the medication I'm on. I don't think I can afford to take those sort of naps on a workday. Or maybe I can.

While Cole was playing on the Wii with his dad earlier I decided to watch The Invasion. The one with Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig. It wasn't terrible. It wasn't really good either, but I didn't hate it so much that I turned it off. I think Nicole Kidman is so pretty. But Daniel Craig's hair in this one? Terrible. It was like they forgot to hire a stylist for him and let him comb it himself. Bad. Very bad.

Now I'm watching Jumper. That movie is always on one of the movie channels we get. Seriously, I've seen it 10 or so times. It's great background noise.

I think I'm done now. Later.

Since I kinda sucked at journalling in the month of December, I'm making an effort to sit down and get the first one of the new year knocked out.

First off, I set my 2008 book reading goal at 120 for the year. I read 121. I read #121 on December 9th and I haven't even picked up a book since then. This isn't to say that I don't have a new batch of books to start on, I just didn't read any of them.

That said, I'm going for an even 100 this year. 120 was do-able (as shown by the fact that I did it) but 100 feels good. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I need to get back to my healthy eating. I've been eating very poorly since ... October? It's bad. I need to get Cole eating a little better as well. That's going to be fun.

I don't think I wrote anything last year. Nothing. No fanfic. Nothing. That's just sad. And slightly pathetic.

You know, I didn't do much today. Cole and I watched some Star Wars and quite a few episodes of the Bones marathon on some station. I straightened up my section of our storage area downstairs (mostly because I was looking for 2 pictures and a shelf) and wanted to take a nap but got caught up organizing my closet. I actually have room for things in there now. How nice. Now I'm watching the first Hellboy movie because it's been a while and I want to re-watch the 2nd again. Somehow that makes sense. To me.

There you have it. I slept through midnight last night although I was jerked out of sleep at 12:06 by some jackass with those stupid ass poppers that go on for all eternity. I love how they pop and pop and pop and you think they're done and 10 minutes later they start up again. Yeah, I hate those things.

Maybe Cole will decide he wants to sleep in his own room tonight.
Oh, and if anyone is dying to know, I totally didn't wake up in the middle of the night because I couldn't breathe. I just woke up because of those stupid poppers. Yay! I knew I was on the mend. I knew it!

Is this long enough?
[livejournal.com profile] iron_knife, did you see my comment to your comment about Best Buy? Do I need to comment again?
Oh. The movie's over. It's time to put in the next.
Later!

I have a ridiculous amount of comments to catch up on. I'm not even sure some of my responses will be relevant at this point. Disco is still the wave of the future, right? I mean, I'm not so hopelessly out of date that my neon leg warmers are ready to make a comeback. Or am I?

Yeah, I've been wrapped up in my own little world lately. It consists of taking my son to school, reading an insane amount of words, and worrying about when I'm going to get to move into my house. That said, I took Cole to school this morning, started a new book while I had my hair done, signed some paperwork for my house (not the big stuff, just some minor paperwork), went to lunch with my mom (wherein we talked about the new house and how much longer it would take to get into it), picked Cole up from school, stopped at Target to buy some school supplies (of which they were out of quite a bit) and came home. I decided to try to chain my events together today since I had things to do in MH and didn't feel like driving back and forth.

Now I'm back to work tomorrow after my two lovely days off. Boo.

I did finish a book, though.
Book #86 - The Chronicles of Pern: First Fall by Anne McCaffrey - A bunch of short stories. They were good.

I also had to ferry my mom to Best Buy to buy a new computer. Her old one (it was only a year and a half old!) just died. The tech said it was the motherboard and it would cost more to fix it than the computer was worth. Okay. We bought a pretty new Dell that's amazingly fast and very quiet. Such a change over the old one.

Alright. I'm done.

I had a ... not really productive, but I still did lot day. The thing that really stands out in my mind is how I scored Lost season 3 for a mere $10.81. How? you ask. It's on sale at Best Buy for $29.99 and I had a $20 gift card. That, my friends, is a pretty sweet deal. I also ran into some friends I hadn't seen in a while and we chatted in the music section. Cool.

What else did I do? I went grocery shopping with my mom (with a minor stop of Costco) and took an awesome 2 hour nap. Good times, people. Good times.

Cole and I have been playing bowling on the Wii for the past hour or so. I like the one where they keep adding pins. I find it funny that I say that at all because I really don't like bowling in real life. It makes my wrist hurt and I don't think it's terribly fun. Anyway. Cole and I had a good time. Damn, that boy's competitive. I'm all for having a good time and doing what you can do but he's like "Mom! I didn't get a strike on my first ball! I have to start over!". Just, wow.

Time to get the boy to bed.

I just watched Friday Night Lights and Tim Riggins just gets prettier and prettier every time I see him. I think I'm going to watch The Covenant once I'm done journaling just to get a little more Kitsch time. Word.

Some time before Christmas I told my mom that I really, really needed to buy a new bookcase. She asked me if I could wait until Heather moved out. At the time I could wait. Now? I can't. I told my mom that I had rearranged as much as humanly possible and I still didn't have enough room for all my books and movies. Woe! I must buy a new bookcase.

I also think I'm going to try to pop into Best Buy tomorrow and buy Lost season 3. If it's on sale. :)

And that it all.

ETA: Book #9 - Anita Blake Vampire Hunter: Guilty Pleasures, volume 1 by Laurell K. Hamilton - This is the comic adaptation of LKH's 1st Anita Blake book. Ye, gods! It's pretty. This takes issues 1-6 and puts them together in a gorgeous hardcover book with all the variant covers and other random pretties. It's kinda making me want to go back and re-read the original novel. Cool.

Omg! I have so much to post about.
First ... Book #88 - A Stroke of Midnight by Laurell K. Hamilton - The more I read this series the more I like it. In fact I just ordered the next 2 books so I can get a little more of my Fey fix on. Anyway. Fairies! Yay! And not sweet and playful fairies, fairies that would rip your guts out and feed them to you. Awesome.

Second -- I took my computer in to Best Buy today and it's all fixed. It was amazing. The even better thing? They didn't charge me for it. Overall, a pretty good Best Buy trip. Much better than the time I went there to pick up the Indiana Jones trilogy and they only had it in full screen. Blech.

Third ~~~ I really want to talk about Disneyland. So I will! )

There may be more later. I'm just not sure.

Book # 85 - A Taste of Crimson by Marjorie M. Liu - 2nd in the Crimson City series. I have no idea why I had such a hard time starting this book since I DEVOURED it once I picked it up. It's very good. *nods* So, the question is: Can a vampire and a werewolf overcome the ages old animosity between their species to find happiness together? In the Crimson City anything is possible.

I went to Best Buy today. *sigh* I hadn't been there in a while. It was nice. I bought Transformers and 28 Weeks Later. My grandma went with me and she made me go with her the Expo center before our Best Buy run. I had to help her pick out bathroom faucets. It wasn't terrible, but I'm big on making a decision and going with it. My grandma? Not so much. She agonized over whether she picked the right one until I had to forbid her from changing her mind again.

Ooh. That scene in Revenge of the Sith where Anakin catches on fire. Yuck. Yep, I'm watching it on HBO. Just killing time until Cole gets home from karate.

I almost forgot that I have now watched all my backed-up TV shows. I'm all caught up. I only have last weeks episode of SGA on my DVR and I've watched it twice now because Ronon is so freaking HOT! I'm not quite ready to delete it. :) So. I'm caught up. Until Friday night because I won't be able to watch all my shows tomorrow since we're leaving fairly early Saturday morning for Disneyland. Rock it!

Cole will be home soon. Toodles.

It would appear that I've been slightly MIA. Oops. I've had stuff. You know. Stuff. Let's see. On Thursday I had a manager dinner. It was yummy. It was followed by bowling which I suck at. Blech. I had a good time, I'm just horrible at it. Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] malkovich03 talked me into going to dinner with her. We went to a place in Santana Row called Pluto's which was very good. I have no idea how long we spent in the restaurant, but it was quite a while. We had a lot to talk about. We hadn't seen each other for 2 WHOLE WEEKS! *gasp* Then we wandered over to Best Buy and browsed and browsed and browsed. I bought the new Rilo Kiley CD and season 1 of Heroes. Btw, I'm done buying things between now and my birthday. I'm just sayin'.

Today has been a fun nothing day. Cole went camping with his dad yesterday and I'm just lazing around waiting for him to get home. I was going to try to do laundry or something, but it seems like too much work. So, I've watched part of Eight Legged Freaks and read a bit.

I've also been having some WEIRD dreams. Dreams where Dane Cook is my brother and I stole his dogs. I've never seen Dane Cook in anything and the only reason I know who he is is through my flist, yet he was my brother. Weird. Plus, why am I stealing his dogs? Sure, they were cute dogs, but WHY?

I think I'm going to get back to my book. I have a reading reputation to uphold, you know.

Ooh! I totally forgot to mention that as I was driving home from work yesterday I saw a school of NINJAS practicing their stealthy-ninja skills. It was so OMG!Awesome! Ninjas! Okay, okay. Possibly it was a class of karate people, but I choose to believe that I saw the ancient secrets of the NINJA being passed down from teacher to student. I think I could have been a ninja in a former life. I just feel the vibe sometimes.

Alright. It's Friday night and I haven't watched any good/bad sci-fi movies in ages. I am so tempted to be veggie-like and drown myself in bad monster movies. Yet, I have a couple of eps of season 3 of The Office to re-watch and I really, really want to start Friday Night Lights soon. Like, now. Yet? Monster/Sci-Fi movies. I am so torn.

On the resolution front, I haven't read any books since last Saturday's HP speed read. I started two (2!) but they kinda got put on the back burner. Hmm. I'll have to get back on that.

On the other resolution front, I can say with complete confidence that I have lost 6.5 pounds since I made my resolution. Maybe, just maybe, I'll feel good about putting that bathing suit on when we hit the pool at Disneyland in a couple of months. Unless it rains (like it did last time the entire fam went to D-land. The ENTIRE time!), in which case we won't be hitting the pool at all. *raises glass* Here's to more lost poundage! For the record, unlike lost luggage, you actually want to lose the poundage.

I'm a little kooky today. I went to Best Buy about an hour ago because I as convinced that Hot Fuzz came out this past Tuesday. No. It didn't. *face palm* However, I did pick up season 10 of SG-1. That means that I own all seasons and can watch them WHENEVER I WANT! That is so awesome!

I'm tired-ish (not terribly tired, but sorta tired) because I got a ton of things done today. I went to Walmart this morning to buy a HDMI cable for the new TV, picked up a prescription that I sent to have refilled SIX WEEKS AGO (I guess it's my fault it didn't get filled in a timely manner. I mean, when it says that your doctor must be contacted, I guess it doesn't mean that they'll contact her for you. It means that you have to contact her and figure out how to get your fucking prescription refilled. No, I'm not bitter. Despite that, I still like Kaiser.), went to Best Buy to pick up SGA season 2, and had lunch with my sister. And by "lunch" I mean that she went and got us sandwiches and we ate on the couch in the general vicinity of each other.

Also, when I went to Best Buy I ended up buying a new TV stand for our AWESOMELY HUGE TV. I finished putting the stand together a couple of hours ago and then Amb and Phil had to come over to help us maneuver the TV onto it. It's so pretty. The picture! We don't actually have sound and picture at the same time yet, but we're working on fixing that. :)

Last night, [livejournal.com profile] jenahville and I brainstormed and decided to start a reviewing site.
[livejournal.com profile] blabapalooza [livejournal.com profile] blabapalooza [livejournal.com profile] blabapalooza
For the record, that's harder to type than you would think. So, reviews on TV shows, movies, and whatever else we decide to review will be there. Thus far, Jenn is out-reviewing me by a lot. She's done 3. I've done 0. Z.E.R.O. That may be my next task for myself. Or maybe I'll finish cleaning my room.

Cole's still running a fever, but he went over to his dad's for a bit to give me time to wash the sheets and air out the room. What a considerate kid.

ETA: I added a review for Night of the Comet to [livejournal.com profile] blabapalooza.

I had a long post in my head that composed itself throughout the day. It was funny. It was interesting. It was engaging. I've completely forgotten it now. Boo.

On an interesting note, I did go to Best Buy for the first time in a couple of weeks. Oh, the wonders of that store. I bought movies and computer software and a TV show for Cole! Life is sweet. Yes, I spent slightly more than I had planned on spending, but I can handle that.

I'm dying to watch the first episode of Avatar the Last Airbender but Cole's not here at the moment and since I did buy it for him I guess I should wait until he's home.

Cole got a whole heck of a lot of pencils for Christmas (the kid LOOOOVVVVVEEEES pencils. Go figure.) and they're almost overwhelming my pens.

Now I'm done.

I got my hair done today. It much blonder than it has been for the past year. Hmm ... I originally wrote that it was "blander". Subconcious much? Anyway. It's pretty cool. I've decided to try to grow it out a bit because I've been thinking about it ever since [livejournal.com profile] malkovich03 mentioned it. Thanks, Mal. Thanks. We'll see how I do with the in-between stages. You know, where it flips out annoyingly and looks like you stuck your finger in a light socket? Actually, skip that light socket thing because mine won't look like that. It'll just be shaggy. Like I said, hopefully I'll be able to handle it.

Now to cement my place in the Weird People Hall of Fame ... everybody knows how I always have to have a project otherwise my life feels dull and meaningless? Yeah. My latest iPod project is to listen to all my songs from the beginning of this year. Basically, I started with songs that were last listened to in January and have been working my way steadily through. I'm up to February 27. I've also calculated that I can listen to an average of 20 songs on my drives to and from work. Cool. *yes, the Weird People Hall of Fame is drafting their letter to me right now.*

Tomorrow, [livejournal.com profile] kimbrchick, [livejournal.com profile] jenahville, myself and the kids will be getting together. Movies, madness and tacos! Oh, my!

Speaking of movies (and really, this doesn't have much to do with movies at all), I went to Fry's on my lunch on Friday ... Don't tell Best Buy! I don't want it to feel sad and/or angry with me ... and they had all the Stargate SG-1 seasons on sale for $20 each. These are the thinpak versions. Skinny Stargate! One of my regular versions is equal to THREE of the thinpaks. So, I bought all 9 seasons. *hangs head* As much as I normally loathe Fry's, that was totally worth it. 3=1. Just keep that in mind.

Did I mention that I've been listening to music all day? Since Cole's at his dad's and I'm having some much needed time to myself. *sigh* It's been fun.

I'm out.

I had to stay at work late. Yuck.

Today on my lunch, [livejournal.com profile] ebarnon and I went to the giant Best Buy at Santana Row. It was ... awesomely huge. Yes, I've been there before but it was lovely and so close to the new branch. Tee-hee. Eric also poured a bucket of cheese grease out of his bean burrito. Gross. Ha! I finally get to use my "bean burrito" tag again. I've been waiting for so long.

I watched the second episode of Heroes last night (I kinda/sorta/not really watched the first episode last week but ended up slightly lost due to the kinda/sorta/not watching) and thought it was very good. I'm downloading the first two eps so that I can get all caught up.

Somebody ask me what I ate for dinner! Okay! Bacon and avocado and ice cream. Not all at the same time. In fact, none were at the same time. That's what happens when I work late. Weird dinners.

Veronica Mars is on in a few. Yes, I did already watch the ep, but I'm excited to watch it on the big TV screen.
Toodles.

Sadly, today is the last day of my vacation. Boo. It was also Cole's first day of 2nd grade. I can't quite figure out if he liked it. *shrug* I like his teacher. That's enough, isn't it?

Oops. Cole just bit his tongue. Ouch.

For the record, Best Buy has blank DVDs on sale for $6.99 for 25 discs. That's a damn good deal. I bought 3 packs.

I've also had this urge to watch Dark Angel season 2 after watching a few eps on Sci Fi yesterday. So, I did.

Toodles.

My car is currently getting new brakes (nothing's wrong with them, they were just at the point where getting them replaced was a good idea) and Cole and I have been up since 5:00. AM. Yes. I know. Cole woke me up saying he didn't feel well and could I please go to the bathroom with him. My poor boy ended up throwing up a couple of times. He's feeling better now ... I mean, I assume he is since I've dragged him all over town. Walmart this morning for Chicken Soup and crackers, the car wash to have my car washed, waxed and detailed, dropping off my car at the car shop for the brakes and Best Buy for Silent Hill.

For the record, after you've had the seats in your car steam cleaned, it's a good idea to leave the windows cracked. Otherwise it gets mighty steamy in there. Sadly, I speak from experience.

I did end up finishing off SG-1 season 8 last night. *sniff* Season 9 comes out in October. Now I just have a few more episodes of season 1 of Farscape to watch and I'll have completed the TV watching tasks I set for myself this vacation.

I also *finally* set up the printer that came with my computer. Finally. Now I just have to plug it in and install the software. Word!

I'm off. To do fun things. Exciting things. Things that make you go Hmmmm.

It's so damn hot right now that I think I melted into my chair. Seriously. I'm going to have to go to work tomorrow with my chair stuck to my ass. Lovely.

On the other hand, tomorrow is Friday. Whoo-hoo! Because Friday is Fun-day! Yeah, I'm a dork. I've come to terms with it. Now you must too.

My mom left for Germany veeeerrrrrry early this morning. Whoo-hoo! Go, Mom! Have fun!

I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that both my sister and myself can, indeed, manage not to starve either ourselves or our children. No, we're not the best cooks in this shiny world, but we do manage to get by. Even when mommy's not home. Tonight's meal? I'm glad you asked. Heather made white rice, steamed broccoli, fruit and chicken. It was yum.

So, take that. Take that, [livejournal.com profile] ebarnon. Take that!
*in his defense, I believe he was here for the time I cooked the frozen pizza with the cardboard still attached to it. No, I'm not proud. Not proud at all.*

Oh, and I finished re-watching season 1 (27 ... whatever!) of Doctor Who. It was so good. Plus, I saw many iconable moments. Hee! Screencaps!

I'm sweating into my chair. That is so disgusting.

Don't tell anybody I wrote this, but I accidentally bought a fullscreen copy of Domino while at Best Buy today. Blecch! Fullscreen?!?! You might as well gouge my eyes out now.
I will be returning it tomorrow for a widescreen copy.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I have nothing of interest to say today. nothing.

Oh, except that I went to Best Buy and bought Ultraviolet. You know, even if that movie completely sucks ass, it still has Milla Jovovich in it. She's been a favorite of mine since The Fifth Element. And Resident Evil. And Resident Evil: Apocalypse. She can totally kick the zombie butt. What's not to love about that?

So - Best Buy. Woot!

Randomly, I had to stop by my house on the way to Best Buy (completely out of the way, thank you!) and change shoes because I broke one shoe at work. Suck. It just ... broke. Fffft. And they were my favorite pair. I'm sad. :(

2nd day back from vacation. 2nd longer than normal day. Dude. Not cool.

I'm out.
