I made this delicious ham and havarti sandwich for dinner tonight and it was a perfect blend of flavors. I grilled it without buttering the bread and it turned out toasty and slightly warm. I wasn't sure how it was going to work, but it was delish. Definitely a keeper recipe.

Anyway.

My most darling [livejournal.com profile] oddmonster gave me 5 icons to talk about. So ...
I made her look through all my icons! )

I also read another book today.

Book #28 - Pretties (Uglies Book 2) by Scott Westerfeld - During the first half of the book, I kept thinking that I liked the first book more and then all of a sudden the book exploded on me and I couldn't stop reading it. Tally gave herself up to become a Pretty to test the cure, only now she doesn't remember any of the plan. Figuring it out through the haze of Pretty-headedness isn't easy, but she does it and figures out some things along the way. I'm definitely interested in seeing where the next book goes. At some point I'm going to have to break down and buy it. Woot!

Cole was in a grumpy mood when he came home from school (he lost another football and I told him I wasn't buying him any more) and he announced that he wanted to watch Twilight. So we did. He seemed to enjoy it although I'm sure he'll deny with every breath.

On top of all this, I spent the morning updated all my web pages ...

Homemade Laundry Detergent
Go green with reusable lunchboxes

and creating a new one that links in with the reusable lunchboxes ...
Reusable snack and sandwich bags

I'm going to completely redo the homemade laundry detergent page at some point, but I have no idea what direction I want it to go in. *sigh* Back to brainstorming.

Well, that's enough from me tonight. I need to finish watching this new volcano movie since I have a bunch of movies lined up to record this weekend. Gotta clear out the DVR, you know. Later!

I feel like I'm back on track with my book reading. Add that to the fact that I have almost completely finished designing my laundry detergent label and I feel pretty productive today.

Book #27 - Uglies (Uglies Book 1) by Scott Westerfeld - I've had the first two books in this series sitting here since Christmas and I kept putting off reading them, even though I'd heard how good they are. It's all part of my inscrutable brain. It's better not to look to closely. Anyway. I thought this book was great. I honestly couldn't figure out how they were going to move from this book to the next until the end. Awesome.

I feel much better than yesterday. More centered and not at all crazy for no good reason. This is a good thing.

I have a bunch of little things that need to be done tomorrow. Things that I keep putting off. Like, calling my HR department about my 401K. I guess it's about time.

I have the urge to watch Twilight.
Later!

Everybody sit down for this announcement. Sitting? Good. I made dinner tonight. A real dinner. I made Chicken Marsala with whole wheat fettuccine and a salad. I also baked my world famous banana bread. I tweaked it a bit to give it a little oomph. It was delicious. So delicious that you should be a little sad that you don't have any right now.

I Twittered about it. The banana bread and the dinner. I also twittered about other things. Mostly of the Cole variety. It amused me greatly.

OH! The bags I'm going to ship my detergent out in came today. It's ridiculous how excited I was at a box of empty, plain bags. My next task is to find the right size stickers for my label. I had to wait until I had the bags to make sure everything fits properly.

I have to get my kid to bed. He'll wrangle a few extra minutes out of me if I'm not paying attention. And then he'll have a hard time getting up in the morning. That's never fun.

I'm out.

Vote in my poll!

I'd just like to announce (loudly) that the freaking slowness of the internet is driving me bonkers today. I want to lash out at something. But I don't. Mostly because Twitter's taking too long to load. Boo.

But it did give me time to contemplate things...
I was thinking about all the things I like about working from home.
  • I don't have to wear shoes unless I want to.
  • The new pillows I bought for my bed make me want to sink into them. In the middle of the day. That might be a bad thing.
  • Which color should I dye my hair? Neon red? Blue? Green? So many choices!
  • A movie a day. Whether I like it or not.
  • I've found that I do have a capacity for cooking. Sure I use the same several ingredients in all my things, but I'm doing it! Does anybody remember the frozen pizza incident?
  • As part of above, I'm eating a lot healthier because I have the time to cook. I also get to go on walks with Cole. And play pogo with the boy in the afternoon.
  • I can drink good coffee whenever I want to. And I'm making it making it myself so it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg.
  • More creativity from me! Buckets of it! I love all the ideas I'm coming up with. Writing, selling, creating! Woot!
  • I'm not at work.

So, there you have it. I really never liked wearing shoes. That was a big one. Sometimes I wear slippers when I drop Cole off at school. Best thing ever.

I got a call from my former assistant at the bank. They're being audited. That was my absolute least favorite thing about my (former) job. It happens once a year and it was horrible. HORRIBLE. At least for me because it had so much to do with my (former) job. I'm so glad I'm not there anymore. (see above) :)

Now, I have to get back into reading again. How many weeks have I been off work now? 8? And how many books have I read? None? Ouch. That stings a little.

I'm off. I think I have some shows to watch. Or something.

If you can believe this, I've cleaned my bathroom twice in the last 4 days. Yeah. I never do that. But I have to test out the cleaning products I'm making and it just seems easy to test it out on my bathroom. you know, because it's RIGHT THERE. So, I have a super clean bathroom.

Randomly, H is planning a trip to Disneyworld at the end of June/beginning of July. I've decided to pass on that trip. Partially because I'm not technically working at the moment and hence am not making any money and partially because OMG! HOW FREAKING HOT IS IT GOING TO BE??? I'm thinking of going to Disneyland in December when Cole's on vacation. That sounds so much more refreshing.

I think I might make cinnamon rolls tomorrow. I have the ingredients. I have the time. I can do it.

That's about all there is today.
Cole and I play pogo every day. It makes my hands hurt. But I still do it. Because that's what a mom does. Word.

    I'm out.

I'm watching Deepstar Six as a cap to my Monsters of the Deep marathon and it's really not holding up to the other sea monster movies. In fact, it's kinda bad. Which means that I'll review something *gasp* I might not like. Crazy!

I did some research on my forthcoming work from home venture earlier. I'm getting really jazzed to get this up and running. I just have to wait for my bags. Grr. Sometimes I'm not patient.

I'm going to watch this not great movie now.
    Wish me luck.

Umm, wow. I totally meant to come back yesterday and spam the hell out of everyone. Alas, I did not. I blame BSG. I actually watched the finale yesterday more or less as it was airing which is an INCREDIBLE feat for me. Seriously, my rule of thumb is that I can't have two eps on my DVR. I always have to watch last week's before this week's airs. So, for me to watch it as it (more or less) happens is nearly catastrophic.

For the record (and I'm not going to go into details here), I really, really liked it. No, not everything was answered but it gave us a concrete ending. And I enjoyed it. I'm almost tempted to go back and do a marathon rewatch.

The weather's teasing me with rain right now. It's been splattering off and on this afternoon and now it's kinda hot. Like, that hot before a storm when everything's still and heavy. I have the window open because the air's feeling close.

Day 21 celebrating the 30 in 30 is up at [livejournal.com profile] blabapalooza. So it day 20. But there was that whole thing where I didn't come back to journal after my early morning babble fest and didn't mention it.

Here's good news on the logo front. [livejournal.com profile] jenahville and her son came over for a visit and Jenn and I brainstormed on Photoshop and I think I have my logo. It's not exactly what I had in me head, but I really like it and it does get the point across that I was trying to get at.

There you have it. I did a lot today.

Murky and overcast this morning. Rumor has it that it might rain soon. I love the rain. Especially when I'm home, hunkered down with a hot cup of something and hours to wile away.

Did I mention that my Twilight DVD shipped yesterday. I might (might) get it today. It's okay, you don't have to be jealous that Amazon loves me. If you love it, it turns out that it'll love you back.

I've been updating some of my Squidoo pages.

I've also bought the bags I'm going to use for my detergent. I did decide to go with Three Sisters. It makes more sense if I'm going to use it for things that aren't all "green". For example, I'm thinking of offering spell-casting kits. Three Sisters works slightly better with that. The only downside is that I actually have four sisters. As in, there are five of us all together. That just didn't have the same ring to it. Five Sisters. No. Three is a much more magical number.

    Three Sisters it is.

Thank you to everyone who voted. My next request is going to be for someone with graphics abilities to help me translate the logo design in my head into something that doesn't look like a 3 year old drew it. I could even pay a small fee. Or I could pay in homemade detergent. Because I'm going to use the barter system for everything from now on. Do you think Target will take chickens in lieu of money? I don't have any chickens, but if I did I would totally barter them. Or maybe just their eggs.

Oh! I think that this is one of the coolest eco-friendly things I've seen lately. I want it because it's pretty and neat to look at and good for the environment, but what the hell would I actually do with it?

Wow. I wrote a lot. And it's still early. That leaves a very wide door for me to return.
    Later!
