Once again I find myself being lax about journalling on the weekend. Why? Well, because I was totally busy watching TV.

Things I did (in no particular order):
Finished season 1 of Lost.
Watched through episode 17 of season 6 of The X-Files.
Watched Land of the Dead.
Cleaned my room and other boring stuff.

Now, the good news is that Land of the Dead did not scare the pants off me and cause me to have scary, scary, scary zombie dreams. Which reminds me that I forgot to mention that a couple of days ago I had an utterly terrifying dream about walking through a house and approching a window which I couldn't see through because it was completely dark outside. All of a sudden a hand reaches through the window and grabs my face. I woke up with my heart POUNDING. It was one of those moments where I had to check to make sure that I wasn't really standing in front of a window with a hand attached to my face and/or coming towards me to rip my face off. Sometimes I find my subconcious disturbing.

Now, I have only 5 episodes remaining for season 6 of XF. Can I finish it today? Perhaps. I am, however, completely willing to try. Just to recap ... 6.13 - 6.17 )

I'm not looking forward to work this next week. Or the one after that. Or the one after that. I am taking off Halloween day even though I'm not taking off my two weeks in November. I promised Cole I would come to his Halloween parade at school.
Okay. I'm out.

I still haven't watched Lost. You know, I wish I could type with a southern accent without it looking all stupid and being hard to read. Why? you ask. Well, because I said that first sentence in my head with a southern accent and it was way cooler than saying it normally. True story.

Good news ... I managed to find a widescreen copy of the unrated director's cut of Land of the Dead at Best Buy. Word, [livejournal.com profile] debalita, no full screen for us! Actually [livejournal.com profile] ebarnon found it. And then we stood there for 5 minutes checking and double checking to make absolutely sure that we had WIDESCREEN and not stinky full screen. We did. Yay.

I'd like to take a moment now to wax poetic about season 6 of The X-Files. Yes, I'm slightly obsessive. You know that, though. Ye, Gods! Season 6 is awesomely awesome. There's all this tension between Mulder and Scully and Mulder gets to say THE BEST line ... "I do not *gaze* at Scully." Always funny. Always. And then there's the writing. Triangle - still one of the best episodes I've seen. The writing! The directing! It all came together beautifully. Have I mentioned that my absolute favorite B-movie actor gets a whole episode to do his thing? Yes, Bruce Campbell gets to be a demon! Eeeee. Being a demon is right up there with being a heroic convict who saves the world from an alien invasion (Terminal Invasion) or an astronaut who saves the world from an alien invasion (Alien Apocalypse) or an S-Mart clerk who saves the world from hordes of deadites (Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness). Is anybody else sensing a theme here? Anyway. And then we have the oh-so-awesome Christmas ep. The Ghosts Who Stole Christmas is probably one of the most original Christmas themed episodes of anything I've ever seen. It's not your typical fare. It's just FUN! I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that season 6 is probably my favorite season. Whoo-hoo! And I'm not even up to Arcadia. That's the ep where Mulder and Scully get to play house, for those of you not up with your episode names. I.can't.wait.

Okay. I'm pretty much done for the night. On the computer. I think I have some scary movies to watch. Out.

Nothing exciting happened today. Nothing. Except that I wore a (bright) orange shirt. And I bought Batman Begins. I was actually considering buying Land of the Dead (because zombies are FUN!) but Best Buy only had it in full screen. I don't do full screen. Word.

Onto some X-Files talk - Triangle ... best episode I've yet seen. I laughed. I might have teared up with laughter. I love the sweeping camera shots of Scully pounding down the corridors of the FBI building looking for answers. I loved Scully telling Spender that she would kill him if he didn't help her. I loved the Skinner/Scully kiss. I loved Skinner berating her as they come out of the elevator. I loved the Mulder/Scully kiss. I loved the shot as the two Scullys come around the corner and cross each other in different times. Heh. The pause as they wonder what just happened. The music during the ballroom brawl ... brilliant. The whole episode was just brilliant. Loved it!

Okay. I'm going to watch more eps. Out.

Psst ... As I watch Supernatural I keep thinking that I can see something there. Something cool. They've started getting to that something with the interactions/dynamic of the brothers, but they just haven't reached it yet with the episodes themselves. Last night ... fun to watch. Did it make as much sense as it could have? Probably not. I'm not saying it's a bad show because I really get a kick out of watching it. I am saying that it's very X-Files season 1. The leads have chemistry together, now they have to develop the mythology more. They need to start getting into who or what killed their mother and Sam's girlfriend. They need to find some clues as to what's going on with their father. Also, Jensen Ackles should take his shirt/jacket off more. Seriously.

Out for real.

Thank you for the awesome birthday wishes. I'm older. I'm sick. I stayed home from work today. On the other hand, I finished The X-Files season 5, watched The X-Files movie and have either 5 or 6 episodes left for Lost. I think I accomplished quite a bit on my birthday.

I also think I need to start wrting down some of the things I've been noticing in my re-watch of Lost. Things like - Fathers play very pivotal roles. Jack's father, Locke's father, Sawyer's father, Sun's father ... they all hold big pieces of the flashback puzzle. I'm just saying.

Okay, now I have to start getting back to journalling regularly.
Later.

Last night the power went out from 7:45 to 3 in the morning or so. That means that I did nothing. I went to bed at 9 because there was nothing to do once everyone else went to bed. Geez, my family is so fun and exciting.

However, today I watched an episode of The X-Files, the end of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (which wasn't as bad as I was afraid it would be. I think it has to do with the state of mind one is in.) and went to a birthday party with Cole. For some reason I'm really tired right now. No, wait. I'm not really tired. I'm just kinda tired. Which doesn't make sense to me because I slept longer than I normally do and I didn't really do anything today. Did I say that earlier? Or was I just thinking it. Oh, I also started An American Werewolf in London but only got about 15 minutes into it before I got distracted. I think I'm going to finish that one tonight.

I think I had more to say but I've forgotten it all.
Too bad.

Wtf's up with the "school" thing on my user info page? Oh, nevermind. I'm not all that interested at the moment.

So ... Lost. The Hatch, The Numbers, The Big Boom )

Ahahahahaha! Cole just put a purple rubber glove on. Now, that's entertainment!

Invasion - I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. It seems like a show I should really like, but I felt like it was a little disjointed. I'll give it another chance or two, but ... we'll see.

Supernatural - Jensen Ackles, Teh Hot, Creepy-Crawlies )

Did I really need to cut that? Probably not.
I'm out suckers. I have last Friday's shows to watch. Still.

Home, home, home. I got home yesterday but I was pretty wiped out. Let's see, I came home and slept. Got up and growled at people. I went to bed at 10 after watching part of The Abyss on Sci-Fi. What an exciting life I lead.

Lake Tahoe - Lots of fun. I did get up on stage and sing. I was also pulled up during [livejournal.com profile] malkovich03's solo and forced to sing again. I was filming the entire time with Mal so that must have looked interesting. Somehow, on the way back to my table after singing YMCA I got suckered into being the only person on the dance floor lip-syncing to Grease songs. Fortunately Mal joined me for that as well. Thank goodness she was there or I would have been a blubbering mess.

I tried to tape Threshold on Friday but it didn't. Tape, that is. Is it worth it at all? Should I curse the gods that my tape didn't work?

It took me four hours to do two loads of laundry yesterday because I kept forgetting it was in the wash. Dumb!

I started The X-Files season 5 while Cole was at school. I've now watched through ep 5 (A Post-Modern Prometheus) and absolutely LOVE this season so far. I'm so pleased that Mulder wasn't really dead after the end of season 4. Btw, Mulder's huge-ass cell phone in the Lone Gunmen episode ... Hee-larious! Ring, ring ... oh, let me pull this anchor out of my pocket and answer it! Hee!

My massage in Lake Tahoe is wearing off. My neck hurts.
Out.

I have two more episodes left in season 4 of The X-Files. I always find it funny that by the end of the season I'm trying to rip through the eps just to get them done with. Yet, I'll start the next season asap. I'm a strange creature.

I watched the pilot ep for Stargate: Atlantis again. Now I need to get the rest of season one in my hot little hands so I can write more SGA stories. And have them make sense. Because who wants to read stories that don't make sense? Seriously.

My sister brought the wedding pictures over. The ones that she's going to have to pay for. The ones she had a professional photographer take. To be quite candid, they're not very good. There are a couple of well composed shots but the bulk of them look rather amateur. In short, I think the disposable cameras left on the tables turned out better candid shots than the expensive photographer that my sis had to have. Even the posed bridal party shots are ehhh. Too much space between people. I'm crushed against a wall in another. I'm not impressed.

Ooh! Time for pizza.
Later!

You know how you have all these thoughts that you're just dying to put down but as soon as you sit down you can only remember one or two of them? Yeah. That's me. Right now. Yeah.

So, I guess I'll dive right in and get to the meat of the matter. So to speak. I bought a new cell phone. Yay! It's pretty and I can do all sorts of fun things that I couldn't do with my old phone. Such as take pictures. And download ring tones. Yes, my old phone was a dinosaur. Shut up. The only bad thing is that I lost all my phone numbers that I had stored. Boo. So, I'll be emailing, etc ... no, wait. I'll only be emailing people because I lost all their freaking phone numbers! So, I'll be emailing people to get those numbers put back on. [livejournal.com profile] jenahna, [livejournal.com profile] kimbrchick. You ladies will be hearing from me soon.

After buying my new phone - Cole, Heath, Hailey and I went to Best Buy. I haven't been there in a long time. I'm surprised the place hasn't gone out of business without the mucho dinero I pay out there. Let me think ... I bought Sahara and Dawn of the Dead for myself and the original Batman for Cole. I'm going to watch Sahara after I finish this up so I can't comment on the actual movie yet. I will however say that the cover is incredibly cheesy. Like, Allen Quartermain cheesy. Based on the books (which I've read), it should have been more Indiana Jones but no. It's just silly looking. Maybe it's just me.

And that about sums up my day. Well, except that Hailey and I watched eps 19 and 20 of season 4 of The X-Files. Oh, and Cole and I watched the end of Snakehead Terror (mutant fish in the lake!) and the beginning of Frankenfish (mutant fish in the swamp!). Awesomeness! Oh, and ... umm, no. That was all I did. I'm so lazy.

But hey! There's always tomorrow. You know, with the shopping! For the food! For Cole's lunch! And supplies for his classroom! And, if I'm very lucky, new jeans for myself. But only if I can get motivated.

I'm going to treat myself to a pumpkin spice frappuccino tomorrow. Because I'm craving it right now.

Hee! I will admit that I've had fun making layouts and icons these past two days. My wrist hurts something fierce now, but I had fun.
Just to recap ... I've made 4 new headers for various sites (yes, 3 of the headers belong to one site. What's your point?) and 20+ icons. This last part is particularly amazing since I usually make 0 to 3 icons at any given time. Seriously I sometimes try to make icons and make none, hence the zero.

Onto fangirly stuff ...
Pterodactyl - fun to type, not so fun to watch. *looks off into the distance while having the next thought* Although watching people get snatched and eaten by prehistoric creatures was pretty funny.
The X-Files season 4 - I've watched through episode 17. Outstanding. Absolutely outstanding.
Battlestar Galactica - Eeeeeee! I have to watch it again. I don't feel that I gave it the proper amount of attention the first time. Plus, I haven't really watched SG1 or SGA yet (I was working on the rotating headers during the Stargates and fine tuning it during commercial breaks for BSG). However, Sci-Fi Friday isn't on next week so I can either save them for then or watch them now. It's really up to me. Whee!

Speaking of BSG, I'm going to start playing a little game that I like to call "Spot Tyrol". Since Aaron Douglas has been in a ton of movies that I've seen/adore I'm going to start looking for him in every movie I watch.
Movies Aaron Douglas has been in that I've seen: White Noise, Catwoman, Chronicles of Riddick, I, Robot, Saved!, Paycheck, X2, and the miniseries Taken.
He's played such roles as: "Corporal", "Stryker Soldier #1", "Scientist #3", and "Paramedic".
Look at the background players next time you're watching a movie that I'd watch and see if you can Spot Tyrol!
Hee!

I'm off. Or something.

I sent Cole off to school today. *sniff* He still looks so little to me. And some of those kids look so huge. *sniff* But his teacher looks nice. Nice and pregnant. Which means that he'll probably end up with a full time sub later in the year. *shrug* What can you do?

Some thoughts on season 4 of The X-Files:
I've watched through episode 8, which is the episode where Mulder gets infected with the black oil in that Russian prison but not the ep where Krycek gets his arm cut off (which is next). That's not what I wanted to babble about though ... In Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man the young Cancer Man looks like Jason Dohring. It's uncanny. I was going to put up some pics so everybody could marvel at the weirdness but the XF screencap site I go to doesn't have caps of Musings. Poo. You'll just have to take my word for it.

Keeping up my grand tradition of skipping one episode per season, I decided to not watch ep 6. It's about plastic surgery and I couldn't even make it to the opening credits. Watching that doctor scrub his fingers until they bled was bad. Watching the fat go through the tube during the liposuction just kinda capped it for me and I skipped to the next ep. Apparently I have a weak constitution when it comes to watching surgery type procedures. Yuck.

I also watched Sin City last night. All I can say is that it's amazingly violent (but not in a scary-creepy way) and it's amazingly fun. Robert Rodriguez did an excellent job of translating the idea of a comic book to the screen.

I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do today.
Ta.

Some thoughts on BSG

Home pt 1 )

[livejournal.com profile] jenahna and her son stopped by today. Jenn got to be the first to see my super dark hair. It's nearly black. Well, not really black but it's pretty darn dark. I think I like it. I'll know after tomorrow.

Just to quell a pesky rumor ... I am NOT a Cylon. Don't believe anything you read to the contrary.

I want to add more icons but I haven't run across any that reach out and grab me. With both hands. In a chokehold. Basically, I've stalled out at 60. *crosses fingers that I'll find more that attack and maul me*

Okay. I'm out.

A couple of things have happened since yesterday's post ...

1. I'm on vacation as of 5:00 this evening! Well, I'm on vacation until Wednesday, when I work a baffling 16 hour day and then get to take Thursday off. It'll work out just fine, I'm sure.
2. There was a chemical spill on the freeway right by my house yesterday. Cole's daycare center called to tell me that they weren't being told to evacuate yet but if they did have to I'd have to come and pick him up. Everything worked out just fine, you'll be happy to know. No evacuations required.
3. I finished The X-Files season 3 last night. And then I promptly fell asleep at 9:00. Which is pretty much as soon as the last episode ended.
4. My two weeks of vacation will be the first two weeks of November. That means that I'll have Halloween day off. Halloween's my favorite holiday. I still have another 7 days to schedule somewhere. Let me break it down ... I'm taking off August 22 and 23 (for Cole's first day of school), September 16 (which is not a personal day since the bank is MAKING me go to Lake Tahoe. Again.) and 19 (because I'll need to recoup from Lake Tahoe), October 31 - November 11 (plus the Saturdays and Sundays surrounding those two weeks) and SEVEN more days somewhere. Seven! Not to mention the random bank holidays between now and the end of the year. Oh, and Christmas Day is on Sunday this year. That means that we'll be closed the day after. Yes! Rock on!
5. Sci-Fi Friday Night! Yes!

I'm out!

I made pancakes for Cole this morning. From scratch. Yes, it's true. It's also true that I didn't know you could make pancakes with anything but Bisquick until I saw the movie Matilda. I am sometimes lame and not very smart.

Anyway. My pancakes turned out wonderfully. Of course, Cole only wanted one and I had to make an entire batch so I have a whole bunch of batter hanging out. Psst ... [livejournal.com profile] tinamishi, I could live with you and make the kids pancakes every day. Except for the days that I make scrambled eggs. In case you're confused, this has to do with me quitting my job and moving in with you to mooch off you and your family. All part of The Plan, baby! *g*

I watched a couple of eps of The x-Files last night. The one where Skinner bangs the prostitute who ends up dead in his bed (and who's played by Amanda Tapping) and the one where Mulder is hunting Big Blue (also know as the one where Scully's dog bites it). Both of them were quite excellent. Whoo-hoo!

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] kimbrchick!!!!!

Uggh. Last night I stayed up way late watching Garden State. Good movie. Then I got up at 6:30 so I could be ready to go to Target at 8. I just tried to take a nap and Cole and Hailey wouldn't stop going in and out of the room. Then Cole was trying to unplug my stereo which is plugged in behind my bed and it just didn't work out well. So, my nap is over.

*sigh*

You might be wondering why I started watching Garden State so late. Well, I watched episode 16 of The X-files at 9. It was the cool part 2 of the first of the Black Oil eps. The one where Krycek is all Black Oiled out and at the end he's locked in the missile silo with Black Oil dripping out of his eyes and nose and mouth onto the UFO. Kinda gross, yet cool. After XF I watched the end of Alfie - Don't bother. Then I watched Garden State. I started that around 11 and finished about 12:45. I'm still trying to clear out the last of my borrowed movies. I think I have two movies and 3 or 4 seasons of TV shows. I'm almost caught up.

I have nothing else to say.

Hey! Somebody! I'm bored. Cole's monopolizing my TV and my mom's watching the news. I can only take so much of the news. Then they keep repeating all the stories over and over again and I can't listen anymore. I mean, seriously, I've heard about the "early morning raid on an illegal pot farm in the Santa Cruz mountains" where some of the "guards" for the farm traded gunfire with the Fish and Game officers about 15 times. No more. It's like when you watch those entertainment shows and they just keep giving you the same information about Britney Spears and her twins and her stupid husband and how he can't afford anything because she put him on an allowance. Please. I stopped caring after the 2nd time I heard about it.

I've been watching The X-Files again. Season 3. I think I'm up to episode 14. I was planning on watching more than one ep today, but Cole wanted to watch cartoons. He's the sick one, he gets priority. So I only watched the ep with the two girls with the same birtdhay who were killing people. The one with a young Ryan Reynolds (yum). No, I can't pronounce, much less spell, the title. But you know what I mean.

Stargates and BSG tonight! I can't wait for SG-1. I'm really digging Ben Browder. Does everybody realize that the new doctor (umm, maybe she's not new, but I didn't watch many eps from last season. Although now that I'm thinking about it the new General mentioned something about how she's fitting in, so maybe she really is new) is Lexa Doig, Michael Shanks' real-life wife? They're cute. But not as cute as Vala and Daniel together. You know what I'm saying?

Okay. I'm done.

Things I've done (and am thinking about doing) since yesterday's post ...

1. Watched the end of Close Encounters. Liked it.
2. Watched Dreamcatchers. Liked it.
3. Watched the beginning of Bram Stokers Dracula. It's still cheesy.
4. Went to bed.
5. Woke up at 8. Whoo-hoo! I slept in.
6. Took Cole swimming at my Grandma's. I didn't go swimming myself, but I took him up there.
7. Listened to much iPod music while watching him swim.
8. Came home.
9. Went to the movies. Batman Begins. Very, very good.
10. Came home and ate delicious hamburgers made by Amber. Which means they were actually AMBurgers. Hee!
11. Bought The X-Files season 8 and 9 from Amazon since they were on sale. I also bought The X-Files:Fight the Future and Xena season 6 (because I really wanted to finish up my Xena collection for some unknown reason). The good news is that I had a $25 gift certificate for Amazon, so my total stayed under 200 bones! Yay!
12. I'm thinking about throwing in another couple of movies so I can thin out my loaners.
13. I need to pack a bag for Cole since he's leaving for Lego Land tomorrow. *sniff* I'll miss him.
14. I also wrote up reviews for the movies I've been watching lately. *gasp* I haven't loaded the updates yet, but I actually did some work on my poor, neglected site.

I'm starting to sweat into my chair. Yummy.

Have I ever gone into detail about my love affair with peanut butter? I could eat peanut butter day in and day out. Really. In fact, I walk down the peanut butter aisle in the grocery store and the peanut butter rejoices. For it knows it will fulfill it's purpose.

Now, although I could eat peanut butter for every meal, I don't. Mostly because I fear the high fat content. Still, PB&J ... yummy.
What am I talking about?

I think I may take a short break from The X-Files this weekend to perhaps watch some of my movies that have been patiently waiting for me to get to them. Such as Troy. I've had that one since January and have yet to watch it. Someone has theorized that it's because Orlando Bloom is such a (and I quote) "pussy the way he climbs up the Hulk's leg".

Once again, where am I going with this?

I bought Howie Day's Stop All the World Now at Best Buy today. It has 'Collide' on it. Perhaps listening to it excessively will help get it out of my head. Probably not, but I'll try it anyway.

Time to get Cole to bed.

Weirdness ... yes, really.

1. I finished season 2 of The X-Files last night. Fuuuuuck, what an awesome season. The way they were able to blend the mythology of the show with the general monster-of-the-week storyline was great. "Mulder, these kids have been injected with Purity Control." Purity Control! Well, bring that shit on! I'm still waiting for that moment when Skinner becomes uber-cool. He had a moment of coolness at the beginning of the season when he was all, "Bitches! I'm re-opening the X-Files." Oh, yeah! Still, he's not quite at the level of coolness that screams at me to love him. I mean, he has to answer to the Cancer Man (that black-lunged son of a bitch!) and answering to the Cancer Man never ends well. Just ask Krycek. Yet season 3 is calling to me ... calling ... calling.

2. I was screamed at this morning by some old guy who claimed that I was the reason his account was overdrawn. Yeah, I'm the one who forced you to keep using that debit card. I'm the one who didn't keep track of your balance. I'm the one who allowed your account to stay overdrawn for 20 days. Kiss my ass, sucker! And, no, I won't be releasing that hold after you yell at me. Or reversing those fees. Yep, I'm a bitch.

3. My branch made it's quarterly goal today. With one day to spare in the quarter! Whew! That means that my manager will be in a good mood tomorrow. Whoo-hoo! It also means that my bonus will be bigger. Yes.

4. It's hot and I want ice cream. Yummy.
That is all.

Allergies suck. Seriously. They suck. I speak from personal experience. Specifically, the way my eyes are all itchy to the point where I had to take a nap earlier with a towel over them because they were freaking ANNOYING me! Grr.

*ahem* I've watched through episode 18 of XF s2. That would be the episode Fearful Symmetry. Unless I'm counting wrong and epidsode 18 is some other episode, in which case I've still watched through Fearful Symmetry regardless of what number episode it is. Makes sense? Right. Fearful Symmetry (which has now been said more times in one paragraph than ever before in the history of the written word) is, of course, the episode where the zoo animals are being abducted, impregnated, and re-abducted. I'm really enjoying a lot of these episodes that I didn't necessarily love when I watched them before.

Last night were two mythology episodes ... Colony and End Game. Mythology eps rock my socks. Tonight ... The 4400. Shawn! The healing!

Cole's party is coming along. Oh, did I mention that his birthday party is next weekend. There's going to be a pinata, a bounce house, homemade decorations (which are COOL!), a Star Wars cake (not homemade, except that the decorations will be added by me) and a general Star Wars theme. Yay! Star Wars! I really need to finish making the decorations. Really.
