A couple of things have happened since yesterday's post ...
1. I'm on vacation as of 5:00 this evening! Well, I'm on vacation until Wednesday, when I work a baffling 16 hour day and then get to take Thursday off. It'll work out just fine, I'm sure.
2. There was a chemical spill on the freeway right by my house yesterday. Cole's daycare center called to tell me that they weren't being told to evacuate yet but if they did have to I'd have to come and pick him up. Everything worked out just fine, you'll be happy to know. No evacuations required.
3. I finished The X-Files season 3 last night. And then I promptly fell asleep at 9:00. Which is pretty much as soon as the last episode ended.
4. My two weeks of vacation will be the first two weeks of November. That means that I'll have Halloween day off. Halloween's my favorite holiday. I still have another 7 days to schedule somewhere. Let me break it down ... I'm taking off August 22 and 23 (for Cole's first day of school), September 16 (which is not a personal day since the bank is MAKING me go to Lake Tahoe. Again.) and 19 (because I'll need to recoup from Lake Tahoe), October 31 - November 11 (plus the Saturdays and Sundays surrounding those two weeks) and SEVEN more days somewhere. Seven! Not to mention the random bank holidays between now and the end of the year. Oh, and Christmas Day is on Sunday this year. That means that we'll be closed the day after. Yes! Rock on!
5. Sci-Fi Friday Night! Yes!
I'm out!

Lawless Open To Cameo Roles
Lucy Lawless told SCI FI Wire that she'd welcome future cameo roles in the upcoming Evil Dead movies or in the third Spider-Man movie, which are being produced by her husband, Rob Tapert, and family friend Sam Raimi, but added that nothing's set yet. The former Xena: Warrior Princess star made a brief cameo appearance in the first Spider-Man film as a punk rocker in a scene shot in New York City. "That was fun," Lawless said in an interview. "I threw on a wig and did it. Who knows if I'll get a chance to do it again?"
Spider-Man director Raimi was one of the executive producers of Xena during its six seasons, as was Lawless' husband, Tapert, who is still Raimi's business partner.
Tapert and Raimi are also producing two upcoming Evil Dead movies, based on their original 1970s films. "Well, who wouldn't want to be in an Evil Dead movie?" Lawless said. Even as a zombie, Lawless said she would make an appearance, but she added that she's not pushing her husband or lobbying her friend Raimi for a role.
"It doesn't even occur to me [to] think like that," Lawless said. "It's more like, 'What are we having for dinner, and where are the kids?' Also, people think that it's so easy, that you should be able to lean on your family and friends for jobs or whatever. Or they should be making things for you, and it just doesn't work like that. And to ensure the health of your relationship, you just stay away from that kind of thinking."

Starbuck meets up with the Prez's fleet near Kobol. Apollo's very happy to see her, and he's got a gun in his pocket. Which he quickly takes out and aims at Boomer. The Prez is ready to have Boomer spaced until Boomer claims that she can help them to find the Tomb of Athena. Meanwhile, Zarek plots to get Apollo killed, so that Zarek can be the man behind the Prez. They all go down to Kobol and find a path that should lead them to the Tomb. Elosha helpfully finds a trap and gets herself blown up real good, and then the Centurions start shooting. During the fire-fight, Boomer seems to make a break for it, and Apollo chases after her. It turns out Boomer's just trying to grab a dead soldier's gun so that she can take out the last Centurion. Overachiever. They all have a hearty chuckle over the misunderstanding, wave goodbye to Elosha's corpse, and set out for the Tomb. Back on Galactica, Adama picks out a sucky new CAG, tries to cheer himself up by holding a press conference, and generally mopes around for a while. Eventually he shares his feelings with Dualla. Dualla tells Adama that he's broken his promise to take them all to Earth. In the end, Adama declares that he's putting the band back together. No, wait: fleet. Putting the fleet back together.
