I got my hair done today. I nearly forgot I had an appointment. Oops. No worries, though. I was on time. And now my hair is purty. Yay!

I also took a massive nap today. I couldn't wake up. It was bizarre. I rolled over and looked at the clock and saw that it was after 3 and I just conked back out. Does that mean I'm going to be up all night tonight? So be it!

Apparently there's this huge storm sitting off the coast that should be hitting tonight or tomorrow morning. They're predicting 2-3 inches of rain tomorrow. Possibly up to 6 inches in the Santa Cruz mountains. That's a lot of rain. Good thing I like the rain and don't really plan on doing anything outside. Rain! Love!

I'm working on my list for next week. My list of things that I'd like to get done. I'd like to clean out my car some time next week. Maybe not Monday, though. I'm also planning on going to lunch with [livejournal.com profile] malkovich03 one day. Oh, I need to go to the hardware store and buy a tiny little piece for my TV stand so that I can reattach the freaking door. It's starting to annoy me that it's sitting on the floor.

And that's about it.
I need to figure out what I'm going to review at [livejournal.com profile] blabapalooza. Did I watch any movies today? Could I watch one right now? Oh, the questions I'm forced to answer. Woe! Woe!

Now I'm really done.

OMG! I didn't do ANYTHING today and I'm sooo tired right now. I was trying to think if I even left the house today and... umm ... no? I do remember standing by a window and gazing wistfully out. All dramatic and Gothic heroine-esque. And then I saw a ghost on the moors and ... no, wait. That didn't happen.

I did however watch some movies. And read some books. Yeah, yeah. I go back to work on Monday. This insane book-reading, movie-watching schedule will stop.

Anyway. I watched ... Death Race (OMG! SO GOOD! "Do what you do best. Drive." Best line ever!), the end of Dante's Peak (What? I was trying to take a nap.), Armageddon (a classic tale of oil drillers in space), The Golden Compass (I've been watching Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig movies a lot this week), and I'm watching Tomb Raider right this moment (Daniel Craig's in that one also). I have a sneaking suspicion that I missed a movie somewhere in there, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it was. You know, they all start to blur together after the fourth or fifth. :)

As mentioned above, I also read.
Book #17 - The Diamond of Darkhold (4th book of Ember) by Jeanne Duprau - I kinda skipped the 3rd book. I mean, I started it, but it takes place before the big disaster that sends the inhabitants of Ember into, um, Ember and I really wanted to know what happened after they came out. So I started book 3 and then skipped ahead to book 4. I'll get back to it. Someday. Anyway. Enduring their first winter above ground, the former inhabitants of Ember find their food running out and illness threatening them all. After finding a book addressed to the "People of Ember", Lina and Doon head back to the city to find a great gift that was left for them by the Builders. I really liked this book, but I could have done without the pages and pages of wrap-up at the end. Yes, I like my story lines neatly tied up, but this was almost too much. Still, it was a good series and I do plan on reading the 3rd. :)

-and-

Book #18 - Appointment with Death by Agatha Christie - I'm not sure about this one. The book was good, but I wasn't terribly keen on the characters. I think I'm going to have nightmares about a fat, bloated spider of a woman hovering over me tonight. I guess that's good writing, isn't it? Once again, I wasn't thrilled with the wrap-up at the end. It was too convenient. All the people on that particular journey end up marrying one another? Interesting. Although I guess two of them were married before the journey began. Hmmph. I, of course, didn't guess the killer. Do I ever?

Honestly, I did nothing today. I lounged around in bed with my a book at my fingertips and the TV on. Best day ever? Or am I the most boring person in the world? Hmmm. I'm going to go with the 2nd best day ever. The first is always going to be the first day of a vacation in Disneyland. When you're all excited and you haven't been jaded by the long lines and expensive food yet. Awesome.

I'm rambling.
Byyyyeeee!

Good golly! It's Friday, isn't it? Cole decided that he wanted to spend the night at his dad's so I'm sitting around reading and watching movies. What? I occasionally do those types of things.

Book #16 - Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie - I liked this one. There was this sort of slow, languorous buildup to the murder that was great fun to read. You met the characters in fits and starts and suddenly there's all this death. One thing I really admire about Agatha Christie's writing is that all her books have a different feel to them. She's not so caught up in writing in a certain pattern that she starts churning out cookie-cutter books. Does that make sense? *shrug* I like them. That's what matters.

I also watched a fair share of movies today. Are you ready for this? The Mummy (Awesome!), The Mummy Returns (not as good as the first, but still fun), E.T. (I haven't seen this one in ages!) and City of Ember (Still liking it!). I also have My Name is Bruce (Bruce Campbell! Boo-yah!) and Death Race (What?) on tap for later tonight. I know. I'm a bundle of super fun on a Friday night.

It's always a little weird when Cole's not here in the evening. I don't know what to do with myself.

I guess I'll go entertain myself. With movies! And books!
Later.

One of the things I've been planning to get done this "vacation" (or whatever you want to call it) is getting the oil changed on my car and getting the smog certificate so that I can pay my registration. Well, I finally got that done. [livejournal.com profile] iron_knife was kind enough to go with me to drop off my car so that I wouldn't be stranded there waiting. Yay! We wandered down to Gilroy to go to the Barnes & Noble and Best Buy (what? Sometimes they have different things at different locations.) and ate at Sonic. I've never eaten at Sonic. It was very exciting with the ordering and all that. The food was good, but not outstanding. I totally got tater tots with my burger. That was cool.

Anyway. After picking up my car from the service station and Cole from school, I came home and took the longest nap. It was one of those naps that you can't wake up from. I kept trying. It just wasn't happening. So two and a half hours later I finally dragged myself out of bed and forced myself to get moving. I really hope this isn't the medication I'm on. I don't think I can afford to take those sort of naps on a workday. Or maybe I can.

While Cole was playing on the Wii with his dad earlier I decided to watch The Invasion. The one with Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig. It wasn't terrible. It wasn't really good either, but I didn't hate it so much that I turned it off. I think Nicole Kidman is so pretty. But Daniel Craig's hair in this one? Terrible. It was like they forgot to hire a stylist for him and let him comb it himself. Bad. Very bad.

Now I'm watching Jumper. That movie is always on one of the movie channels we get. Seriously, I've seen it 10 or so times. It's great background noise.

I think I'm done now. Later.

I am (hopefully) back for good now. My internet connection died last Sunday and I have been internet free for far too long. I have no idea what's going on in the world. It's sad.

However! I do have some things I need to get up here ...

Book #109 - Nemesis by Agatha Christie - I read this so long ago that I can only say that I liked it. Unfortunately, a comment left by another user on Goodreads kinda clued me in to who the killer was, but the story was good enough that I guess I can overlook that. Blech. Book spoilers.

-and-

Book #110 - Sleeping Murder by Agatha Christie - This is [livejournal.com profile] malkovich03's favorite Christie book. I have to say that it was immensely satisfying. I seem to like those mysteries that look back over several years. They make me smile.

So there you go. I read all the Miss Marple books I have in my possession before my vacation was over. Nice. Now I'm back to the Poirot books. I'm also back to work which is not so nice. It's amazing how quickly 3 weeks fly by. And being back at work? Yeah. It feels like I never left. How sad is that?

[livejournal.com profile] malkovich03 is in Argentina on her honeymoon and I miss her terribly. I can't just pick up the phone and give her a call about nothing. Sad. It's especially sad since I actually have things to talk to her about. Things like books. And her wedding. And stuff. You know?

Okay. I have tomorrow off (because I have to work on Saturday!) and I plan on doing nothing. I'm going to watch TV. And read. And make some cookies. Awe.some.

Later, skaters!

*sigh* We're still not in our house. We didn't get that eagerly awaited phone call telling us to come on down and pick up our keys. I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but I really, really wanted to move today. To kill the time while waiting, I read a book.

Book #105 - 4:50 From Paddington by Agatha Christie - I've dedicated myself to working my way through the rest of the Miss Marple books by the end of this vacation. I have five more to go. I can totally do it. I had a good time with this one. Of course anything that will take my mind off this incessant waiting is a good thing. *sigh* Once again, I didn't have a clue who the killer was. I'm terrible at that, aren't I?

I have nothing else to talk about. Because I did nothing today. I watched the newest episode of True Blood. I read. I watched cartoons (not Scooby-Doo this time). I packed my car up a little tighter. I took a nap. And that's it. Entertain me, people. Entertain me. I need something to take my mind off this nothingness.

I might be back later. Because this tale of woe needs to be retread. Again and again and again. :)

Book #102 - A Murder is Announced by Agatha Christie - Once again, I totally didn't know who did it. Except that I kept getting caught up in what I believed to be a little typo in the story that turned out to be a pretty big clue. There's a first time for everything, I guess. Two thumbs up. Once again, I loaned out my other thumbs (all severed, mind you) and can't give it any more.

Cole had a wicked bad stomach ache today and I let him stay home and I'm beginning to believe that his stomach wasn't hurting quite as much as he let on because he seems to be just fine now. Booger. In his defense, he did take Pepto twice so maybe it was as bad as he was claiming.

Anyway. I took two naps today. But it was because I totally couldn't sleep last night. I had all sorts of things running through my head and just as I'd start to slip off something would push on the edges of my subconscious and jerk me back awake. It's always fun to think that things are coming to get you in the middle of the night. Not really. I'm juts saying that.

You know, I read 102 books for all of last year. I'm totally rocking my book-reading this year. Next year, I don't think I'm going to be quite so ambitious. Or maybe I will.

I'm done now. I just might be back.

Book #99 - Murder on the Links by Agatha Christie - The hardest part about reading this set of Christie books is that I only have them on the computer. It's difficult to sit at the computer for a couple of hours while reading. About this book? Yeah, I didn't see the murderer coming. Not one bit. That Hercule Poirot is brilliant. He always figures out what's going on.

Still no word on when my mom and I will be signing our paperwork. Dammit. I'm still convinced in the darkest part of my heart that we will be in that house by the end of next week. Only time will tell at this point. *sigh*

Oh, and I didn't pack up my bookcase today. Sometimes I like to be a hardcore rebel. You know what I'm sayin'?

This vacation (day 2 of it, thankyouverymuch) is making me think about what I can do so that Cole and I eat healthier. I already try to eat as little processed food as possible, but I think I can do a lot better. I've been researching online and looking at healthy-eating cookbooks. I really do think it's doable. It's just something I have to apply myself to.

I really want to go to Borders tomorrow just so I can get an extremely tasty coffee from their cafe. They use Seattle's Best coffee and it's the most delicious coffee in the history of forever. Rock on.

I'm done now.

Book #98 - The Seeress of Kell: Book Five of the Mallorean by David Eddings - This has got to be one of the most satisfactory endings to a series that I have ever read. Love it. LOVE! Anyway. All the elements of the prophecies are met and the final battle between good and evil comes down to a choice made by a blind Seeress. This is one of those books that ties up everything. Every.Thing. Awesome.

That's the good news for the day. The bad news is that we will not be signing our paperwork tomorrow. Apparently, one of the loans needs additional paperwork that wasn't sent. I'm hoping that we'll be signing either Friday or Monday. *sigh*

However, I did get a lot of stuff done today. I did two loads of laundry. I ran the dishwasher. I made hard boiled eggs. I went to dinner with my mom. I cleaned up a bunch of weird sized boxes on the side of the house.

I think I'm going to break down and box up the rest of my big bookcase tomorrow. Maybe I'll pull a book or two out before I commit to that.

I'm going to watch Bones now.

You know, at the end of last week pushing back my vacation another few days seemed like a good idea. Today? Not so much. Especially after it took me over an hour to get to work this morning. Gah. I know I'm going to work tomorrow. Wednesday? Maybe not. I guess it really depends on how tomorrow goes.

Cole and I are watching Chuck. Good times, people. Good times.

I'm very tired and am going to curl up with Cole.

Book #95 - Demon Lord of Karanda: Book Three of the Mallorean by David Eddings - The heroes battle their way through uncertain lands, dodging demons and magic wielders, on their way to the Place Which is No More and the climactic showdown between good and evil. Also, people get chopped up when they get in the way. Hey! That's what happens when everyone carries a sword.

I changed my mind on when I'm starting my vacation. Again. I was going to work through this week and start on Monday. Now I'm going to work through this week and either as much of next week as I can before my paperwork gets signed for the house OR until the following Monday (the 6th). See? I totally have a plan.

I have to admit that at the beginning of this week I couldn't even imagine pushing out my vacation another week. Yet, here I am. Doing it. Crazy stuff. The upside of doing it this way is that I'll be on vacation over [livejournal.com profile] malkovich03's wedding. Cool.

Okay. I'm off to watch Supernatural. Those boys are very pretty. :)

Bones was very good tonight. Hey! ) Good times. Good times.

Today was a much better day than yesterday. I decided to work the rest of this week and start my vacation as of Monday. Awe.Some. Anyway. My manager and I got into a little "discussion" about scheduling. Basically, I was told that I don't know how to schedule my tellers. So, I gave him the tellers' availability and the forecast for Friday the 3rd and told him to try to find a way to stretch 9 tellers to cover 10 shifts. He couldn't do it. I feel somewhat vindicated now. Somehow it was still my fault that our recruiting department hadn't hired any new tellers for me in the month that I've been asking for one, but whatever.

FYI, I'm an awesome scheduler. My manager just doesn't see it.

You know. I think it's time for bed.

I'm home! I had a great time.

Par-tay talk! )

So, I'm home. The house is is even more packed up than when I left. I figure that I'll be signing my paperwork this week and in the house either by the end of the week or the beginning of next week. PLEASE! I think that I'm going to start my super long vacation (THREE WEEKS!) on Thursday whether I've signed at that point or not. I so need to have an extended amount of time away from work that it hurts. On the other hand I might just wait to start it on Monday the 29th. I just don't know yet.

My bags are packed. I got everything I needed to get done ... well, done. Now I'm just waiting for the ladies to meet me at my house so we can head on out. OH! My final walk-through was AWESOME. I love that house more every time I see it. I'm ready to move in now. Please. Pretty please? I feel so sorry for my carpoolees. They're going to have to listen to house talk endlessly on this drive. Ha.

Okay. Think of me enjoying myself at Universal Studios tomorrow. I'm going to try not to get sunburned. I'm also going to try not to get falling down drunk. No promises, though.

Book #93 - Guardians of the West: Book One of the Mallorean by David Eddings - A remarkably fun book, this one picks up where the Belgariad series leaves off. The heroes are settling into normal lives when the prophecies reveal that they have one great task left to them. Off they go. Adventuring. Making war. Kicking some magical booty. It kinda rocks.

My throat still hurts. I'm going to have to buy a couple of bags of cough drops for my trip this weekend. Speaking of which, I packed all my overnight bags and have to take a real suitcase. Blech. I always hate lugging a suitcase around. It just bugs me.

I'm going to go read until SPN starts.

I signed the next batch of paperwork for the house. I'm told that this will speed up the actual mortgage signing. I'm kinda at the point where I don't really care. I just want to be in my pretty new house.

I have one more day of work this week. One day. I can do it. Friday's going to be crazy for me, though. I'll need to drop the kids off at school in the morning, head over to Target afterward to buy some snacks for the drive to LA, pick up a gift for Mal, meet my mom at the house at noon for our final walk-through, meet my two carpoolees around 1:30 or 2 and head out for our lovely drive to LA. *whoa* That's a lot of stuff.

I'm going to try to finish my book now. I only have a hundred pages or so. :)

I have a ridiculous amount of comments to catch up on. I'm not even sure some of my responses will be relevant at this point. Disco is still the wave of the future, right? I mean, I'm not so hopelessly out of date that my neon leg warmers are ready to make a comeback. Or am I?

Yeah, I've been wrapped up in my own little world lately. It consists of taking my son to school, reading an insane amount of words, and worrying about when I'm going to get to move into my house. That said, I took Cole to school this morning, started a new book while I had my hair done, signed some paperwork for my house (not the big stuff, just some minor paperwork), went to lunch with my mom (wherein we talked about the new house and how much longer it would take to get into it), picked Cole up from school, stopped at Target to buy some school supplies (of which they were out of quite a bit) and came home. I decided to try to chain my events together today since I had things to do in MH and didn't feel like driving back and forth.

Now I'm back to work tomorrow after my two lovely days off. Boo.

I did finish a book, though.
Book #86 - The Chronicles of Pern: First Fall by Anne McCaffrey - A bunch of short stories. They were good.

I also had to ferry my mom to Best Buy to buy a new computer. Her old one (it was only a year and a half old!) just died. The tech said it was the motherboard and it would cost more to fix it than the computer was worth. Okay. We bought a pretty new Dell that's amazingly fast and very quiet. Such a change over the old one.

Alright. I'm done.

Oh, look. I read some books...

Book #68 - Grand Passion by Jayne Ann Krentz - This book is total summer reading. It's light. It's a re-read. I remembered how the mystery played out but it's well-written enough that I read it through anyway. So, there you go.

-and-

Book #69 - Hidden Talent by Jayne Ann Krentz - This is another summer read. As it turned out, I didn't remember the specifics of this mystery. In fact, I didn't remember much at all outside of the main characters. Still, it was enjoyable.

FYI, I finished the first one last night. It's not like I sat around all day and did nothing but read. I did some other stuff. I think. I'm pretty sure I took a nap. I totally watched some Doctor Who. In fact, I'm still watching it. Word!

What? I'm completely committed to enjoying my last day of vacation. I'm putting my all into it.

I very possibly will be back later.

I can't believe that I only have one more day of vacation! Why does it go by so quickly????

*sigh*

So, if anyone's wondering, I totally cleaned out the china cabinet with my mom this afternoon. I kept saying things like, "Mom, what is this?" and "Mom, do we really need 5 glasses for highballs?" and "Mom, what is a highball?" Thankfully, my mom decided to get rid of some of the stuff. On the plus side, we've already packed up all the china and shot glasses (don't ask how many of those I found!) so we won't have to re-pack them again before moving. We also got rid of 2 decorative plates that broke in the '89 earthquake. Yes, the earthquake that was in 1989. On my birthday. Yes, we actually had broken plates from 1989 because my mom's a sap (in a good way) and didn't want to get rid of them.

In other news, I'm totally excited by how many things it looks like I'm going to sell this auction. Rock it! I guess people still like the BtVS stuff. Word.

I need to finish my book.

Later!
