Vote in my poll!

I'd just like to announce (loudly) that the freaking slowness of the internet is driving me bonkers today. I want to lash out at something. But I don't. Mostly because Twitter's taking too long to load. Boo.

But it did give me time to contemplate things...
I was thinking about all the things I like about working from home.
  • I don't have to wear shoes unless I want to.
  • The new pillows I bought for my bed make me want to sink into them. In the middle of the day. That might be a bad thing.
  • Which color should I dye my hair? Neon red? Blue? Green? So many choices!
  • A movie a day. Whether I like it or not.
  • I've found that I do have a capacity for cooking. Sure I use the same several ingredients in all my things, but I'm doing it! Does anybody remember the frozen pizza incident?
  • As part of above, I'm eating a lot healthier because I have the time to cook. I also get to go on walks with Cole. And play pogo with the boy in the afternoon.
  • I can drink good coffee whenever I want to. And I'm making it making it myself so it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg.
  • More creativity from me! Buckets of it! I love all the ideas I'm coming up with. Writing, selling, creating! Woot!
  • I'm not at work.

So, there you have it. I really never liked wearing shoes. That was a big one. Sometimes I wear slippers when I drop Cole off at school. Best thing ever.

I got a call from my former assistant at the bank. They're being audited. That was my absolute least favorite thing about my (former) job. It happens once a year and it was horrible. HORRIBLE. At least for me because it had so much to do with my (former) job. I'm so glad I'm not there anymore. (see above) :)

Now, I have to get back into reading again. How many weeks have I been off work now? 8? And how many books have I read? None? Ouch. That stings a little.

I'm off. I think I have some shows to watch. Or something.
    Later!

I had one of those weirdly fun days. First off, with Cole spending the night at his dad's I was able to sleep in a bit. You know, until 6:30 or so. Yeah. I'm an early riser. Always have been. I probably always will be. Still, 6:30 is much better than what time I usually get up at. After twittering for a bit, I showered and then my mom suggested walking over to Peet's Coffee for some morning caffeine. I agreed. We (my mom, sister and I) wandered on over and I had the best frappuccino-type thing EVER! It was a chocolate caramel swirl and it was the most delicious thing in the history of forever! Envy me!

My day could have ended there and I would have been happy. But no! I got to come home and watch a movie that I hadn't watched in ages and I had so much fun. That will be reviewed tomorrow. Which, naturally, reminds me that Day 14 of the 30 in 30 is up at [livejournal.com profile] blabapalooza. YAY!

Now, I need everybody to make sure they're sitting down for this next thing I'm going to tell you. Sitting? Good. I made myself dinner. A real dinner. Not a pre-packaged frozen meal. Not leftovers that I've warmed up. A real meal. I was going to make a fake chicken cordon bleu type thing but then I realized that I used up both the ham and swiss cheese for my sandwich yesterday. That would have made making that meal slightly difficult. So I went with chicken parmesan. Delicious.

And for those of you who are remembering the time I made a frozen pizza with the cardboard still attached to the bottom ... pfft. I can be taught. Sometimes.

I have a bunch of things planned for next week. I guess the biggest one is calling HR and making sure that they understand that I've quit the bank. No, I haven't actually taken care of that yet. My bad.

    I'm out! Later, babies!

OMG! I had an 8:00 meeting this morning. That's fine. I can do that. Except that one of my tellers was out of balance this evening and I didn't end up leaving work until 7:50. Holy crap! I hate 12 hour days.

I had things to say today. Things about our weird weather (fog, fog and bits of patchy fog) and how much I wanted a frothy iced coffee this afternoon. However, it has all been negated by my 12 hour work day. Suck. I loathe when that happens.

I'm getting my hair done tomorrow. I think I'll treat myself to a coffee to make up for that horrible 12 hour day.
    Later!

Because I'm all about the overachieving ...
Book #121 - On What Grounds by Cleo Coyle - The first in the Coffeehouse Mystery series, this was a quick read. Umm, there was also an inordinate amount of coffee-appreciation. Like, the main character was waxing poetic for days on end about the wonders of different blends and different brewing styles. I'm all about coffee (and tea, for that matter) and I did enjoy the drool-worthiness of the coffee-talk, but it started to get a little ... much after a while. You know what I mean? That said, I'm still interested in reading the others in the series. I think that says something.

So. Today was interesting. I found out that my manager is permanently gone. I guess it's good to know because that means they can start looking at a replacement manager. Sure, I can do the job temporarily, but by no means do I either enjoy it or want it on a permanent basis.

Cole wants me to watch TV with him. I must comply.

Book #99 - Murder on the Links by Agatha Christie - The hardest part about reading this set of Christie books is that I only have them on the computer. It's difficult to sit at the computer for a couple of hours while reading. About this book? Yeah, I didn't see the murderer coming. Not one bit. That Hercule Poirot is brilliant. He always figures out what's going on.

Still no word on when my mom and I will be signing our paperwork. Dammit. I'm still convinced in the darkest part of my heart that we will be in that house by the end of next week. Only time will tell at this point. *sigh*

Oh, and I didn't pack up my bookcase today. Sometimes I like to be a hardcore rebel. You know what I'm sayin'?

This vacation (day 2 of it, thankyouverymuch) is making me think about what I can do so that Cole and I eat healthier. I already try to eat as little processed food as possible, but I think I can do a lot better. I've been researching online and looking at healthy-eating cookbooks. I really do think it's doable. It's just something I have to apply myself to.

I really want to go to Borders tomorrow just so I can get an extremely tasty coffee from their cafe. They use Seattle's Best coffee and it's the most delicious coffee in the history of forever. Rock on.

    I'm done now.
    :)

Book #89 - The Coelura by Anne McCaffrey - I had to take a break from my heavy plague-laden book I'm in the middle of to read something light and frothy. This is exactly that. Both light and frothy. Like a good coffee drink you get from Starbucks. Yeah, you know what I mean. This book is kinda light on plot. That's probably what makes it frothy. Hmm. Still, it was a good way to take a break from the plague and kill a few hours.

In completely unrelated news, my mom and I took the rest of the stuff that we didn't sell at our garage sale up to Goodwill. Yes, it's taken a while to get that done. Now, we have room in the garage to put some of the empty bookcases. I'd have to say that the house packing is coming along swimmingly.

I also need to mention that there's this show on Cartoon Network that I used to loathe. It's called Total Drama Island and it's a cartoon takeoff of reality shows such as Survivor. Somehow I've grown to like the show. It pokes fun at reality shows in a most hilarious manner. Plus, it's called TOTAL DRAMA ISLAND and the theme song keeps saying "I want to be famous".

    Okay. I'm done.

ETA: Book #90 - Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern by Anne McCaffrey - I'll admit that I got a little teary with this one. Not full on sobbing or anything, but my eyes might have welled up a bit. So, plague. Fun stuff. Nothing's better on a Saturday night than plague. Except maybe zombies. Zombies with the plague? I've written "plague" too many times now and what I'm saying no longer makes sense. Good book. Heavier than the others in the series, but well written and gripping. :)

I'm not certain about this but I may need a slight break from the Pern books. It's not that I'm not enjoying them (because I definitely am!) but I need more in my head than dragons at the moment. We'll see. I have 5 more books that I own in the series, one of which I've never read. What to do?!?! There are also several others that have come out since I took a hiatus from the series. Gah! Maybe I'll read one or two more. I'm sure I'm going to be horribly busy soon and won't get any time to read at all. [livejournal.com profile] oddmonster, quit cheering!

OMG! I went to bed at 8:30 last night. How sad is that? Super sad. However, I had a really good day today which I can attribute (at least in part) to the many hours of sleep I got. Sleep! Boo-yah!

Did I mention that I've decided to seriously cut back on my coffee consumption? Yeah. Thus far, I've had one frappuccino this week. I am completely rocking this. At least until tomorrow. Or maybe I'll be good and won't have one tomorrow. Word.

Hailey and I had a discussion today about whether there were tigers in any of the Indiana Jones movies. For the record, there aren't.

I think I'm going to start getting Cole settled in for bed. later!

I had a shockingly good day at work. Shockingly good. No major problems. No major yelling by my manager. I think I might faint.

I did have a strange Starbucks day, however. I ended up going there 3 times today. THREE. Weird. And tasty.

I'm working on my next book and it's a zombie book and it's not half as scary as the last zombie book I read. However, I reserve the right to change that statement depending on whether I dream of zombies trying to gnaw off my arms tonight. What? I dream stuff like that often.

I was up so early this morning that I was able to watch Supernatural before leaving for work. I must say that I wasn't shocked by anything that happened. The hints that kept popping up seemed to be pushing toward the resolution they gave us. I will also say that I enjoyed the episode. Yes, I did.

I think I'm done for now.
    Toodles.

I've watched almost all of my shows from this week. I have Supernatural and The Office left. I'm almost impressed with myself. Almost. I thought Lost was very good and I'm sorry that [livejournal.com profile] iron_knife is going to have to stop watching soon (To quote the most quotable movie in the history of forever ... "Eric may be right."). BSG was ... sweaty. Lots of sweaty, manly arms for me to look at. What happened in the episode anyway? Just kidding. I totally watched it, like, 10 minutes ago. It rocked. With the sweaty arms. And the ... sweaty arms.

In kinda weird work news, my manager totally bailed today at 12:30-ish. I totally wasn't expecting that. It made for a nice afternoon. It's funny how when my manager isn't there I manage to get 3 times the amount of stuff done as when he is there. Go figure.

    My foot hurts.

I think I have all the episodes from the current season of Doctor Who on tap. I'm very tempted to get caught up with that. You know, that show just hasn't been the same for me since Rose left. As you can probably tell by the mood theme and icons. That Rose Tyler. She's a hoot. Even though she can look kinda weird sometimes. Still, I've been hearing good things about this season, so the thought is percolating in my head to watch it. Tonight it's really percolating. It's like, "I'm making coffee, here! Watch me! I'll caffeinate your brain!" How can I deny that? Coffee-brain!

I'm still convinced that I can finish book #38 this weekend. I think that if I want to accomplish this I'm going to have to do some reading. It's a thought.

    I'm done now.
    Simple, right?

I'm three episodes behind on BSG. Yes. Three. I haven't watched anything since they started back up. I'm almost afraid to admit that to [livejournal.com profile] jenahville. She's going to want to talk fandom and I'm going to be all "Ohh. Yeah. About that. I haven't really watched them yet. Sorry." *hangs head* I'm a bad fandom chica.

Cole and I are killing time before heading up to Jenn's with Star Wars. The original. Good times, people. Good times.

Do you ever wonder what the "water" is when Luke, Han, Leia and Chewie are trapped in the garbage smasher? Yuck. And Luke probably got some of that in his mouth when he was pulled under. Double yuck.

I guess Storm Troopers don't think droids can be duplicitous. Stupid Storm Troopers.

    Okay. Enough SW talk.

I really want some coffee, but I'm holding off until I get to Jenn's house because she makes a mean cup. Delicious!

I'm deep into my next book and I really, really love the series I'm reading. YES! It completely helps that the author is one of my favorites. And that I re-read the entire series at the end of last year. Yay! Okay, enough about my books.

I was really hoping that I'd get out of work early to on time today. Alas, Mondays suck and it wasn't to be. Sadly, I rarely get out of work on time and I was looking forward to it with a burning passion. Burning. They have creams for that, you know.

I drank 2 Frappuccinos today. TWO. Man, I got a lot of stuff done today.

On a completely unrelated note, my sister's asshole ex is back on drugs, living out of his car and ignoring his kids. Nice. I kinda have this urge to thwap him upside the head. THWAP!

I'm going to watch Bones now. I'm quite excited for a new episode after such a long wait. Woot!
    I'm off.
soulswallo: (SCC-Sarah-Being a mom is tough but don't)

I don't feel terribly exciting tonight. Probably because I've done nothing today besides work. Blech. I didn't even do anything fun at work. Double blech. Speaking of work, is it bad when you go to the Starbucks by your work and they greet you by name? Now, I do see the manager daily because she brings in the deposit, but that's beside the point.

Have I mentioned that Hailey is driving me crazy at the moment? CRAZY. Like a fox. Cole's just trying to watch his cartoon and she's picking on him. Grrrr.

I have a few more movie reviews I want to add to [livejournal.com profile] blabapalooza. I always have fun writing them, even though it seems to take me forever to get them from my head to the screen. Such is the life.

Daylight Savings tomorrow. I hate this one. It makes us lose an hour and the weekend already seems so damn short. Especially when I work on Saturday.

Dudes. I missed my nap today because I was having my hair done and I'm so freaking tired right now. Maybe I'll make a nice pot of coffee. That sounds good. Anyway.

Book #27 - Witch Hunt by Shirley Damsgaard - The 4th in the Ophelia and Abby series finds Ophelia trying to find a murderer and save an innocent woman. These are definitely fun to read, but I seem to be skipping through them alarmingly fast. I started this one yesterday evening. :/

I talked Hailey into watching The Wizard of Oz for our evening movie (Cole's spending the night at his dad's) because I didn't think I could watch Aladdin for the 3rd time this week.

There were certain things I was planning on getting done on my vacation. Let's see ...

    1. Buy my new bookcase - Check - And I organized that thing to within an inch of it's life!
    2. Read - Check (book #25)
    3. watch movies - Check - White Noise 2, Sunshine (OMG! So good!)
    4. Read - Check - Book #26 - Dark Celebration by Christine Feehan - The 17th in the Carpathians series is a reunion novel that brings all the characters from her previous books and throws them together for a Christmas celebration. It was definitely fun to revisit all the characters but the story itself was pretty light since they had so many different people to touch on. Still, I'm looking forward to reading Skyler and Dimitri's story which I imagine will be coming soon. :)
    5. Have my hair done - That's scheduled for Friday.
    6. Read - I'm already working on the next book.
    7. Drink coffee - Check, check, check.

See, I totally put that list down like a rabid DOG!

Anyway. Sunshine. Wow. That movie's pretty damn awesome. I was deeply impressed by it even though there were random moments where I had no idea what as going on.

Tomorrow Cole and I are having lunch with [livejournal.com profile] malkovich03. I just have to get directions form her. Again. I'm so directionally stupid. I mean, I know the basic direction I'm supposed to go in this case but I can't remember which streets I need to turn down. *face palm* I've been to her work like 3 times. You'd think I'd remember.

    Okay. I'm done.

Our damn fish is still alive. How? Why? It lives it's life upside down!! That can't be comfortable.

I really like Ghost Hunters International. Cole does also. I like that they try their hardest to debunk some of these ghostly sightings and half the time they can't. They're just all "Yeah. We believe you're house/bar/hotel/creepy farm is haunted." Dude. That's so cool.

I'm trying to cut back on coffee. I did an awesome job of giving up soda last year but I found that I've doubled my normal coffee intake. Damn. So, now I'm going to go back to limiting how often I can get a tasty Starbucks. Damn. Since my coffee drinking revelation happened I've found that I've been drinking gallons of tea. Gallons. It's a good thing I love tea or this could be a problem. It does pose another question ... Will I find myself trying to cut back on tea soon? I hope not.

I've almost finished my next book. :) I way outdid myself this month. I was only aiming for 10.

    I'm done now.

ETA- Book #18 - 4th of July by James Patterson - These are still incredibly fast reads. I liked this one. It introduced a new character that looks to be sticking around and there was a lot of murder. Word!

Only TWO more days until vacation! And today didn't make my head explode so that makes it even better. Yay!

Speaking of work, I've been informed that the Best Friend Handbook says that you can't go to Starbucks EVER without first asking your work best friend if he wants something. I have a couple of things to say about this.
    1. I had no idea there was a Best Friend Handbook (sometimes referred to as the BFF Handbook).
    2. [livejournal.com profile] malkovich03! Megan! You two have totally fallen down on your duties as my best friends. Handbook! And I thought it was just a set of guidelines.
    3. In my defense of the Starbucks incident, I didn't actually go myself. I asked someone who was already going to pick me up something. Surely the Handbook doesn't count that as an infraction. Do you think I'll get written up for this by the BFF police? Will I have to take a note home that must be signed by my parent? Woe!
    4. Umm, wait. I only had three things.

And since I mentioned [livejournal.com profile] malkovich03, MY BEST FRIEND GOT ENGAGED! And she started crying when she was telling me about it. *awww* Congratulations, Mal! Now I don't have to keep asking you if you'll invite me to the elopement if you and Kurt ever elope. You know, because you're all official and everything. Whee!

And since I mentioned Megan, MY BEST FRIEND IS HAVING A BOY! Congratulations, Megan! Keep yourself healthy and take lots of naps. You'd best make time to visit me when you come to San Jose. I will hunt you down and force you to watch excruciatingly bad movies (aka, not movies that are so bad they're good) if you don't. *g*

Also, today is my youngest sister's birthday. Happy Birthday, Heather! It's also my oldest sister's birthday. She doesn't read my journal or anything, but Happy Birthday, Robin!

I think I've pretty much covered all my bases here. Now I have to catch up on the shows I haven't watched from the beginning of the week.

Seeing as I'm not about to fall asleep while typing (which I most definitely was last night), this post should make a little more sense. Or maybe not. We'll see.

Point #1! Have you ever wondered what bank people talk about when they're not processing your transactions and/or opening your accounts? Well, I'd be happy to tell you what my branch talks about behind the safety of the several-inch thick bullet proof glass.

Yesterday's topic of discussion (shared by everyone at one point or another) was "what superhero powers would you choose if you could choose two?" We had such awesome answers as (and I quote) "I'd be mute." (technically not a super power, I'd like to point out)
"Wings, so I could fly, but not like bat-wings. Feathered ones." (I questioned how one would sleep with full-on wings. I suggested clinging to the ceiling with the wings wrapped around them, hence the "not like bat-wings" comment.)
"I'd be a cross between Wolverine and Jean Grey." (cop-out!)
There was some mention of being able to shoot ice out of one's hands (later discarded for super-healing), invisibility (another cop-out), telepathy (possibly this was part of the Wolverine/Jean Grey hybrid) and sweating mayonnaise (or ketchup, mustard, butter, or any other condiment). The last one left us with hours of speculation about how condiment super-powers could be used. You know, sliding in on a wave of ketchup that the bad guys slip in in their haste to capture you.

    Hee!

Point #2: Book #73 - Castle of Wizardy: Book four of the Belgariad by David Eddings - Okay, I have one more book in this series and then I have the Crimson City series that I just bought. I'm kind of chafing at the bit to start that one. My original plan was to have the entire Belgariad series and *maybe* the Mallorean series finished before I even bought the CC series. Dammit. Now I'm all screwed because I HAD TO HAVE that Russian movie. Which reminds me ... THE CHALK OF DESTINY is in Day Watch, the sequel to Night Watch! It'll be on DVD at the end of October! I'm in heaven! HEAVEN! I'll finally get to see THE CHALK!

I don't think I said much about the book, but it was good. Word!

Point #3 - Cole and I will be visiting with [livejournal.com profile] jenahville and [livejournal.com profile] kimbrchick tomorrow! Cool! We're going to watch disaster-type movies (Zombies! Vampires! Werewolves! Oh my!) and be all talky and stuff. It'll be fun!

Point #4... Starbucks has their Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino back on the menu! Pair that with a pumpkin scone and you're in taste bud heaven!

Point #5 ~ I saved this one for last because I'm quite thrilled about it! I have lost 9.5 pounds since I started my healthy eating earlier this year. My original goal was 10 pounds, so this is AWESOME! I'm still toying with trying to lose an extra 5 (that would put me nearly at my pre-pregnancy weight which is WHOA!) but I'm more concerned with staying healthy than hitting any hard and fast numbers. That said! NINE AND A HALF!

    Now I'm done.

I'm tired. I'm also tired of being tired. You know what I mean? I'm tired of dragging myself through the day every.single.day. So, I'm going to tell myself to knock it off. I want to be perky, scary, bouncy Kelly again. So, there.

I started a new book yesterday and I'm a whopping 15 pages into it. I just... yeah. I wanted to read today, but it seemed like it would be too much work. How sad is that?

I think I'm going to go get a yummy, yummy Starbucks tomorrow morning. Delicious. I haven't had Starbucks in weeks! I've been a very good girl. But tomorrow I'm going to go a little crazy! Woot!

I think I've used up all my words.

Psst - [livejournal.com profile] heather13 and [livejournal.com profile] tlace, I'm dl-ing FNL as I type. However, having learned something from the dl-ing of season 3 of The Office, I'm not going to start watching until I've dl-ed at least half of the season. That might be tomorrow. I'm not sure. I've been doing some real bone-headed things the last couple of days. First off, Book #48 is being rescinded as a counted book this year since I read it back in January/February. I also read Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris today (the next book in the Southern Vampire series and the book that follows #48) only to find out that I've also already read that one in January/February. Okay. To top it off, I went to Best Buy today because I realized that SGA season 2 is out and I really wanted to watch a few episodes. I got home and opened it only to find that I bought THAT at some point and now I have two opened copies.

    Seriously? My brain? Gone.

    *sigh*

On the good side, I'm going to dinner with [livejournal.com profile] kimbrchick later. That'll be fun. If we can figure out what we want to eat. I also managed to get A LOT of stuff done on my day off. I took Cole to school this morning and then ran up to Target to buy yogurt and bagels for Cole and I and yummy coffee (Seattle's Best) for my July 7th gathering with [livejournal.com profile] jenahville, [livejournal.com profile] kimbrchick and [livejournal.com profile] debalita! I then went and had a pedicure (the toes are PINK this time!), had my car washed (for the 2nd time this year!) and stopped at Best Buy. I'm still slightly peeved by how the Best Buy trip turned out but I really have no one to blame but myself. It's kinda weird that I totally don't remember buying SGA season 2. Totally don't.

I should add a new tag. "Bonehead things I do".

Anyway. I need to find a new book. Hopefully, this will be one I haven't read this year. Of course, I could buck the odds and just go buy some more from Amazon. That would negate the chance of a previous reading. Crap. I also need to find room for the books I ordered during my last Amazon spree. *facepalm*

Have I mentioned how much I adore [livejournal.com profile] neversince? Well, it's a lot. Tons. She made me pretty, pretty icons. I'm going to blow kisses in her general direction and the next Starbucks I buy will be bought while thinking of her. Love you, Christie!

    That is all.

-It's really damn hot. Yesterday was ... Umm, actually I don't know how hot yesterday was. I was inside all day. But today was 98F. That's the type of hot that's disgusting and sweaty. Yuck.

-There was a spider the side of a goat in the shower yesterday morning. I made Heather kill it and dispose of the remains before I'd even turn on the water. Double yuck.

-Thus far, Caved In: Prehistoric Terror is not great. Oddly, I actually thought it would be. However, I'm holding out hope for Ice Spiders later tonight. Patrick Muldoon, baby! Woot!

-I think that tomorrow is going to be a Starbucks day. I'm trying to be better about how often I get Starbucks. After fixing my eating habits I found myself buying coffee every day. Sure, I go for nonfat whenever possible and I skip the whipped cream altogether, but those calories do start to add up. So, I've forgone Starbucks the last three days in a row and I figure that I can treat myself tomorrow. Mmm ... grande nonfat orange mocha! Here I come!

-I still haven't written any more on my SPN story. I need to get back to that before it hides so deep in my brain that I lose all interest.

-I need to clean up my floor. It has a lot of clothes on it. Dirty, stinky clothes. Yuck.

-Welcome back, [livejournal.com profile] earthwhatwere and [livejournal.com profile] slayerjenn!

-I think I've said it all.
