Book #21 (of 50) - Pegasus in Space by Anne McCaffrey - The sequel (or is it Three-quel?) to Pegasus in Flight finds the Earth's Talents fending off assasins while trying to find a way to make planetary colonization feasible. Once again, I'm amazed at the way Anne McCaffrey can lay the groundwork for future books. Which brings us to ...
Book #22 (of 50) - The Rowan by Anne McCaffrey - The 1st in her Tower and Hive series takes the premise of the Pegasus series and throws in several hundred years in the future. A fascinating book unto itself with strong characters and a moving plot, it also presents us with a whole new slew of problems as colonists on outlying worlds are suddenly faced with a fierce and single-minded alien entity.
Book #23 (of 50) - Damia by Anne McCaffrey - Picking up the story partway through The Rowan, this book retells the major plot points through the eyes of Rowan's trusted 2nd-in-command as he finds himself maturing into his fine, strong talent. He also finds himself falling deeply in love with Rowan's impetuous daughter, Damia, and helping thwart a few more alien attacks along the way.
Three more books to go in the Tower and Hive series and then I have to decide what to read next. Boo.
For the record, both Cole and I are on vacation this week and this looks like it's going to be the only day of rest for us. *sigh* Tomorrow we're heading out for Sacramento in the AM to visit the Railroad museum and (possibly) Sutter's Fort (Gold!YAY!). We're also going to try to meet my cousin (who lives in Sac) for lunch. On top of all that, Cole has been pleading with me to get home in time for him to make it to karate. I told him that I'd try my best.
And I will. Try, that is.

Also, if you're heading up to the Gold Country, I highly, highly recommend spelunking just outside of Auburn. As long as you're into caves and mud. And underground lakes. But really, who isn't?
