I'm curious how I can spend all day doing things and yet have nothing to show for it. I don't get that. It kinda makes me feel like I lounge around all day in my pjs reading and trolling the internet for fun and interesting things to share with people. Oh, wait. That's kinda what I did do today. That, plus a trip to the library to pick up a book for Cole to do a book report on. I also took my dogs on a lot of walks. And... no, that's it.

I am seriously stepping up my job searching yet again. My heart is breaking into little bitty pieces at the thought of being chained down to a soul sucking job again, but I've kinda reached the point where some sort of job is a necessity. Money, you know. Blech. I would love something that I could do at home and I still haven't given up on that (and probably never will now that I've gotten a taste of what not working in an office is like) but things are looking pretty slim on that front.

Tomorrow: More job searching, writing and probably reading.

Which reminds me that I'm a little embarrassed by how many books I've already read this year. You'll understand once I put up today's reviews.
Book #6 - My Soul To Keep (Soul Screamers #3) by Rachel Vincent - The best in the series thus far, in my opinion.
Book #7 - Angelic (Women of the Otherworld) by Kelley Armstrong - I love this series and I was thrilled when this novella popped up on the Kindle for a mere $2.99.
Book #8 - Gentlemen Prefer Succubi (Succubus Diaries #1) by Jill Myles - Currently a free online read over at Pocket After Dark that I absolutely couldn't put down. Loved it. To pieces.
Teaser Tuesday - Immortals, Zombies and Fae! Love!

Umm, yeah. I'm averaging 2 books a day at this point. I know this won't keep up, but I can't stop reading. It's like a fever in my blood. Which reminds me: Shadowfever, the final book in the Fever series, comes out January 18th and I'm DYING for it!

Randomly, last year I only read 3 books the entire month of January. Huh. I think I'm going to kick that number in the booty and show it who's boss! Hard!
Okay. I'm done.

As is my tradition on New Year's Eve, I watched a few movies. Hailey and I started off the evening with Resident Evil: Afterlife which was pretty much just like I remembered it from the theater except without the 3D. The opening scene in the rain in Tokyo is still gorgeous. The fight scenes are fun and brutal. There wasn't enough one on one zombie action. Of the fighting variety. In my opinion. After REA, we popped in the first Resident Evil. Hailey has now abandoned me and I'm watching Resident Evil: Apocalypse (which, crap, is also REA) by myself. I cleaned the bathroom through the end of RE, though so it's not like I've been mindlessly watching moves all day.

Speaking of Resident Evil, I made a webpage for the movies. It's pretty much all the same stuff that used to be on my Zombie movies page, but that page was getting HUGE and I decided to break it up into smaller, more manageable sections. If anyone has an account (or whatever you'd call it) with Squidoo, I'd love you forever if you could pop over and rate it for me. Rating is easy now, you just click on the thumbs up in the upper left hand corner and you're done. So, please?
The Resident Evil Movies

I also made a page for Southern Arcana by Moira Rogers the other day. That's a paranormal romance series about werewolves, warlocks, shapeshifters and psychics that's absolutely amazing. Same goes with that page- for anyone who can, a rating would be fabulous.

I have a bunch of year end books things to post but first I want to throw out a few numbers.

In 2010 I read 311 books according to Goodreads. By my count, which doesn't include most of the stand alone short stories that I included at GR, my total sits at 289. The goal I set for myself at the beginning of the year was to read 100 books. I think I did pretty darn well.

I wrote 165,295 words, which consisted of one full length novel, 2/3 of a second novel and snippet of a story that fizzled out. I'm working on finishing novel #2 before I dig into some serious editing for novel #1. The goal I set for myself with writing was to write more. I can say with confidence that I accomplished that.

I wrote a fucking book, guys.

Anyway. The book stuff.
Book #289 - Impetuous by Lori Foster - Enjoyable but nothing earth shattering. Although the price was very nice.
Follow Friday - Some of my book blogging resolutions for 2011.
Kelly's Favorite Books of 2010 - Pretty much exactly what it sounds like. Some new-to-me books that I found fantastic.
Year in Review - Pretty much all the stats I gave you above about the books I read, but a little more in depth.

Tomorrow: My 2011 resolutions!

Have a safe and Happy New Year!

I've been sitting here for a few minutes trying to figure out what fun and exciting things I did today and I'm coming up with nothing. No.thing. How sad.

Now, I might not have done anything today, but I did watch The Descent 2 last night and I really, really liked it. It had the same creepy, startling moments as the first one and the bad guys are just so disturbing. Yikes! I liked how we got to find all the bodies of the girls who died in the 1st one as the rescue team wound their way through the caves. That was just cool and disgusting. I do think the 1st had a more dynamic group of characters but this one totally lived up to my expectations.

I also started watching Dead Snow afterward. I think it's a German movie about zombies. Possibly they're nazi zombies. I don't know. I didn't watch enough of it to find out. After the scene where the 4 guys were driving up the snowy mountain to find the rustic ski cabin they were going to be staying in with their lady friends and one of the guys asks other others if they think his lady friend will let him into her number 2 hole, I kinda lost the thread of the story. Yes, he really asked it that way. In German. I had to read it on the subtitles. It was ... awesomely bad.

Anyway. Books.
Book #260 - A Certain Wolfish Charm (Westfield Brothers #1) by Lydia Dare - An intriguing glimpse into the life and love of a Regency Werewolf. Seriously. Actually, it was super good and I'm kinda eyeballing the others in the series.
Book #261 - Enchanting the Lady (Relics of Merlin #1) by Kathryne Kennedy - Continuing my theme of historical novels with a shapeshifting bent. This one was even better than the last!

On My Wishlist (week 14) - The Fever series, the Demonica series and the Alien Huntress series. Good times, guys. Good times.

I think I want some coffee. Because it's never too late for coffee.

The kiddo is still sick. I think he watched every movie on AMC yesterday starting at Terminator, winding through Predator and Predator 2 (which is a movie I really dislike, btw) and finishing up with... I actually can't remember the last one. He was in bed all day. There was a lot of TV on.

Randomly, I had the 4th episode of The Walking Dead on my DVR waiting patiently for me to watch it and Cole asked if he could watch it with me. Now, my boy isn't the biggest fan of Zombies. In fact, when the 1st episode aired, he freaked out on me and wouldn't let me watch it until he'd gone to bed. Yet now he was voluntarily choosing to watch an ep? Okay. He enjoyed it enough to watch last night's ep (ep 5... it's almost over. Boo.) also. Go figure.

So, I'm caught up on that.

Amb had to take today off work since Baby Ry has his nasty double ear infection. We went Christmas shopping. Because that's what you do when you're playing hooky from work. Isn't it?

And some quick book stuff:
My Vampire Academy re-read is completed. Just in time for the final book in the series. Here's my rambling review where I talk about the things I enjoyed and not much else - Spirit Bound
30 days of books... Day 77 - I love it when the free Kindle downloads are books I've been wanting to read!

I'm done now.

I'm gearing up to see The Deathly Hallows on Friday. Originally I had planned on watching all 6 movies prior to seeing it. Umm... well, the slight problem I had there was that I didn't start that epic re-watching in time. Oops. So I watched #1 the other day and Cole requested that we watch Goblet of Fire today. Both of us fell asleep during it. I mean, the entire movie. We slept through the entire movie. Go figure. So we watched it again with no sleeping. Good movie, that one. Good movie. Now I'm watching Half-Blood Prince. 3 out of 6 isn't bad. Is it?

Anyway. Book stuff:
Book #239 - Santa, Honey by Kate Angell, Sandra Hill, Joy Nash - 3 Christmas themed short stories that were pretty darn good.
Book #240 - Beg Me by Shiloh Walker - Hot, with a side order of kink.
Book #241 - Steamside Chronicles by Ciar Cullen - Feeding my Steampunk addiction with sexy shenanigans in an alternative world.

Waiting on Wednesday - Deadlock - I adore Moira Rogers and her sexy Southern Arcana series. Book #3 comes out in January!
30 days of books... Day 73 - ZOMBIES!

Cole has conked out in the middle of my bed. I guess I should shuttle him off to his bed.

The kids had an inservice day today so the teachers could, I don't know, get ready for conferences, I guess. You'd think they'd already by ready, but I'm not a teacher. What do I know?

Despite the fact that they were home all day, I managed to get my giveaway up and running at my book blog. It has a banner and everything! Look!

Celebrating 200 posts with a Giveaway! - A signed copy of Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampires: Volume 1 and a signed copy of Cherie Priest's Boneshaker. Two vastly different books, both of which I adore. Vampires and Zombies: all the things a girl wants as a gift!

Since I'm already talking about book stuff:
30 days of books... Day 64 - Umm, I just posted this and my brain is fried to the point that I don't remember what it is. Oops.

NaNo stats:

The story is still flying along. I'm definitely seeing it moving towards a resolution, which is a good thing. I've written down all the loose ends I need to tie up and I'm maneuvering myself to make pretty little bows.

FYI, today is the halfway mark of NaNo. We should be at a minimum of 25K words. I am thrilled beyond belief to be where I am. It's really helped me having a defined daily goal and having someone that I'm feeling competitive with.

Since it's freakishly hot right now (seriously, November, enough of this already!) and I'm sweating into my chair, I'm going to sign off now.

Since it is November 1st (oh, hello, November!), I have some things that I want to talk about.

First off, the Halloween decorations have been picked up and boxed away. Like I said, I love Halloween but after a month of seeing the decorations up ... it's time for them to go. Until next year, my friends. Until next year.

Second: November 1st is the official kickoff of NaNoWriMo. That's right! At 11:59 last night I was limbering up my fingers and preparing for that moment when the clock kicked over to midnight so I could begin noveling. I only wrote for about an hour and a half last night but I've been hitting Word off and on all day today and I'm very pleased with my wordcount. Very pleased.

That's as of right now, mind you. I feel like I have enough mojo in me to hit 5K tonight. Boo-yah! I've already written more today than I did the entire month last year for NaNo.

And I did some bookish stuff. A little bit. Teeny, tiny.
30 days of books... Day 50 - I have no memory of writing this post. THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU BECOME OBSESSIVE ABOUT NANO!

Oh, before I forget ... The Walking Dead. Please tell me people are watching it. I thought it was FANTASTIC! Creepy, gruesome, bloody, sad. Basically, everything I expect in a show about the Zombie Apocalypse.

Okay. Back to writing before my muse decides to nap.

I love Halloween. I really, really do. But by the time it swings around I've had the decorations up for a month and I'm ready to clean them up and put them away. That's on tomorrow's to-do list.

I wasn't sure if Cole was going to go trick or treating this year. He really couldn't decide on a costume. He wanted to go out with his friends but I kinda said no to that. He ended up putting on the costume he's putting together for a project at school on Egypt and being a Pharaoh. There isn't all that much to it since he decided to do this at the last minute and we hadn't made the headdress yet, but I think he looked pretty cool.

Oh, and the two of us went to the houses in our complex. I wore my wings. We were awesome.

Since Cole fell asleep a few minutes ago and I have free time on my hands until midnight -- WHEN NANOWRIMO KICKS OFF -- I think I'll post my bookish stuff and then watch The Walking Dead.

Book #231 - You Are So Undead To Me (Megan Berry #1) by Stacey Jay - Hilarious book! Zombies and high school kids make for some wacky shenanigans. As a plus, I met Stacey Jay at that book signing I went to last Thursday and my book is signed! Yay!

30 days if books... Day 49 - Vampires and murder. What could be better?
In My Mailbox - I didn't buy many books this week. And with NaNo starting up, I'm going to be pulling back even more so I can concentrate on getting my 50K words. That's a good thing. I have so many books sitting here that I haven't read yet it's getting ridiculous.

Okay. I have to roust the boy from where he fell asleep on my bed so I can start my Zombie love!

Yo! I had a ebook talk-thing, or maybe they referred to it as an e-publishing seminar, at the Morgan Hill library that I was planning on going to tonight. Then I found out that Rachel Caine (author of the outstanding Morganville Vampires series) was going to be doing a signing in Palo Alto, which is about 45 minutes away from where I live. So I blew off the e-pub thing and went to the signing.

Oh.my.fucking.god. I loved it! First off, it was a panel with three authors. At first, I had some issues with the etiquette involved when there was more than one author present. Like, do you just go to the author you know? Do you buy a book from the other author/s? Do you ignore them and hope they don't make eye contact? These were questions that were gnawing on me.

When I got there (extremely early, mind you), I took a look at the books by the other authors but I didn't know which were the first in the series or anything. So I just settled myself in and decided to play things by ear.

First off, Rachel Caine also got there early and she not only thanked me for being there, she gave me a hug for being so damn early. Yes, I tweeted that. It was cool. I was like, dude. Then, one of the authors was cracking my shit up. Cracking. She writes Zombie books of the humorous variety and she was all decked out with a Zombie shirt and a clutching hand hair clip and severed hand earrings. She was basically wearing the most outstanding outfit EVER. And she was funny. Deeply, nonsensically funny. So I bought the first book in her series and the first book in the other author's series and had TEN BOOKS signed by Rachel Caine. Plus I took pictures.

The one with Stacey Jay (the Zombie author) is a little blurry, but you get the point. Isn't Rachel Caine just awesome. She signed TEN BOOKS for me. TEN! I also scored a new bracelet (from the other author who I didn't take a picture with) and some bookmarks. Sweet!

Best day ever? Maybe. More exciting than an e-publishing talk at my local library? Oh, yeah.

Anyway. Book stuff that doesn't have to do with hugging and/or Zombies.
Booking Through Thursday - Skeletons on the Bookshelf - Where I somehow start babbling about how I don't like LJ Smith. Umm, yeah. That totally wasn't the topic, Kel.
30 days of books... Day 46 - Arrgh! Plunder on the high seas! Now with virtuous maidens and lusty captains!

Umm, that coffee I drank earlier was possibly laced with some sort of drug. You know, like caffeine. Or something. *blink, blink*
I'm out.

I have an hour until I'm being picked up for the great birthday extravaganza planned and executed by the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] malkovich03. I've picked up an extra copy of Boneshaker to have signed. I think I'll give it away on my blog. And if they're selling copies of Dreadnought at the bookstore (which I can't imagine why they wouldn't be) I'll buy one and get that signed also to give away. This is on top of my personal three books, mind you.

Anyway. I have a few book things to clear out.
Book #218 - The Bite Before Christmas by Heidi Betts - A fun collection of Christmas-themed vampire stories of the shorter variety.

On My Wishlist (week 6) - Delilah Street, naughty covers and the awesome Morgan Kingsley. Oh, and I don't think I've managed to put up a short wishlist post since I started this weekly meme.
30 days of books... Day 34 - The ghost of Jane Austen takes up residence in a young girl's head and helps her with her romantic life. I know. It's not my usual type of book. Just go with it.

For the record, I froze my ass off this morning during Zombie watch. I could barely type. (That's my excuse if you come across any typos. *nods*) No, really. It was very cold. And foggy. And slightly damp. Hailey scored a goal. Yay!

Okay. I do not promise that I won't be dong any drunken tweeting tonight. I also don't promise that I will.

Hailey's been running a fever all day today and she was throwing up last night. Yet, she was still willing to play at her soccer game this morning. The amazing thing? She scored a goal even while feeling poorly. What a girl! So since she played at her game, I did an extended Zombie Watch that carried over to our trip to the pumpkin patch.

Do you know what that means? Pictures!

Umm, that's my official pumpkin patch jacket, btw. I've worn it every year for the past ... few. I don't really know how many. A lot. Weirdly, this is the only time of year I wear it.

Okay, book stuff.
Book #205 - Ghost Exterminator (Karmic Consultants #2) by Vivi Andrews - Funny and good. The last time I read a 'funny' book, I found it to be neither.
Book #206 - Stone's Embrace: A Captive Souls Story by Delilah Devlin - Dudes. I had no idea sexy time with an inanimate object could be so hot.
Book #207 - Dominique's Release: A Captive Souls Story by Kimberly Kaye Terry - Well, at least I enjoyed the other two.

30 days of books... Day 27 - Mummified corpses! In an abandoned mental hospital! I'm in literary heaven.

As an aside, I've had so much fun going through my 'to-read' books for this meme that I think I'm going to keep it up until I work my way through the entire list. So, thanks, [livejournal.com profile] katikat, for starting this. I'm having a blast and I'm starting to clear through some of the books that have been lingering for ages.

And finally, on the topic of books, one of the things I love about Twitter is how you can have these cool little interactions with people. I've been chatting with a few of my favorite authors and it's been so so so so sosososo much fun.

Okay. That's enough out of me.

Oh, Twitter. You and I have become such good friends since I bought my smart phone. Now I can post stupid and annoying pictures of myself doing things that no sane person would normally do at all hours of the day and night. I can take pictures of my shoes and socks and fingerless gloves. You never mock me for doing this, Twitter, and for that I thank you. You take my pictures and you put them up on your website and let the entire internet gasp in awe at my over-the-knee socks.

Now that it's almost Halloween I can post pictures of me decorating my house. Like this:

If you can't tell, that's a heart dangling on the side. Oh, man, I love Halloween. I glued all those spiders on by myself. There was a whole glue incident and I've been peeling glue off my fingertips for the bulk of the day. Maybe I'm down to skin now. I don't know. Does it really matter?

One thing I've learned from all this, dear Twitter, is that the bulk of authors I follow are all as sadistic as hell and they like to torment their creations. This is somewhat like a mad scientist, I think. Which is interesting since it's October and I've just hung a heart from the table outside. I kinda feel like I've found my place in the world. And that's all thanks to you, Twitter. You've made me realize that wearing at least one piece of skull-adorned clothing everyday and liking tattoos on men and saying "fuck" often and loudly are normal. Well, normal for people who talk to themselves and write about imaginary people.

Yep, I fit right in.

Speaking of which, tomorrow's Zombie Watch should be starting around 10:30 or so. Bring it!

Okay, enough about my Twitter love.
Books. Things that go book in the night. All things bookish.
Book Blogger Hop - I posted this last night but I'm kinda in love with the banner I made and I want everybody to look at it and tell me how utterly awesome I am. No, really. Tell me. I won't mind.
30 days of books... Day 19 - A series I wanted to read but couldn't get into. Yet I still have one of the books. Go figure.
An awesome contest held by one of my favorite authors! - Moira Rogers and Vivian Arend are teaming up to give out a virtual ton of books. You don't have to do anything but tell them you're interested. Free books, guys. Free books. That is all.

Okay. Enough babbling. I have to get tomorrow's early morning post put together so I can go out and make sure the Zombies don't invade Morgan Hill any more than they already have with a clear conscience. Which reminds me: I'm writing motherfucking Zombie Apocalypse fiction with the outstanding [livejournal.com profile] oddmonster. That girl has some mad writing skillz.

My beast of a child had a virtual ton of homework tonight. He's normally very good about getting everything done and tonight was no exception really. Except. Except that he had so much that his normal homework schedule (homework, break for Halo, homework, break for Halo, later, rinse, repeat) wasn't quite working. He had to do more of the homework and less of the breaking. Of course today is the day he's (in his words) "trying to level up on Halo, mom, and it's very hard!" Geez, my kid's a hoot. Anyway. He's done now, although he's been working on it off and on since 4 or so. Yikes! That's a lot of homework.

Random tidbit: I never oversleep. Never. My alarm goes off disturbingly early, I get up, all is well. Last night Heather let me know that she had to head out to work a few minutes early today to pick up coffee for a meeting and she'd be dropping Hailey off a wee bit earlier than normal. Cue me turning off my alarm and falling back asleep this morning. Isn't that the way it always happens? Woe. Don't worry I still got up on time, I was just rushing around like a loon. It was kinda funny.

Bookish stuff:
I didn't read a book, but I did get my copy of Dreadnought , the fabulous follow-up to Boneshaker and Clemetine, in the mail today. I'm 200 or so pages in and I've been marking the pages that have good quotes on them. I think I have 15 or so pieces of paper sticking out of this poor book. It's a quote-a-palooza.
Anyway.
30 days of books... Day 16 - Free books aren't always good.
Teaser Tuesday - Tin spiders and sexy vampires. Nice.

I have a two part idea for a weekly feature I'd like to add to my book blog. I've done half the work for it- the grunt work, if you will, where I gather the books covers for the first post and make the banners- but I haven't talked myself into sitting down and working on it yet. The second part of it revolves around making a complimentary fanpage at Squidoo. It's the same thing there- I have the bits and pieces but I haven't sat down and started it.

Back to my steampunk Zombies.

Damn, it was hot today. There was sweat. And a blazing sun. I didn't enjoy it. Tomorrow it's supposed to be up over 100F. Fuuuuuck.

I did do some Zombie watching when I dragged the kids out to the Taste of Morgan Hill this morning. I looked for Zombies, but I only found Hailey and Cole.

Oh, and I might have gone shopping at the Halloween store ...

I have so many damn ideas for how I'm going to decorate for Halloween. Be afraid!

Anyway. Book stuff:
Book #192 - A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle #1) by Libba Bray - Not quite what I was expecting, but still enjoyable.

Stop the presses, people! [livejournal.com profile] oddmonster and I are writing awesome Zombie Apocalypse fic set in Morgan Hill. I was going to save mine for NaNoWriMo, but Odd was just whacked enough to start writing it and invite me to join in. How can I resist? It's a Zombie Apocalypse! Boo-yah!

I was planning on going to the Renaissance Faire with Cole this weekend but it's hovering in the mid 90s. Umm, no thanks. We also have the Taste of Morgan Hill going on this weekend, which I wanted to take a stroll through, but the same thing that's keeping me from the Ren Faire is hindering my enjoyment of a city-wide street fair. Heat, oh how I loathe you.

Bookish stuff:
30 days of books... Day 13 - Stephen King, wherefore art thou?
On My Wishlist (week 3) pt 1 - Angels, Demons, and the ladies who fall for them.
On My Wishlist (week 3) pt 2 - Gargoyles (which I don't think get enough written about them) and Doms.

Randomly, I've been tweeting from Hailey's soccer games the last few weeks and I noticed a serious Zombie theme running through those tweets. So today was officially Zombie Watch during the game. Check it!
I also started tweeting during Supergator, but apparently other people were too. I don't like when people do the same things I do.

Yo! Tomorrow, Hailey has a soccer game at 10 AM. That means that I'll start tweeting around 9:30 or 9:45. That's right, guys, I'll be checking for the shambling Zombie horde and fending off signs of the apocalypse as I duck and cover while those around me scream "ATTACK!" Don't worry, I've managed to evade the Zombies thus far, I'm sure I'll make it out alive this weekend as well.

Randomly, while debating which book I was planning on buying next on Twitter (the choices were Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce, White Cat by Holly Black or Unholy Ghosts by Stacia Kane), I got a tweet from Jackson Pearce telling me that I should totally go with her book. So I'm going with Sisters Red. More or less. I'm also breaking down and getting Unholy Ghosts. The point of all this is that in this day and age I love how authors, actors, etc can jump in and converse with their fans. It's just ... neat.

So.
Book #191 - Devil's Due (Red Letter Days #2) by Rachel Caine - Surprisingly good. Especially for a Silhouette Bombshell book.
30 days of books... Day 12 - The Dragonriders of Pern is a ginormous series. No fooling.

Okay. I'm off to read A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. Gothic mansions are love!

I have TeeVee to watch tonight. You know, since I caught up on all my shows and can watch things the day they're on now. However, before I get to such fun and exciting things as Damon looking hot and sexy I have a big roundup of book posts because I went posting crazy today. Well, I guess it's not any worse than most other days except that I have 2 more posts to put up: one for a weekly thang and one more book review for a book I just finished. Does that even make sense? Whatever. Here's the lowdown ...

Book #190 - Blue Noon (Midnighters #3) by Scott Westerfeld - I ended up really liking where he took the series and how open-ended everything was.
30 days of books... Day 11 - More Scott Westerfeld. Apparently the poor guy got trapped inside my to-read list and can't get out. I'll send emergency supplies so he doesn't dehydrate.
Booking Through Thursday - which is me talking about the books I'm currently reading. Actually I finished both of those books since I wrote up that post this morning. Dudes. I rock!
Zombies Vs Unicorns Battle Royale - Yes, I am totally on TeamZombie! Where else would I be?

So, I feel better. In case you couldn't tell. I feel like I've actually got some sleep in the past few days, which is entirely accurate since I slept half of yesterday away. Anyway, it's nice to not feel bad. You know? It's nice.

This coffee I'm drinking has way too much creamer in it. It's like sucking on a candy stick. The old fashioned ones that you can buy at Knott's Berry Farm for a dime. The ones that turn into sticky, delicious goodness in your mouth. Yeah. Like that. It's almost too sweet. And that's saying a lot coming from me because I have a 7 year old's sweet tooth. In fact, it's amazing I have any teeth at all.

I don't even know what I'm talking about anymore. Sugar and caffeine are my friends. For serious.

Hey, Vampire Diaries! You and me! We're on!
Later!

Today I got up early, cursed on Twitter (Fuck you, 6:30!), went to Hailey's soccer game, went to the new Halloween store, finished a book, wrote up some bookish things, napped, got dinner for Cole and his friend, went to two more Halloween stores and checked out the costumes at WalMart. Whoa. That was a lot of Halloweening.

Now Cole, Hailey and I are watching Resident Evil 3.

Randomly, after using LJ for so many years where I put in my own coding for italics and such, Blogger kills me because I automatically do the < > tags while typing without thinking about it.

Bookish stuff:
On my wishlist (week 2) - Zombies, Werewolves and Alien Princes
30 days of books... Day 6 - It's a red letter day!
Book #184 - Guns Will Keep Us Together (Bombay Assassins #2) by Leslie Langtry - Where I liken finishing that book to Frodo's quest for the ring. My precious ....

I haven't picked out my celebratory Kindle book yet (for finishing my novel by the deadline I gave myself) but I did start reading The Hunger Games. I'm only a couple of chapters in but I can already see why people are so enraptured of it.

I did a whole lot of nothing today because I was exxxxcccccited about seeing Resident Evil: Afterlife (which I will henceforth refer to as RE4). Cole decided he wanted to see it, so I had to wait until he was out of school, but we did the whole 3D thing and it was fun!
Proof:
3d glasses are so flattering, aren't they?

Anyway. I enjoyed the movie. It was loud and fast and there were Zombies and Wentworth Miller had to stage a prison break. There were a couple of little things that made me cock my head and go Wha? Namely: The world is ending, people! How do the girls all manage to find/have time to apply flawless make-up? How? Yes, Milla and Ali looked fantastic, but it's the Zombie Apocalypse! Make-up wouldn't be high on my list of priorities. In fact, I think it would rank somewhere under underwear. I'd totally expect fresh panties before hunting down foundation and lipstick. Not that they weren't wearing panties. I mean, I assume they were. I was just using that as an example.

Thing #2: How much fuel is one going to be able to find for a plane during the Zombie Apocalypse? Just curious. Speaking of which, I'm impressed that so many survivors have had flight training. You know, if I found myself in the cockpit of a plane/helicopter/whatever, I'd be frozen with panic over all those buttons and levers. I wouldn't know what to do! I'd die. Horribly! It would not be awesome. It would be bloody and gross and there would probably be fleshy bits of me strung from one side of the flying contraption to the other. Yuck.

Honestly, the movie isn't going to win any awards for being Very Important Cinema or anything, but it was fun. I got to see the lovely Milla Jovovich kicking ass and there were some very cool scenes with rain falling and broken glass that looked pretty neat in 3D.

In conclusion, I'm going to watch RE3 tonight. Just because I can.

I'm following in [livejournal.com profile] katikat's footsteps and posting my 30 Days of Books list over on my book review site. These are the books that are languishing on my To-Read shelf over at Goodreads. Those poor books. Maybe this will prod me into picking one or two of them up.
30 Days of Books - Day 1
Join me. Here, there, anywhere. Tell me what you're not reading!

Okay. I'm done.

After several good writing days, today was a bit of a letdown. A couple hundred words. Boo. And it wasn't because I was having any problems with the writing, it's just that I'm so damn tired. I guess that'll teach me to only get 4 hours of sleep and no nap.

I have a book I finished last night (the reason I stayed up way too late) and one that's almost done and I'm too wiped out to do anything as strenuous as writing a review.

Perhaps I'll go watch something soothing and brainless. Like, Resident Evil or something. What? Zombies relax me.

I'm done in.
Later.
