I don't know if I've ever mentioned how my sister has the worst knees imaginable. Seriously, the doctor told her that she has the knees of an 80 year old arthritic woman after her last MRI. For the record, she's 28. Needless to say, she isn't able to do a lot of stuff that normal people take for granted. And by "normal" I mean people who do not have the knees of an 80 year old.

Today as we were leaving to do some grocery shopping, she stepped down a set of stairs funny and made her knee twinge something fierce. I've never seen my sister on her pain medication since she normally takes it right before bed so that she can sleep without pain. Holy smokes! She slept all day. I thought I could sleep like an Olympian but she was getting her NAP ON! Unfortunately, I think I still come out with the short end of the stick on this because all my naps come without any chemical inducement, but I was impressed. Very, very impressed.

Anyway. I bought more coffee today. The freaking price was down to $1. ONE DOLLAR! You'd be buying it too!

I wasn't planning on reviewing a book today since I was re-reading the 8th book in the Rachel Morgan series (I reviewed it earlier this month during the first read), but I finished that one and got caught up reading the latest book that caught my fancy when Cole and his friend were working on their science fair project and all of the sudden the book was done and I was all ... what? How did that happen?

So. I have a book.
Book #38 - The Dead-Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan - The follow up to The Forest of Hands and Teeth focuses on Mary's daughter and the life she's made in the seaside town of Vista. Content with her lighthouse and the simple existence, Gabry's life is thrown into disarray when a stupid teenage mistake causes some of her friends to become the Unconsecrated (which are called "Mudo" in this book). To top it off, the things she's always believed to be incontrovertible truths begin to unravel and Gabry has to travel into the Forest to find answers to questions she never knew existed. Overall, Gabry is a much stronger character than Mary was. She makes choices that aren't always the smartest, but she's not as selfish as Mary was in the first book. Her biggest obstacle to overcome is her fear. She fears so much in her world that it nearly incapacitates her. It blinds her to the things that are in front of her. I liked the character of Elias and I'm excited that it looks like a 3rd book is in the works for this series.

I have Amber's baby shower tomorrow. Early-ish. It's a brunch. With baby stuff. Cool! I'm heading out with malkovich03 for brews. And somewhere in the middle of all that I want to go back and start tweaking some of my old chapters on my multi-chapter epic. I feel like I have a full day planned.

I did manage to watch both Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries last night. SPN had Zombies. Of course I loved it. TVD? I adore that show. The episode raised a few burning questions in me (regarding Alaric and some conclusions he jumped to at the end of the ep) that I really want addressed. I loved the way Damon was acting all helpless and drunk. They should have him without his shirt more often. Please.

Anything else? Nope? Good.

i'm having a hard time getting thru my current book. not because i don't like it ... but it's in old english and it's hard for me to comprehend.

i have bad knees, too. not as bad as your sis, but yeah. bad knees = suckage.

I don't have the horrible knee problems that my sis has but watching some of the pain she has to deal with daily is not at all enjoyable. I hope you don't have the chronic pain that she does. :(

What book are you reading? I've been zipping through books like mad this month. 25 books in 27 days. Word!

I keep looking at that book but the sad truth is (and don't tell anyone I'm telling you this) I'm not a big fan of Jane Austen's writing. I'm not a huge fan of any of the classics, actually. Uggh. I'll probably have my book-reading card revoked by all those in the business but it's the truth.

Have you seen the "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter:" book? Now that looks funny!

i've never read any of the so-called "classics." this is the first one with "old english" style i've read. and, yes, we also bought that book too. it's written by the same guy.

I've read a couple and they just don't do it for me. Give me an urban fantasy with serial killers any day of the week!
