You had your chance ...

Oh wow. I got a stack of new books the other day (and today ... ) and I'm just going book crazy. Just ... Yeah. Sorry about this ...

Book #21 - Fade Out (The Morganville Vampires #7) by Rachel Caine - One thing that I really like about this series is that it's just downright fun. The characters are fun to read. The town is fun to envision. The action just keeps on coming. With the Vampire civil war (more or less) behind them, Claire and company are working on getting their lives back to normal. When a new friend of Eve's goes missing, the gang has to figure out what she was working on that put her in danger with the resident vampires. Yes, this is another series that I'm pretty hooked on.

-and-

Book #22 - The Awakening (Darkest Powers #2) by Kelley Armstrong - This is billed as a YA book, but it's written so well and it's so engaging that I had a hard time putting it down. Set in the Otherworld universe and picking up directly after the first book, Chloe has to escape the Edison Group and find the other runaways. This happens fairly quickly and the four kids are on the run, trying to either find Simon and Derek's dad or reach someplace where they'll be safe from the people after them. I like that these kids don't have a manual for their powers. It's more than just learning how to control them, they also have to learn their boundaries. Throw in the fact that they've all been genetically altered and it's a whole new ballgame. The rules that apply to normal Supernaturals aren't necessarily the blueprint they're following.

Honestly, I didn't read all day. I swear. I have a list of things that I wanted to get done and every single thing is crossed off. Yep. I was totally productive. Probably because I didn't nap. If you're ever bored out of your mind one day ask me about why I stupidly stop taking multi-vitamins and/or iron supplements every once in a while and how that drags me down into complete exhaustion. Yeah. I am sometimes not smart. The sucktastic thing about it is how long it takes me to figure out that I need to take the things again. Once I do, I'm gold. Perky. Scary alert.

Fear me.

I'm done.
Later.

I swear you're cheating. Chalk me up for 23 in actuality, as I have two for a book club and I'm way ahead of everyone else.

I feel like here's the bit where I do the interpretive dance of concession, so that you can cheerfully plow ahead with smashing my tally again this year.

It's just a jump, to the left....

I am feeling rather cheerful about the fact that I caught up to you. You were kicking my booty for a while there. Don't do the dance of concession yet. There's a lot of months left in the year!

Lol! Cheating! I'm outraged that you would think such a thing! Sadly, I'm not. I've just been completely without a life lately and these books are so damn goooooood that I can't put them down!

I do not either! I decree that you should read at least one book within the next month. Two months? This is like you setting a deadline for my story. This is your deadline! Pick it up and make it your bitch!
