Someone *cough
malkovich03cough* neglected to tell me they were heading over to Europe for vacation. Not that it's any of my business, really, except BFF here! I should have all the details before you go. Not that she'll even be reading this because she's, you know, in Europe and everything. I wonder what countries she going to. Hmm. My curiosity will have to wait to be appeased.
Onward!
Book #76 - The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits and a Very Interesting Boy by Jeanne Birdsall - I'm going to classify this book along the lines of The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. There's no mystery in it but it has the same clean writing and engaging characters. To start with, the writing is crisp enough that you feel like you're running wild with the Penderwick girls on their summer vacation. You're having amazing lapses of judgment and barreling through the hedge tunnel between your cottage and the big house on the day of the Annual Garden Club competition. The book is a little slice of what is was like to be a kid. The story? The Penderwick family rents the cottage at Arundel one summer and changes everyone's lives for the better. Rosalind, Skye, Jane and Batty (along with their faithful dog, Hound) make friends with the locals, write swashbuckling adventure stories and get into loads of normal kid-trouble. They also manage to help a boy and befriend two rabbits. Definitely a fast read, it was still one that was well paced and sparked my imagination.
I got up at 5:30 this morning to make blueberry muffins for the kids. And my sister. I'm the best. And, yes, I've already taken a nap. :)
I'm going to take the dog out for a run now. Before it gets way too hot.
OH! I decided to pull out my favorite Halloween signs (they used to hang on the walls in my old room) and decorate the bare bathroom with them. They look GREAT! And you might think that it's too early for Halloween stuff, but I say PFFT! I'm already wearing my new Halloween shirt, why not hang those signs? Maybe I'll even take a picture. Maybe.
Now I'm done.
