It's been chilly here the past couple of mornings and my toes are cold enough at the moment of that I put a pair of sweats on instead of my regular shorts. Have I ever mentioned how much I love cold(er) weather? It could be fall/winter year round and I wouldn't complain.
Day 2 of school and it was even better than the first. I went to Target and browsed around for an hour. I ended up with 2 books, a new Scooby Doo movie and a Halloween t-shirt. Seriously. Books, a movie and my favorite holiday all rolled into one shopping experience. Yes!
I also finished the book I've been reading ...
Book #75 - The Pale Horse by Agatha Christie - This was very different from her other books. Not just the subject matter (which I'll get into momentarily) but even the writing. It was denser. More finely layered. Something along those lines. To be honest, it took me a while to get into the book for just that reason, but it ended up giving me a very satisfying read. So. This book deals with three women who put forth the idea that they can kill someone remotely. By psychically influencing a "Death Wish" that everyone harbors inside them. It all begins when a dying woman confesses her sins to a priest. The priest writes down a series of names and then gets murdered. Writer Mark Easterbrook becomes involved when he runs into an old school chum of his who happens to be working the case. Realizing that several of the names on the list are people who have recently died of natural causes, Mark begins investigating the nebulous story of The Pale Horse, an old inn where death is for hire by untraceable means. As I said, I ultimately liked the book, but it took me a lot longer to read than normal. Which isn't to say I wouldn't read another in this style, just that it took me longer. You know, an entire day. *gasp*
Back to talking about school stuff ... I think Cole was exhausted last night after his first day. He conked out at 8:30-ish and slept like the dead. I tried to wake him up to get him into his room and it took me 3 tries. He kept getting up and walking in a big circle back to my bed. It was hilarious.
I think I'm done now. My cold toes want some blanket.
Later.
