At this moment in time, Richelle Mead ([livejournal.com profile] blue_succubus) owns my soul. Another of her books got me a little teary-eyed. Dammit! Not that you'd be able to tell from these last couple of books I've been reading by her, but I still maintain that I'm not a crier! I'm NOT!

Book #19 - Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy #3) by Richelle Mead - Before we get into the review, I've already started the 4th in the series. I almost don't know how to review this without getting all spoiler-happy. I guess I'll start by saying that I knew about the Big Thing at the end of the book because I accidentally spoiled myself a while back. That said, it still hit me like a load of bricks. I'm also convinced that Lissa's talent will somehow fix the Big Thing. DON'T TELL ME IF I'M WRONG! I CHOOSE TO LIVE IN BLISSFUL IGNORANCE UNTIL I READ ABOUT IT! Anyway. Picking up almost directly after Frostbite ends, Rose is dealing with the aftermath of her battle with the Strigoi and all the guilt that goes along with it. Meanwhile, as graduation approaches, life goes on as normal and the novices enter into the field test portion of their training. Meaning that the Dhampir's act like full time bodyguards to the Moroi they're assigned to. Rose's testing is complicated by the ghosts that begin popping up that only she can see. She has to unravel the clues the ghosts are trying to pass on to her before St. Vladimir's is no longer a safe haven and Lissa and all her other friends are in mortal danger.

Book 5 doesn't come out until mid-May. I'm pretty sure my brain will explode between now and then. Guys, I really kinda love this series. I started this book today and finished it ... today. I'm not saying that I never do that or anything, but this is a hefty book (clocking in at 443 pages) and I couldn't put it down. I'm pretty sure I ate today, but I wouldn't swear to it. *sigh* I'm almost afraid to pick the 4th book up again tonight because what if it eats my brain and I forget to sleep? It could totally happen. I guess I should be glad that Cole's Science Camp is this week and I can be a book-reading Zombie without fear of the authorities taking my kid away for neglect.

Enough book talk. Except that the only thing I did today was read. What else do I have to talk about?
OH! I finished Harper's Island last night. Holy fuck! I figured out the twist an episode before the reveal (due to my keen observational skillz, I'm sure) but I was still all, "No, they wouldn't go there. Would they? *gasp* They did! They went there! I love this show!" I still think I need to go back and re-watch the first eps (by which I mean the entire series) because now I want to see what clues I missed. By the by, I was DEVASTATED when Jimmy got blown up. I was all ... Noooooooooooooooooooooo. It sucked. Then it got better. Then it got all noooooooooooooooo again. Then it was better.

All in all, it was awesome!
I'm done now!
Later!
