This is going to be one of those all over the place posts. I have a lot to say and I'm not afraid to use it. (?)
Book #55 - Safe Harbor by Christine Feehan - The 5th in the Drake sisters series focuses on supermodel Hannah and dangerous sheriff Jonas. My favorite part? Well, that would have to be that the cover of the book has our hero hanging out on a boat while our heroine pines for him on the dock. Why is this the best part? Because the only time Jonas is on a boat is when he's getting set to kill some evil mobsters. And he sure as hell doesn't do it shirtless as he's looking in Hannah's direction. Sometimes I wonder if the people who decide on the covers and such have even read the book. Anyway. Good book. I'm seriously looking forward to the final two installments.
Part 2 - I was invited to a reception last night for one of my co-workers and found (to my horror) that the dress I was planning on wearing was reaching that point where it was no longer wearable. It's a long, mandarin style black dress with red and gold embroidery. The embroidery was starting to pull away and fray. Ack! I was planning on running out to the mall to try to find something else to wear, but the fam's plane was nearly an hour late getting in and I ran out of time. I had another dress I ended up wearing, but it kinda drove the point home that I need to have a few good dresses on hand for those formal and semi-formal occasions. I have to admit that I'm a wee bit excited about going clothes shopping for some good clothes for myself.
The reception? Well, the 3 vodka and cranberries made it a slightly buzzed and fun, fun, fun time. Although the guy wandering through the guests singing in Spanish with his 7 piece horn section blaring away did make it slightly hard to hear anything.
Now, a cool thing - I dreamed last night. Gross, scary, disgusting zombies coming to life and trying to get me and mine. We're talking crushed and exposed skulls and dangling flesh. The best part? It totally wasn't scary to me because I have my family back! I woke up from crushing the skull of one of the zombies trying to get me and heard Cole breathing in the night and it made me smile. Then I went back to sleep and proceeded to figure out that you had to do more than crush the skull of the zombies, you had to actually decapitate them. Thus, we began chopping.
I have no words for how thrilled this makes me.
Things that are coming up - Tomorrow I have a meeting in the morning form 9-11. Then I get to head home and hang with my boy. I need to be back at work at 5 that night for a server conversion that starts at 6 pm and will last from 10-12 hours. If I'm doing the math correctly, that means that I will be leaving work between 4 and 6 in the morning. Needless to say, I will not be working Tuesday.
I have an AWESOME Flist -
heather13 has said some good stuff about Kelly Clarkson and so, seeing as I had little more than a passing acquaintance with some of her songs from the radio, I decided to buy Breakaway and My December. Heather, you give good recs. First, you and
tlace rec The Office and now Kelly. I really, really like her music. Thank you.
I think I'm done now. But maybe not. I could be back.
