[livejournal.com profile] tinamishi recently asked how one deals with the fact that their baby is old enough to go to school. I'd like to address that now (just in case you didn't see my response, Christie) ...

Try to hold back the tears until your child is out of sight. Preferably in the classroom. I was able to do it when Cole started Kindergarten. I wasn't able to do it when he started preschool. I sobbed like a baby. Seriously. I just looked up at the teacher and apologized with tears dripping down my face. What a sap.

That's pretty much all of my advice. Oh, and pack a good lunch. That's important.

Now, I got my invite yesterday to the Lake Tahoe trip that the bank puts on. It's some time in September ([livejournal.com profile] malkovich03 could tell you the exact date since she's down with that shit). I have to go buy a nice dress. Maybe I'll just buy a nice top and wear a pair of black pants. Either way, I must shop. It's a good thing I got a little bonus and have a little to spend on myself. Speaking of shopping, I think I need to buy Cole a few more pairs of pants for school. And new shoes. How do kids go through their shoes so damn quickly? Before my shoe buying binge of a couple of months ago my old Sketchers lasted for 7 years. Cole's lucky to have them last 3 months. And he's not out growing them. He just plays hard and wears them out.

Since we're talking about Cole ... He is so darn sick right now. He's sleeping on the couch at the moment, but he was throwing up something fierce last night. All over my bed. You moms out there know what that's like. Gross. I love doing laundry at 10 at night. Especially when it involves vomit of some type.

Onward. I have the urge to buy something out of my favorite catalog. Amy Brown has some great sculptures ("The Kiss", "Winter Solstice" and "Eclipse") in there that catch my fancy. I also love her "Cloak of Stars" glass panel. It's just so pretty. See, I was thinking of adding pictures so you all could see what I like but it seemed like too much work.

I think I have to take care of my boy.
Later.

Oh.my.gods. There are some really bad icons out there. Sure, there are some really good ones, but there are some really bad ones also. Just a word of advice ... To whom ever I just ran across (can't remember who and can't remember where) - Please don't icon Batman Returns ever again. Once upon a time I used to like that movie. (shut up, I did like it) You might have ruined it for me. Thank you, Kelly.

I went to the catalog. Some of the stuff was really cool, but some of the stuff was far out. I liked the fridge door fortune teller and the pentacle altar cloth, but a $70 shit just to wear on Litha? I can hardly bring myself to buy stuff I need at that price!

I did however splurge on a couple of Kiva CDs the other day. They are awesome.

I have that problem also. I love looking at all the stuff, but I can barely bring myself to buy a pair of shoes for more than $30 much less a shirt I'm going to wear once or twice. Still, the stuff's pretty and I like to dream.
