Cole tells me that it rained today. Huh? Really? That must have happened during MY THREE HOUR NAP. Seriously, I was writing and I put my notes down and stretched out with the dogs on the bed for a minute and suddenly it was two hours later and I was all "Well, as long as I'm up by 1 ..." and the next time I looked at the clock it was 1:20. Oops. At least I woke up in time to pick the kids up from school. That would have been utterly tragic if I had slept through the school pick up.
Oh, wait. I have my alarm set on my phone so that sort of thing won't happen. I am so on top of things.
Read a book ...
Book #41 - Personal Demon (Women of the Otherworld #8) by Kelley Armstrong - One of the things I liked about this book is that we get to delve into the personal life of one of the more enigmatic minor werewolves, Karl Marsten. With Hope Adams (half-demon and minor character in Jaime's book) as narrator, we're drawn into the world of high crime, espionage and chaos when the Cortez Cabal asks Hope to infiltrate a band of larcenous Supernaturals in Miami. Paige and Lucas put in an appearance (being that Lucas is the heir apparent to the Cortez throne) and we get a strong sense that as nasty as the Cabals are, they ultimately serve a purpose in the Supernatural community. As an added bonus, the narration (although mainly Hope) occasionally flips over to Lucas and the issues he has with various members of his family. A lot of peeps in his family want him dead. A lot.
Karl's story intrigued me. As Hope put it at one point, the reason he takes so much on himself is that he doesn't want to be indebted to anyone. He works hard to be entirely self-reliant. When he found himself drawn to Hope, he fought it. And fought it. And fought it. Like I said, intriguing.
Random writing-type stuff ... I have a time line going for the story. I have character sketches. Not real sketches because my drawing blows, but a couple of pages of notes on what people look like and some of their mannerisms. I have nearly an entire page written up on the resident ghost. He's going to be getting a lot of screen time. Because I like writing him and want to hear his story.
By the by, I think I'm going to have to break down and buy a new phone soon. Droid or Blackberry? I just don't know. I like the idea of being able to say "This is not the Droid you're looking for" as I wave my phone past people's faces but ... well, I'm a big baby when it comes to new phones. I'll probably have the Verizon guys give me the pros and cons of each of them before I decide.
LJ's been pretty quiet recently. Let's get this party started!
time to cart the boy-o off to bed.
Later!
