Absolutely Not

The angel on her shoulder was whispering all the wrong things.

Elizabeth knew better than to listen to it. She was smarter than that. Yet it put the ideas in her head.

"Listen up, Lizzy! He's a man. You're a woman. You're both far from home. There's nothing wrong with a little human comfort."

When those thoughts popped up she'd bury herself in her work. It seemed that lately all she did was bury herself.

"Lizzy, you can't hide in here forever. You have inspections to make. Or something."

Elizabeth scowled at her desk. Yes, she did have things to do. Important things. She had told Zelenka that she'd go down to the lab to run interference between he and Rodney. She should probably get to ...

"Besides," her annoying inner voice chirped, "Colonel Caldwell's around here somewhere."

No. Absolutely not. She and Colonel Caldwell had a strictly business relationship. She wasn't going to go traipsing around Atlantis hoping to run into him.

"Geez, Lizzy! Don't be such a stick in the mud! There's nothing wrong with wanting someone. I mean, please! Remember right after we got here and you thought that John Sheppard was ..."

Elizabeth stood up so quickly that she got tangled in her chair and ended up hopping and flailing madly to keep her balance.

Okay. Absolutely none of those thoughts about John. Those were the rules.

How many times did she have to remind herself that he was off limits? Besides which, he and Teyla had been shooting each other covert looks this past week which led Elizabeth to believe that there was something brewing in that direction.

Of course, John seemed to be giving everyone odd looks since his almost-metamorphosis into the bug man. Her theory was that he was trying to figure out who he'd bested in his altered state.

Which brought her thoughts back to Caldwell, who she'd been forced to work closely with during John's incarceration in the infirmary.

Caldwell certainly played a mean game of chess.

Lately he'd seemed more relaxed, looser, around her. She liked seeing that in him.

"Not to mention seeing him in those sweaters," the voice piped up.

"I really don't need this right now," Elizabeth muttered to herself as she beat a hasty retreat out of her office and headed for the lab. Maybe surrounding herself with a group of mad scientists would keep it quiet.

Although, with her luck, it would probably shift it's attention from Caldwell to Zelenka and have her thinking lusty thoughts about the Czech.

She really didn't need that.

"Oh, Lizzy! You're so deluded to think that you don't need lusty thoughts in your life right now."

Elizabeth groaned and began walking faster. Great. A lecture from her inner voice. Talk about things she didn't need.

"You can't shut yourself off from the world, Lizzy. Especially not now, when you're so far away from your own." The voice had gone serious and was a pale echo of Elizabeth's usual tone. "All the accomplishments ... all the accolades ... they don't mean anything if you have no one to share them with." Elizabeth felt the equivalent of a mental smack to the back of the head. "So. Turn yourself around, find Caldwell and fuck the brains out of him. Live a little, Lizzy! Before you forget how."

Elizabeth had stopped walking somewhere in the middle of her inner voice's diatribe.

She wasn't tempted by what the voice suggested. Well, maybe just a little. Not that she and Caldwell would ever ... Although, admittedly, the thought of blowing off the current Rodney/Zelenka feud was very appealing. But no. She had things to do.

Very important things.

Things that only the administrator of Atlantis could handle.

For example, she absolutely could not allow ... No, she didn't have to take care of that one herself.

Well, there was always the ... except that Carson had threatened her with bodily harm if she showed her face in the infirmary again this week.

Hmm.

Imagine that. The only things she had to do for the rest of the day was stop Rodney and Zelenka from killing one another.

"Lizzy! Do I sense the stick removing itself from your ass?" Elizabeth could hear the voice smirking as it said that. "Baby steps, Lizzy. Baby steps. Today you take a day to relax and tomorrow you can fuck Caldwell into the mattress."

Elizabeth closed her eyes in frustration. "I'm not planning on fucking Caldwell into anything. So. Just. Shut. Up," she muttered through gritted teeth.

Elizabeth's eyes popped open at the sound of a throat being cleared behind her.

She knew who it was.

Given what she'd just said there was no one else it could be.

She forced a smile onto her face and turned slowly around.

Sure enough, Caldwell was standing there. He looked slightly bemused and more than a little dashing in his jumpsuit uniform.

Elizabeth tried to find a way to gracefully explain what he'd obviously heard. She got as far as "I" before her brain shut down on her.

She took a mental step back and tried to regroup.

"Dr. Weir."

"Colonel." There, something coherent.

"I was just heading down to the Daedalus and was asked to track you down."

"I didn't mean what I said," she blurted out.

"Oh." An eyebrow went up. "So, you do plan on - excuse the language - fucking me into something?"

Elizabeth felt herself blushing. Okay ... graceful extraction. "What I meant was that ... umm ... I don't plan on fucking you into the mattress."

Caldwell's other eyebrow went up to join the first. He looked almost intrigued by the thought.

Elizabeth took a deep breath. That came out all wrong. "I'm sorry. Zelenka asked me to stop by the lab. I should probably be on my way." He caught her arm as she moved to step past him. Her inner voice began cheering.

"Elizabeth ..."

Something in his voice crawled up her spine. He wanted her. He wanted her the way she wanted him.

"Go for it, Lizzy," the voice crowed.

For once, Elizabeth listened.

End.

So, having decided that I'm stupid to never put any of these stories up where people can actually read them, I'm slowly adding them at Bay 12. Also, you'll probably see more of my fic here over the next couple of days than you ever want to. :)

Oh, and comments are greatly appreciated. Even if it's to let me know that I'm a talentless hack who shouldn't give up her day job. Admittedly, I'm hoping the comments don't lean in that direction, but I'll take what I can get.

Smut queen! Smut queen! hehe

I'm a Weir/McKay shipper myself, so while the content doesn't interest me, your style of writing does :) You're very talented, Kel. Keep writing!

I am a writer myself. I find it hard to write about already established people/characters and prefer to make up my own. I actually have a novel completely finished, just waiting for something to be done with it heh But I never will. I know me :)

Ha!
Funnily enough, I'm not a Weir/Caldwell shipper either, but this story just wrote itself. It was like, "Here I am! Write me down!" How can you argue with that?

I never thought I would write fanfic for the same reason you gave, but when I gave it a shot I loved hearing the characters come to life in my head the same way they came to life onscreen. I don't know ... I just love being able to put my own spin on someone else's universe.

Thanks for the feedback, btw. You honestly made me smile.

Loved this! I've recently gotten into the whole Weir/Caldwell thing and this just made me laugh out loud. More please? I would love to hear Caldwell's take on what happened.

I would love to write Caldwell's side of the story. I just have to figure out how to write him. His voice doesn't shout at me quite as loudly as Elizabeth's does.
Thanks for the feedback!

This was a pure JOY to read!
Hilarious, hot 'and' cute at the same time!
Brilliant, wonderful, and I dare say: fantastic!

Can't remember the last time a fic actually made me laugh out loud, but when she spoke out loud and there was someone behind her... and his reaction... priceless!
*begins worship*

Wow! Thank you so much. I'm glad I could make you laugh. This fic is one that completely wrote itself. Those two were talking to me the entire time.

Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Oh, my Gods....I don't know if I'd want to string my inner voice up by its tender parts for the embarrassment or hug it after it got me into bed with Stephen Caldwell. ROWR!

I really enjoyed this, it made me laugh out loud in several places. Thank you!
