You broke all your promises ...

I made the mistake last night of picking up Enclave by Ann Aguirre thinking that I'd read a few chapters before going to bed. Holy smokes, I couldn't put it down. I read it over the course of a couple of hours because I literally couldn't drag myself away from it. It was just... whoa. Like, broken cities and zombie-like creatures WHOA! I loved it. LOVED IT!

If you all recall, I had a book signing on Tuesday. One which I went to on my own since my partner in crime is out of town. It was weirdly fun. I walked a good mile, mile and a half to a coffee shop in the grotesque heat. This left me with a blister on my foot and a sweaty shirt. However, I scored a Godiva chocolate rasperry drink out of it so it was totally worth it. I then headed to the bar/restaurant next to the bookstore for something to eat since it was still hot out and it was way too early to be hanging out like a creepy person waiting for the author to show up. I drank a ginormous cider and ate some fries. That was my dinner. I'm not saying this is what happened, but I might have been a little tipsy by the time I made my way to the bookstore. Don't worry, I had totally sobered up by the time I got my books signed.

I'm not a big fan of standing in line, so I hung out reading while I waited. I ended up being the last person to meet her and I got to tell her how much I loved the covers of her books and just chat for a few minutes. It was very fun. The only downside to these events are the stupid questions people sometimes ask. I swear one girl went on and on about how she had just picked up Fallen and Torment (books 1 & 2) and she could hardly believe that Lauren Kate was going to be here for the release of book 3 and how it must have been her lucky day or something when she found out because, you know, she had just read those first 2 books on a whim. *facepalm* Dude. No. Just, no.

Anyway. I have some book stuff. Amazingly, they're reviews on teh two books I'm gushing about above.
Book #238 - Enclave (Razorland #1) by Ann Aguirre - This is just one of those utterly brilliant dystopian novels that drags you in and holds you down until you're breathing the same air the characters are. Gorgeous, gorgeous book.
Book #239 - Passion (Fallen #3) by Lauren Kate - The way this book was written it could have really fallen flat, but it worked. It ended up adding so much depth to the characters it's amazing.

I have one more review to write and then I get to dive into a new book or two.

Randomly, there were two accidents on the way to work this morning and it took me TWO HOURS to get here. It was awful. Terrible. No good. I told my boss lady that the only thing that would have made that commute worth it was if Disneyland was at the end of the trip. As much as I like my job, it's defintely not Disneyland.

So, there you have it!
Later.
