Hmm ... Cole's been waking up with a horrendous cough for the last couple of mornings. Being the mom that I am (remember: I believe that the combination of tea and toast will cure most anything) I whisk him off to the shower and make him stand in the steam with the hope that it will loosen up some of the gunkies in his chest and lighten up his cough. I really don't like that almost-gagging sound he makes when he gets a really good one going.
Anyway. Forcing him into the shower every morning doesn't just help supress his terrible cough it also makes him CLEAN! Which, as any mother of a six year old boy can tell you, is a wonderful thing. Honestly, it's no fun sleeping next to something that smells like a small, wet animal.
And in case anyone is wondering ... I did watch Sci-Fi's Friday night lineup. Nothing surprising there, right? I started with Firefly ... I loved it as usual but I prefer watching it on DVD because I don't have to sit through the commercials. Next up was Stargate SG-1 ... which I've fallen in love with all over again. I don't know if it's just Ben Browder and Claudia Black being on the same show again (even if they're not sparking at each other) or if it's the chemistry between Michael Shanks and Claudia or if the addition of Ben has thrown the entire dynamic of the team into a whole new light, but I'm loving what they're doing with it this season. It feels very alive and tangible. Stargate Atlantis was next on the menu ... except that I was bit by the writing bug and HAD to sit down and write right then and there. So I did. I caught bits of pieces of both Atlantis and Battlestar Galactica, but nobody worry. I taped them. *g* Nothing will be lost.
Speaking of which, I've missed the last two episodes of The 4400. I know that
jenahna mentioned that one of the two was, in her opinion, the strongest thus far in the season. My question is: Should I hunt down a torrent of them? Or does some have them downloaded who would wish to share? Jenn, did you tape them? Can I either borrow them or could we watch today? (See, Cole and I are heading out a bit later to visit
jenahna and her son. Good times. Good times.)
Oh! I finished one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking books I've read in a long time (no,
ebarnon, I didn't cry. I might have welled up a bit, but no actual tears fell.) last night. The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. It was recommended by
jenahna and it was wonderful.
Wow, I babbled a lot for 7:30 in the morning.
Later.
