I started a marathon Buffy rewatch the other day and I'm halfway through season 2 now. Cole's watching it with me because the family that watches Buffy together, stays together. Now, I don't think I've watched Buffy since season 7 ended all those years ago. That's a cushion of a lot of years we're looking at. For the most part, the show has held up nicely. And then Buffy holds up her pager and tells Giles "If the apocalypse comes, beep me" and I dissolve into giggles.

Also, those huge ass computer monitors Willow's using in the library? Do you remember when the monitor took up the entire desktop? I DO!

Anyway. I have some GREAT Twitter conversations to share...

I bought a pair of fishnet thigh highs the other day and tweeted that I couldn't decide if I'm looked like a hooker or the leg lamp from A Christmas Story. Amanda came back with this...

And this...

Bwahahahahaha!

Meanwhile, despite what I say about him publicly, Keith Melton is slightly amusing. He might lie all the time but he comes up with little nuggets like this upon occasion to make up for it...

Have I ever mentioned that Jodi Redford and I bonded over the lack of puffer fish sex in books? True story. We have a long, complex relationship based on amphibious critters. Could you imagine the two of us meeting in real life?

And finally... I'm working on another story. One spawned on Twitter by an off the cuff tweet, it's taken on a life of its own and ... well, it's weird.

Yep. Now I'm going to go stalk... I mean, talk to people on Twitter to see what other little gems pop up.

Randomly, I'll be in Menlo Park tomorrow at Kepler's Books to meet Scott Westerfeld. He wrote the amazing Uglies books and the steampunk-y Leviathan trilogy. If anyone's going to be around, I'll be the one taking pictures of my feet and talking loudly about the delicious hard cider I can get at the bar next to the bookstore.

Arrgh! Yesterday got away from me so today I'm making an effort to get this journal done early. Look at me, being all proactive and stuff!

So. Since last I posted an update that didn't involve 9,000 book review links, things have been happening. Not really. I'm just as boring as always but I'm going to make it seem interesting so you'll be all "Dude! Things happen!" Yeah. It'll be awesome.

School's in full swing for Cole. I had to go in and talk to his counselor because he's the only 7th grader in his Algebra 1 class and I wanted to make sure he was where he was supposed to be. It turns out he's exactly where he's supposed to be since he scored ridiculously high on his state test scores. He hated the class the first week (what with being the youngest and the only one who didn't know anyone) but it seems like it's coming together for him. Which is good because I don't want him dreading a class he's going to have all year when he's only in the 2nd week of school.

In the post of 9,000 links, I mentioned that I signed up for a week long Read-A-Thon with some of my book blogging buddies. I set a goal for myself to read 15 books over the week. I picked all the books ahead of time because I work better when I have a plan and all that jazz. I read 13 of the 15 I picked plus another 5 random books that popped up on my radar. EIGHTEEN BOOKS, PEOPLE! I had to push myself for those last few and I think I took a 5 hour nap after the week was over, but... I had FUN!

In more recent news, on Friday when I was taking the dogs on a walk I found a kitten sitting by a tree. The poor thing barely moved when the dogs lunged over to sniff it and I couldn't in good conscience leave it there. So I tromped home, got our cat carrier, did some kitten rescue, brought it home, fed it and let it get its strength up. When Heather and Hailey got home, we went out to make sure there weren't any other kittens tucked away in the same area. Sure enough, we found a second one. We managed to wrangle that one into the cat carrier (after my mom was bit and clawed and dripped blood all over the sidewalk) and brought it home to regain its strength with its sibling. Currently, both kittens are ensconced in our downstairs bathroom with food, water and a nice warm bed. My mom's on industrial sized antibiotics and it looks like we have 2 new cats.

I have MORE to talk about but I'm going to save it for later. Unless I forget.

Meanwhile, books...
Book #352 - The Line (Line #1) by Teri Hall - I didn't love this book. I wanted to but I had some issues with the simplified writing and the fact that there was no resolution AT ALL to the storyline. That said, I now feel a deep, dark urge to read the next book just so I can get some closure.
Book #353 - Soul Survivor by Misty Evans - Time travel, soul mates and one seriously nasty bad guy.
Book #354 - The Iron Daughter (Iron Fey #2) by Julie Kagawa - I love this series. Which is a good thing since I'm going to be zipping through the next book so I can review book 4 before it comes out in October.
In My Mailbox - I know this looks like I scored a lot of books this week but it's only because I forgot to post last week's IMM and had to combine it with this week's. So, you know. I did score a lot but it was over a two week period.

I'm off to shower so I can pretend to be productive today!

Herein lies the post I wrote up on Monday.

...

Cole's been watching Naruto the last few days and it's kinda annoying me. I really don't remember it being so ... loud. And braying. God, I feel like I'm getting old when cartoons are starting to bug the fuck out of me. The loudness is especially annoying because I'm trying to finish up a scene in the EWM#1 and I really can't concentrate with it blaring behind me. You might be thinking "Well, Kelly. Send Cole out of your room and you won't have to listen to that damn show." You'd be correct. Yet, I'd rather bitch at the moment.

I'm pleased to announce that I finished reading the last of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books I own. It was an emotional journey, yet I did it.

I think I want to attempt to finish that EWM#1 scene one more time. Which means I have to babble about books for a minute...
Book #293 - Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood #8) by J.R. Ward - Outstanding worldbuilding, characters that don't quit and storylines that are revisited and expanded brilliantly... I'm in love with this entire series. LOVE!

That last BDB book was a 2 day book. 2 days of concentrated reading. It was lengthy. And fabulous. I'm tempted to get the next in the series but I keep reminding myself that I want to wait until it comes out in paperback so it'll fit on the shelf with the rest of the BDB books. I know. Awesome plan.

I'm done.

Ever since Cole and I went to see Transformers 3 I've had this hankering to rewatch the first two movies. I just finished the 2nd and it's a lot better than I remember it being. The first is still my favorite, though. Megan Fox isn't the best actress but at least she didn't ruin the movie for me. Unlike Edward Furlong in Terminator 2. I love the Terminator movies but I can't watch the 2nd one without cringing. In fact, I don't watch the 2nd one at all. Which is kinda a bummer because it's a good movie. I just can't stand Edward Furlong's acting.

And I really got off subject there, didn't I?

Today, I had a fun-filled day of doing boring chores. I returned some books to the library, got gas, went to Target to buy a new bathroom rug, vacuumed, cleaned the carpet and vacuumed again. I know. Somebody stop me. It's getting way too intense in here.

I was having a writing thought earlier. I want to finish up the Epic Werewolf Masterpiece #2. I think I have about 25K more words to write. Maybe. The problem is that I'm doing a major overhaul to the Epic Werewolf Masterpiece #1 and the changes there could end up having a big impact on EWM#2. So, do I finish writing EWM#2 knowing that I'm in for some major editing on the back end or do I hold off until I finish editing EWM#1? Either way, I want to get myself back into the groove of writing every day. Or editing, as the case may be. I'm going to set up my word goals and metrics bars and everything. FUN!

I just have to figure out what order I need to do things in.

Alright. I have work tomorrow. Yay. I wish my chair was more comfortable at work. Sometimes my butt falls asleep. It's not fun.

Today is my wee beastie's birthday. He's 12. TWELVE! I adore my kid to pieces but there are times when he totally gets a WTF? face from me. One with a superciliously raised eyebrow. Usually it has to do with when he wants food. Cole, who is nearly as tall as me and wears bigger shoes, always asks me to go downstairs with him to get something to eat. I don't have to get him the actual food, mind you, I just have to go downstairs with him. Why? Why? WHY?!?!

Despite that, I still love the little brat. I probably won't sell him back to the gypsies or anything. Unless, you know, they offered a really good price. And threw in free fortune telling for life. And, really, what are the odds of that?

Happy Birthday, Cole. I love you, darlin'. Even with all your weirdness and your endless video game playing and the way you always want to watch TV in my room when I'm trying to write.

The last few years we've made it a tradition to go to the movies on his birthday. He really wanted to see Transformers 3 last night so we caught the 7:30 show. For the record, I liked the movie. I thought it was a lot stronger than the 2nd movie. The only thing that really, really, reallyreallyreally bugged me was that the Victoria's Secret chick was wearing a white jacket through the entire climactic battle scene and she somehow came out of it looking spotlessly gorgeous. Really? Sam was covered in grime and soot and you managed to look perfectly put together? I can accept a lot of things - giant sentient robots who come to earth and open portals to other worlds, that only hot guys are in the military, that Sam got 2 hot chicks over the course of the series - but I can't accept that anyone could be fleeing though a ravaged city without being filthy by the end. Michael Bay, you have disappointed me.

I have some bookish stuff. For real.
Book #268 - Kiss of the Highlander (Highlander #4) by Karen Marie Moning - There was, like, 2 way time travel in this one. Kinda neat!
Teaser Tuesday (07/05/11) - Sexy assassins and time-traveling Highlanders. Can you tell which one I've already finished?
By the Numbers...the first half of 2011 - A breakdown of where I stand on the various reading challenges I signed up for. I had a fun time writing this one up. Lots of numbers. Lots and lots of numbers.

Okay. I'm done.
See ya'll later.

Cole and Hailey were fighting earlier. I yelled. It didn't phase them. The one bright spot in all this is that this time they were fighting over a full box of crackers instead of an empty one. Sometimes I envision their inner selves as two junkyard dogs battling over roadkill scraps on top of a pile of rusty kitchen appliances.

It's a surprisingly accurate picture.

In news that doesn't involve me clawing the walls... no, wait. I don't have any news like that.

I've been doing some serious mental gymnastics over my epic werewolf masterpiece #1. The more I think about ti and look it over, the more little tweaks I can see I need to make. On one hand, I don't want to over think it and end up with a story that no one but me understands. On the other hand, I want to do the best I can for these characters and tell the story they deserve.

And in bookish news:
Book #259 - Crescendo (Hush, Hush #2) by Becca Fitzpatrick - This book was weird because I hated the way the main female character acted but I ended up really liking the book anyway.
Book #260 - Raziel (The Fallen #1) by Kristina Douglas - Another one where I didn't love the entire book and then all of a sudden I did. It's bizarre, man. Bizarre.
Book Blogger Hop, Follow Friday & Tagalong Friday - Things that make me keep reading and an epic ode to Resident Evil. Not really. I just make a teeny, tiny mention about how I might sorta, kinda like zombies and I think Alice is cool. Also, pictures of half naked men. Because I like those.

I am done!

My baby's home! Cole's been in Palm Desert since Sunday and I've kinda missed the little booger. We'll see how long that lasts. Probably right up to the 5th time he asks me to go downstairs to get him food. I don't get that, btw. Why does he need me to go with him when he gets his food? It's not like I'm getting it for him. I'm just standing there. Weird kid.

I feel like I should apologize for the massive amount of book reviews I'm about to dump on ya'll. So, yeah. Sorry about this...
Book #246 - That Voodoo You Do (That Old Black Magic #1) by Jodi Redford - Oh, I loved this one. Sexy, naughty fun with a territorial cat shifter and a clueless witch. Throw in some zombies and you've got one goooood story.
Book #247 - The Twisted Tale of Stormy Gale by Christine Bell - A fun little steampunk romance about time pirates!
Book #248 - Hard Spell (Supernatural Crimes #1) by Justin Gustainis - Hard boiled urban fantasy with a side of blood and guts. Sweet.
Book #249 - Caressed by Moonlight (Rulers of Darkness #1) by Amanda J. Greene - A sexy paranormal/historical hybrid with vampires.
Book #250 - Blue Galaxy by Diane Dooley - The only one of the bunch that I didn't love. It was just okay as far as sexy sci-fi goes.
Book Blogger Hop, Follow Friday & Tagalong Friday (06/24/11) - Favorite fairy stories and some men without a lot of clothes. Hey, I like what I like and I'm not ashamed of it.

Yeah. I had a bunch of books there.

It was hot here today. I think the weather report said it was supposed to hit 90F but our thermometer put us at 95-ish. Hot. Yucky. I stayed inside for most of the day. And the one time I went out? I came back sticky. STICKY! Like the movie theater floor. Not enjoyable.

It's supposed to be hotter tomorrow but I'm choosing to just grin and bear it. Mostly because Cole's up in Palm Desert with his dad this week and it's over 100F there. I mean, at least I'm not dealing with that. Right? Right. FYI, my motherly advice to Cole before he left: "Wear lots of sunscreen. Even when you don't think you need it." I'm totally good at being a mom, yo! Also, he forgot to wear sunscreen one day while swimming and his poor sunburned shoulders are finally back to a normal color. <--total mommy-fail, guys. Total.

Okay. Books. I got 'em.
Book #242 - Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress #4) by Jeaniene Frost - Seriously, this series just keeps getting better. I absolutely adore Cat and Bones and want to read a million more stories where they're being all brutal and fight-y while loving the hell out of each other.
Book #243 - The Debutante's Dilemma by Elyse Mady - A fast, naughty read. Nothing mind-blowing but still fun.
A week of free ebooks from Carina Press - Umm... pretty much exactly what it sounds like. Free ebooks. From Carina Press.
In My Mailbox - I am so proud of myself for reading and reviewing every book I got last week. Plus some of my TBR books. I was rocking it. This week? Probably not so much. Although I'm doing well so far.

Okay. There you have it!

Today was a nonstop day of people coming into the office to inquire about apartments without actually committing to renting one. It was annoying simply because I think I repeated the same thing about 50 times and have nothing to show for it. Also? It totally cut into my reading time. Isn't that awful?

I don't know if I've actually mentioned this here or just on Twitter but my mom has decided that we're going to start a home cake pop business. We had an order of 30 Cat in the Hat hats that we got yesterday for delivery today. Those were hard. My mom and I spent a couple of hours last night trying to figure out how to make them look like hats and then how to decorate them to look like the Cat's. Diff.i.cult. Allow me to show you in pictures...
Someone ask me what those poo-like things are in the backgrou... on Twitpic These are the Cat in the Hat cake pops we're making. The... on Twitpic

The first pic is my darling boy with the uncoated cake columns in the background. They totally look like poop. Naturally, that means that I had millions of jokes about them. The second pic has the completed hats in the foreground and the half-dipped hats in the background. They turned out so so so so much better than I thought they would. I was impressed with the end product.

So, yeah. Cake pops.

Anyway. Books. I got 'em.
Book #240 - Embraced by Blood (Sweetblood #2) by Laurie London - Vampires! Lovely, lovely vampires! I really like the mythology of this series. It's fun and just different enough to feel fresh.
Book #241 - Kindling the Moon (Arcadia Bell #1) by Jenn Bennett - This was an incredibly fun book. It just worked for me.
Book Blogger Hop, Follow Friday & Tagalong Friday (06/17/11) - The TBR pile, favorite genres and one sexy man with a bunch of sexy tattoos.

Okay. I'm off to go watch a few eps of Firefly.

The kids and I took the dogs to the dog park this morning. Bailey rolled around in every patch of mud and dirt she could find. She was adorably filthy by the time we left. Needless to say, both dogs got a bath today. Heck, I practically needed a bath by the time we were done bathing them.

In totally random news, [livejournal.com profile] malkovich03 had to make an emergency trip out of state and I miss her. I have a book signing I'm going to tomorrow and we would have gone to dinner to catch up on life and various other things (things which mostly involve me inserting the words "cock" and "screaming orgasms" into the conversation while trying to keep my voice down so the patrons at the next table don't hear about sleep orgasms. No fooling. Hey, researching for writing sex scenes is a dirty job and I'm happy to do it!) before the signing but now I'm just going to go, get my book and find a coffee shop to read at until I can read at the bookstore.

Thus far, I've watched all of disc 1 of Firefly with Hailey. Episodes: Serenity parts 1 & 2, The Train Job and Bushwhacked. Hailey still isn't convinced that it's as good as The Walking Dead but I told her she had to give it a chance before making such a sweeping declaration.

And now onto the books...
Book #234 - Shameless (The House of Rohan #4) by Anne Stuart - I really, kinda, pretty much loved this book. Historical shenanigans, FTW!
Book #235 - Solid (Solid #1) by Shelley Workinger - A well-written, nicely fleshed-out young adult novel. It has a mad scientist in it. Well, a mad scientist conducts experiments in the prologue and then the kids he experimented on have to deal with the fallout, so he's not actually in it in it, but... oh, nevermind.
Felicity Heaton's great e-book summer savings - Felicity's offering her newest paranormal vampire romance for $0.99 through July 1st. As an aside, I've read quite a few of her books. And I've liked them all.

Okay. I'm done.

I'm so tired all of a sudden that I can't think. Uggh. I did the all-day work thing and then jaunted over to Amb and Phil's house to celebrate my mom's birthday (early because the family seems to be scattering to the four corners after this week). I'm just... exhausted now.

I'm tired enough that getting my book recap ready for the day seems like too much work. We'll see how I feel when I get to the end of this post.

Randomly, I let Cole sign up for the free Netflix trial with the idea being that he can stream the movies and TV shows through his Xbox 360. Umm, I barely see the kid now that he doesn't have to come into my room to watch TV. It's nice because I don't have my TV blaring when I'm trying to read but... huh. We'll see how long this lasts. I told him that if he watches things on it, I'm willing to pay for it but he also has to be fairly responsible with it. Meaning, no marathon 24/7 watching.

Which is totally something I'd do, justsoyouknow.

Okay. I think I can do a book recap. Pretty sure.
Book #231 - Firestorm (Weather Warden #5) by Rachel Caine - I LOVED this ending. Loved it. Just... awesome! I'm totally going to read book 6 as soon as I clear out the review requests due by the end of the month.
Book #232 - The Trouble With Spells (Of Witches and Warlocks #1) by Lacey Weatherford - I liked the book but I felt like the beginning was written for a younger reading set. There were a lot of simple sentences and repetition. This didn't detract from the book too much but it was something I noticed.
Book Blogger Hop, Follow Friday & Tagalong Friday - Favorite Authors, Male Prostitutes & shirtless cowboys. All the things I need to make my weekends nice.

I'm going to take the dogs out one last time, brush my teeth and then curl up into a ball on the bed and watch some terrible sci-fi movies. Wish me luck.

My the power of Grayskull! What in the hell are the kids fighting about now? Seriously! I can't figure it out. They're just annoying each other by looking at one another. I can't handle it. It disturbs me even more when I think that this is only the beginning of summer for them. Arrgh!

And in other, completely unrelated news, Hailey really needs to go to bed now. Really.

Cole had his last flag football game of the season. It was cold and windy and the sky was gorgeous. I took a picture of it...
The sky, she is cloudy.

Cole ran in a touchdown, which is cool. Meanwhile, I'm thrilled that the season is over.

And here's some stuff of a bookish nature...
Book #224 - Accidental Abduction by Eve Langlais - This book was steamy and fun with the added bonus of a big, purple space pirate. It's sexier than it sounds. I swear.
Book #225 - Biting the Bride by Clare Willis - My biggest issue with this book stems from the fact that the synopsis doesn't match up AT ALL with the actual plot. What's that about?
Book #226 - Grave Illusions (Jess Vandermire #1) by Lina Gardiner - Once I got through the first 25% of the book I liked it. However, that beginning was like a slow ride to nowhere.
In My Mailbox - My TBR pile went down this week! I am so excited that I'm almost speechless. Almost.

I think I would cheerfully kill someone for an oatmeal raisin cookie right this moment. A nice soft one with undertones of cinnamon. Yuuuummmmmmmmm.
Okay. I'm done.

Cole and I just watched Hot Fuzz. He swears that it's the first time he's seen it, which I find amusing since I've watched it many, many times and you'd think he would have caught it a time or two just by walking through my room.

He liked it, btw. He said it was "cool and hilarious". Awwww. Mom and son bonding over violent, bloody movies. LOVE IT!

Tomorrow's the last day of school. I'm okay with it for the most part (except for that whole "Hailey and Cole fight constantly and this summer is going to be REALLY LONG" thing) and then I realize that my baby is going to be in SEVENTH GRADE! WTF!?!?! When did my wee beastie get so big? I'm not talking height wise either (although he is nearly as tall as me- damn you, mom and dad, for combining to give me these tiny, tiny genes)... I'm talking HOW DO I HAVE A KID WHO'S ALMOST 12?

*le sigh*

Tomorrow is going to be awesome. I'm heading out to [livejournal.com profile] malkovich03's end of town (well, work-type town) and dragging her off to a book signing. Melissa Marr at Keplers in Menlo Park at 7 pm. I'll be the one with red and black hair trying to talk her BFF into going out for a drink later.

I have some things of a bookish variety to talk about...
Book #221 - Hidden by Blood (Sweetblood #1.5) by Laurie London - Short and sweet, I liked it a lot.
Book #222 - Dark Needs at Night's Edge (Immortals After Dark #5) by Kresley Cole - I AM STILL LOVING THIS SERIES! Now with bloodthirsty vampires, sexy ghosts and awesomeness beyond compare!

I am done, people!

I can't decide whether I'm the worst mom ever or the BEST! I let Cole stay home from school today. He wasn't sick. He wasn't tired. It was just that all his friends were on a field trip that he wasn't going on and he didn't want to go to school. It's the last week. They've turned in all their books. They're not doing anything. So I told him to relax and take it easy.

The second part of this story is that I'm letting him do it again on Thursday. That's the 6th grade field trip to the water park and he simply does NOT want to go to that. So I'm all... Then DON'T! I think he'd have fun if he went but at the same time I know he wouldn't go swimming or anything. Which is weird because the wee beastie loves to swim. Loves it. But not with random kids from his school.

I'd say my kid is weird, but I'm pretty much the same way so... yeah.

Okay. Books.
Book #218 - To Tame a Highland Warrior (Highlander #2) by Karen Marie Moning - I liked this one better than the first in the series and I really liked that one. Hence, this one rocked my socks off!
Book #219 - Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortals After Dark #4) by Kresley Cole - I love the titles in this series. They make me smile. Speaking of which, this entire series makes me smile. I have ridiculous amounts of love for it.
Teaser Tuesday - Fae, Paladins and Berserkers. I love my books!

The kids were school free today which was cool and all since they kept on opposite sides of the house and I didn't have to bind and gag them to get some peace and quiet. Actually, Cole went to his dad's house for most of the day and hence there was blessed silence.

Speaking of which, this is the last week of school before summer vacation. I'm looking forward to the no homework portion of that but not so much to the constant fighting and the fact that I don't get to be a self-absorbed slug. I mean, I have to make sure they eat on a semi-regular basis. Sometimes I forget to make sure that I eat regularly.

Does anybody besides myself ever question how I managed to raise a child through almost 12 years of life without crashing and burning spectacularly?

Okay. Books.
Book #214 - Wings (Wings #1) by Aprilynne Pike - My biggest issue with this book is that I really feel like it was written for the younger YA set. Which isn't so much an issue as just a thing. You know?
Book #215 - Familiar by Michelle Rowen - An interesting little short story that I wouldn't have minded a bit more length on.
Book #216 - No Rest for the Wicked (Immortals After dark #3) by Kresley Cole - I have ridiculous amounts of love for this series. It's so fun and fluffy that I can't put it down.
Book #217 - Heart of the Witch by Alicia Dean - Not terrible but not great. It was just... meh.
In My Mailbox - I got a couple Melissa Marr books for the signing this Friday and a few freebies. Yay!

I had a late hair appointment today. I'm happy with my hair but I'm not real keen on not getting done until after 9 and then realizing once I got home that I hadn't made lunches for tomorrow. >:(

Now it's almost 10 and I'm all wound up and I'm trying to type in the dark because Cole fell asleep in my room watching TV and I can't get him relocated. I'm such the considerate mom, aren't I? Doing the whole typing in the dark thing so I don't wake my kiddo up. You know, until I poke at him to wake him up just enough to get him to stagger down the hall to his room.

Anyway. Books. Or, book. Because I only wrote up one review today.
Book #211 - Samson's Lovely Mortal (Scanguards Vampires #1) by Tina Folsom - Let me just say that Tina Folsom knows how to write some steamy vampire/mortal lovin'. *nods* Yes, she does.

And that it.
Except that I forgot to mention that my hair is currently red and black. I kinda dig it. Actually, I dig it a lot. It's funky and cool. I do wish that my scalp didn't suck up the red color like it does. Looking like I have a raging sunburn on my head is not all that attractive, but I guess it's worth it for the awesomeness of the color.

I'd say that I'll take pictures but we all know I won't. However, I will take pictures at the book signing next Friday. Hopefully my hair will still be rockin' awesome with color that pops.

Now I'm really done.

Day two of my Monday-Friday work week and I'm like this: O.o Now, it's not like my boss lady and I talk incessantly to one another or anything normally but it is nice to have someone else in the office to bounce ideas off of. This week? It's just me. ME. And I'm nearly at the point of talking to myself on day 2. What am I going to be like by the end of the week?

O.o O.O o.O

Exactly.

I even brought a flash drive with all my WIP stories on it but my computer won't recognize the drive so that did NOTHING for me. Arrgh. And I had a fucking epiphany this morning on the way to work. I rewrote a big chunk of my Epic Werewolf Masterpiece #1 in my head (which is probably much more distracting than talking on a cell phone, btw) and I couldn't get it down anywhere. I mean, I guess I could have handwritten it but... well, now I just feel silly for not thinking of that earlier.

Anyway.

I went grocery shopping with Cole after my after-work nap and I'm fully ready for the ladies coming over this weekend. There's going to be a whole Mexican food thing going on. I don't think I can screw up this menu too badly so I'm feeling pretty good right now. I have a hair appointment tomorrow. I'm totally ready for my epic hot pink scalp, btw. Because it always turns epically hot pink after I get it done. Yeah.

Okay. Books.
Book #208 - Tumbler by Brand Gamblin - A fun, fun sci-fi book. I haven't read a non-romance sci-fi in a while and this one was the perfect re-introduction to that genre.
Book #209 - Goddess with a Blade by Lauren Dane - Good GAWD! Lauren Dane can write some fabulous characters. I am seriously so enamoured of this book right now. I just have so many things I enjoyed with it.
Book #210 - Save My Soul (Preternaturals #2) by Zoe Winters - Another really captivating book. This time I got a sexy incubus and a 50 year old curse. Love!
Teaser Tuesday - Fae, incubi and the Goddess-blessed. I find it amusing that of those 3 books I've already finished and reviewed two of them. :)

Okay. I'm done.
Later.

This weekend wasn't long enough. I'm used to working on Saturdays (more or less) but I'm also used to having both Sunday and Monday off. This week, due to my boss being on vacation, I'm working Monday thru Friday. That means I had one measly day this weekend to get my lazy on. *sigh* Isn't that just the saddest thing you've ever heard?

It almost makes me want to cry. Not really.

Yeah. So I did all my grocery shopping, planned out what I'm making for next Saturday's Epic Weekend with the Friends, went to Cole's football game and did laundry. My life is so glamorous sometimes it hurts. Physically. Like a sharp shooting pain in my lower back.

Right, I have this book thing I like to do...
Book #206 - Sleepy Hollow Dreams by Taryn Kincaid - So I asked Twitter for some dirty book recommendations last night and author Taryn Kincaid tweeted me back this one. It was just the right amount of naughty for what I had in mind. Thank you, Taryn Kincaid!
Book #207 - A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark #2) by Kresley Cole - Vampires and Werewolves make for a hot combination. Also, I totally love the world created here. It's just... whoa.

I guess I should do that thing where I'm like a responsible adult and go to bed at a normal-ish time so that I can go to work tomorrow. Or something.
Later.

Well, since the world didn't end - or at least since I didn't get a harp and a set of wings (although I've always been more partial to horns and a tail, babies!) - I guess I'll blog. Because, you know, when the real end of the world rolls around on 12/12/12 I'm going to need a record of all the things I've done between now and then.

Am I right?

Anyway. Since that whole "Judgment Day" thing was a bust, Cole and I decided to watch some Terminator. Robot Apocalypse, ftw! For the record, we're watching Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. So many people didn't like it, but it has a certain explosive charm. What can I say? I dig those futuristic shots of skulls and broken cities.

Now, books!
Book #205 - The Thirteenth Chime (Sense of Truth #1) by Emma Michaels - The book didn't really pick up until the end but I still thought it was interesting.
In My Mailbox - Not too many books this week. Aren't you proud? Don't be. I bought a bunch of books today for a signing I'm going to in 2 weeks. Those will be on next week's post. :D

Okay. I'm done.

I woke up this morning to the sound of rain. Again. It tapered off fairly quickly and we ended up having a nice (if somewhat cold) day but this rain is throwing me off my game. Not that I really have a game or anything. I'm just saying that... I don't really know what I'm saying.

Anyway. I ran some uninteresting but needed errands this morning (dropping a book off at the library, exchanging a pair of shorts I bought for Cole) and then I vegged. Some days I honestly don't know how the entire day can go by without me doing anything.

I didn't even review any books today. I finished one and started another. I drafted the templates for the next 4 or 5 books I'm planning on reading. But I haven't written up the actual review yet.

However, I did crack open the Epic Werewolf Masterpiece #1 because I had a total light bulb moment about one of the small details that have been bugging me. My light bulb totally works, too. It's like my brain has been sifting through all this information until it came up with the one thing that will tie all these other little things together. Brilliant! Way to go, brain!

Yes, I do impress myself. Often. Thank you for noticing.

And now I'm done.
